Alouna and Shadow

Alouna and Shadow

By, rockyjet

The characters are mine so don't use them without asking me first. The story is PG. Alouna is white with black ears and a black tip on her tail. Shad is completely black. Other characters will have descriptions in the story. Enjoy!

The characters third-person view is italicized. This only appears for the first few chapters.

~Chapter 1: In The Beginning~

The world for animals is simply amazing; for they have different abilities that help make the Earth complete. Many natives, who lived in Canada at the time, thought that some of these creatures had magical powers. Some of which, could be spirits. Others, just ordinary beings. A great history is shown for two of Canada's most corageous, daring, wolves. Meeting as pups, to triumph as adults, to their deaths.

Wolves, at the time, ruled the Vancouver forests. They were great conquerors, and peaceful creatures. All of which, excellent guardians, leaving many of the "spirits" being wolves. The two pups' ancestors gave history, now it is their turn. It's their turn to change their lives. They'll meet many others, and get even to their old threats.

~Chapter 2: First Meet~

Alouna:Life is never easy on your own. Your survival depends on you and you alone. If you mess up it's all over. My stepbrother and I were on our own for almost all of our lives, then we realized that we had to fight back.

Alouna and Shadow (Shad) were not treated the best for their age. Shad was alone, and he always was the "I can and will do it by myself" type. He hated being assisted and thought the others under his rank were worthless. Alouna was set upon by a foe pack, which caused her family to get her to safety, as in "tossing" her away. It was fate that this happened. The two were supposed to meet and make an attempt to bring peace between humans and animals.

When the two first met Alouna gave a warning growl as Shad gave a feirce look as they both bared their teeth. This was all broken by the sound of a mountain lion.

The pups turned around and knew that if they were to survive this moment, they would need to work together and escape and or kill that cat. Alouna was ready for a fight and Shad had a calm look on his face, but he still was dying to go into combat.

"I can't crawl out of here and not be seen," he thought to himself. "It's impossible..."

He jerked his head up. " Wait.. The other pup.... I.... * groan, quiet sigh* I need her help.." He turned around, but Alouna was not there. "Great." Shadow said aloud.

The wild cat yowled in pain. Shad turned to see Alouna biting its ear. "Hey, I just gave you a chance to attack." She said to the puzzled pup. Shad ran to the other side of the mountain lion and jumped on its face as Alouna jumped down. Shad shoved his paw into its left eye and it fell to the ground; unconscios.

Shad made a motion with his snout that meant 'move'.

They left the mountain together; and during that fight, Alouna noticed Shad's eyes. Black as coal.

~Chapter 3: A Disturbing Past~

Shad: After I met Alouna, my whole life had changed; everything became..... Simple. Ok. Kinda simple. We were still were faced with challanges, but we took them willingly. We really made a good team.

Shad and Alouna had spent much of their lives together after that. As Shad said above, they made a really good team. They would later see just how good.

It is now that night and Alouna can't get off the fact of Shad's black eyes during battles. Finally, she asked why. Shadow's response didn't come quickly. At last he replied.

"When I was a young pup, I was abandoned. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. Next I walked on and on for a couple of days before I was set by hunters."

Alouna's eyes were filled with interest. Shad could tell, and he went on.

"I bite one of their guns and they had to swing it around until it hit me on a tree trunk. I was unconcious for a minute before they realized that I was still alive. I woke up to the sight of a rifle pointing right at my face."

"And.....!" Alouna wanted every detail.

Shad sighed. Then he went on.

"It was fiered."

Alouna gasped. " You're still alive, though. How did you do it?"

"I wasen't shot. I just narrowly dodged it."

"What does this have to do with coal eyes during battle---"

"I'm getting to that."

As Shad continued his story, Alouna became even more eager to hear what was coming next. She constantly pestered Shad with questions, like shown above.

"Then he fired again. This time, it was almost a direct hit."

Alouna gasped loudly, her jaw dropping in astonishment, and her eyes filled with excitement.

"It got me." He said.

