everyone to stop their conversations, and look at what she was growling at. Before anyone else saw, Seam snapped out of his rabid trance and wipped the foam from his mouth in haste, and just started to stare the wolf down without breaking out again.

"Pyro," Dingo said to the wolf, "I think you should leave the big Husky alone now," he had a sense of fear in hs voice, and a hint of 'I know why your growling at him.' The wolf's eyes went to Dingo and then back at Seam. She resented and walked to the other side of the room, away from the newcomer.

"Well," Balto said cheerfully, breaking into everyone's thoughts, "It's getting late, we should all be getting home right about now," all the dogs nodded and yawned, and walked toward their homes. Seam followed the crowd after the last dog left, paying no attention to the four remaining figures. Balto, Kodi, Dingo, and Pyro were still in the room, obviously waiting for the right time to speak about what had just occurred; at least that's what Balto thought.

"What are you doing here Dingo?" Kodi snapped at his brother. Dingo glared at his brother with narrow eyes and pinned ears, "No one invited you here; especially your new pet!" Dingo stood up straight with his perked in surprise. Kodi was never this mad at him before; maybe he was wrong about his brother not hesistating to hurt him. Or maybe Kodi was only getting back at him for the insult.

"Kodi!" Balto snapped at his eldest son, unaware of why he was acting up, "What's wrong with you two!? And Kodi, you know better than to insult a guest!"

Kodi said nothing to his father and he walked over to one of the pillows, giving his brother one last glare before plopping down and closing his eyes in a fake sleep. Balto turned his attention to Dingo, who was trying to sneak out of the room. Balto growled authoritively at his leaving son. Dingo stopped in the doorway and sighed loudly, going back into the boiler room sulkily with his head lowered like a puppy waiting to get a beating for doing something wrong. Balto just looked down upon him and sighed disappointingly.

"What happened with you two?" Balto asked calmly, "Your brother and you were such good friends when you were pups; why are you fighting now?"

Dingo said nothing, and Balto continued with his lecture, while the she-wolf just sat still patiently, waiting to be addressed.

"Why are you acting so different? Why aren't you following your dreams Dingo? Kodi did, and look where he ended up."

"It's all about Kodi!" Dingo growled, as he lifted his head up to his father's face in anger, "It always has been! Kodi this, Kodi that, why can't you be more like Kodi, Dingo? Your brother, Kodi, did this today Dingo, what have you done? Kodi, Kodi, Kodi, Kodi!! I'm sick of him, I'm sick of this town, and I'm sick of you! I'M NOT KODI, AND I'LL NEVER BE HIM!" Dingo turned and trotted up to the door and paused. He was shaking with anger and fear, unsure on what to do next. When he was a pup, he would go outside and mess up while Kodi did everything else perfectly. While his dad would come to him, Dingo, and ask him why he did it. But all he ever did was cower down and take the beating, but not this time; the only one who was ever kind to him was his master; not even his mother, Jenna, would be happy with him. All she would do was just look at him and say his name in anger and sadness at the same time.

"Dingo," a sad voice called him. He glanced over and saw Pyro looking at him, both of her eyes sparkling in wonder and another hint of disappointment. Just like his mother's gleam. He just smirked and ran out of the boiler room in a rage. He wondered if anyone would care if he died. Nobody, he thought; and he disappeared into the night, not noticing the dark figure that followed him in the shadows.

"Pardon my son's anctions," Balto said to Pyro, who was watching Dingo run, "He's never acted that way before; I never knew he hated Kodi that much."

The wolf kept staring at the darkness as Dingo's figured disappeared into the darkness. Balto waited for a while for a reply, but the she-wolf kept staring. As he started to turn his back, the wolf spoke, "It is not only the brother he hates. He hates the world, and will keep hating like a demon and cannot be stoped until the warrior comes to kill it."

"Are you suggesting that I kill my son?" Balto asked angrily.

"No." she said dully, "At least, not physically. His anger is the demon who controls him, he needs to regain control over himself."

"So who's the warrior going to be?" Balto asked, thinking it was going to be either him or someone else from the family.

The wolf looked at Balto and stared at him in the eyes, her gaze paralyzing Balto in his place, "Dingo." the wolf stood and walked over to the burner and laid down next to it, "I bet you're wondering why he brought me here."

"Of other things, yes," Balto replied, sitting down.

"Then I should start with why I almost faught the new dog." and Pyro told Balto what she her puppy-hood was like, and what happened afterward.

Just before dawn, Pyro woke up and looked around her surroundings. No one was there but herself, and that's what worried her. No Dingo. She got up, stretched, and ran out of the room and sniffed the ground for his scent. She caught a weak trace of it, and followed. Even though it was weak, it was still a trail. The wind pierced through her warm fur and dried her throat, making it hard for her to breath; but she kept searching. She ran past a battered boat and into the forest. She continued to sniff and finally found Dingo. He was sitting in front of a frozen pond that had a large hole in it after a fisherman caught his fish. She walked up to him and sat down next to him, neither of them spoke.

Finally, Pyro spoke first as the sun reached the horizon, "There are two roads for everyone to chose from," she started. Dingo still stared at the water flapping against the edge of the fisherman hole, "One road leads to death, and the other will lead you to continue on with you life. When you encounter these two roads at the same time you have a choice. The only problem is, both roads look the same. The road of death smells the same as the other, and senses the same as the life one; but there is one thing that will guide you to the right one."

There was a pause between the two; and this time Dingo spoke, "What's the guide?"

Pyro looked at him and said with the same plain voice he first heard when they met, "Your heart."

Another long pause, and Dingo spoke up questioningly, "I can see my two roads now, but why do they look different now?"

"The roads are different to everyone," Pyro continued, "They may look different, but they really are the same. But, when your time is up in the world, only one road will appear; and I beleive you know which one it is."

Dingo nodded and looked back at the water, thinking of whether a death by water would be painful. he could feel Pyro's eyes looking at him, but with no expression.

"The road you choose to go on though, is your choice." he heard her get up and walk away slowly. Dingo thought over what she said, even if it was a bunch of gibberish to him, and felt a warm feeling inside of him. He returned to his one