"Yes??" Alouna pleaded

"It got me in the face."

Alouna suddenly lost her intrest and felt a little sick.

"It wasent serious, though. It did hurt."

"What about your-"

Shad stared at her, annoyed.

"Sorry." She said. Shadow continued.

"Then, suddenly, something made me blind for a minute. I knew what was going on, only the humans were running from me; a young pup. Why? I don't know. Then I went to a lake, and I could see, but I still seemed blind. My eyes were black and empty. A few minuted later, I was fine. They were back to their regular colour."

"So when you fight, um after that, you become 'blind with rage'?" Alouna questioned.

"I think so." Shad answered.

"And then you're fine?"

"Yes."

"You know, my past wasen't that great either. Wanna know what mine was like?"

Shad nodded. He told her his story, she told him her story.

"Well, I started out with a good life. Then when my pack was going to hunt, our rival pack attacked us. Everyone fought, the parents tried to defend their pups, but most of it didn't work. I tried fighting and managed to take down a few of them."

Shad nodded when she paused, as if telling her to continue.

As Alouna got further down her story, she paused more and more. Shad didn't have the slightest clue of why. Alouna tried to continue with a longer part each time, but had to pause longer and longer every time.

"And when the Alphas were taken out, everyone began to lose hope. They were so weak that I couldn't understand."

Alouna: I had a really disturbing past; the only thing around me was death. And I couldn't take it. I needed to calm down before I could tell Shad my story. This took a lot of time, so I'll just tell you as I told him after I built myself up.

Alouna shook her head and buried it in her paws. Shad looked away, feeling that if he looked directly at her, she would feel embarassed. "Um..Are you going to tell me the rest?" Shadow asked calmly, hoping this would make her feel better. Alouna looked at him and neither spoke. They hardly blinked, moved or even twitched at all. Alouna's green eyes looked straight into Shad's sky blue ones, and his were directly on Alouna's.

"Huh?" Alouna questioned childly.

"Uh..What? Do I have something in my eye?" Shad asked with his 'mental-like' tone.

Alouna could not tell him any more at the present time, but Shad had not told her the REAL past of his. He told her a lie for a reason; he didn't want his reson to get out to just anyone, and he had to wait until he knew he could trust her.

~Chapter 4: Shad's Remedy~

Shad lay in the corner of the den they had slept in and he wanted to leave. He couldn't leave Alouna alone, but he had the feeling of something that was going to happen. He didn't like the way it felt, and he felt sick to his stomach but whatever was holding him down would not come out. He couldn't even speak.

Alouna, fast asleep, didn't notice the suffering Shad was feeling. Shad's body heated up and he lay on the ground half unconcious. He breathed quietly and heavily trying to remeber what his puppy hood, his REAL puppy hood started like, It raced in his mind slowly and faintly, until his mind couldn't take it; he passed out.

Still, in his mind was the small times in his puppy hood when he was with his brother. They were outcasts and only had each other to depend on. Shad never met his mother and only knew his father for a couple of weeks. His older brother, Shiro (I know, a random name for male and female wolf characters of mine, please bear with me), was constantly answering questions about them.

Shad remembered what he had gone through then; the black wolf fought him. Shad needed to get away, and was too late. The wolf had savagly hurt him, and left him scarred all over. This affected him in battle. His eyes would go black as coal because of the rage and pressure he was put in. Trying to escape this one's wrath was almost impossible; he had killed Shiro, and though that was hard, and that Shiro was one of the strongest wolves anyone had ever seen, he was destroyed brutaly.

Shad's eyes became black at that moment, he was mad and his heart crushed. Shiro, his only brother, was the only thing he had. He had friends, but a few, and they fled from the forest that was their promised home.

Something struck Shad before he could remember any more. He quickly darted up with no warning and tried to sit down again. Alouna stared at him as he struggled. Shadow grunted and could not move his body, yet he was standing perfectly. His muscles would not budge and he soon found himself with black eyes and a blank stare on the outside, on the inside was a terror moment that he struggled to
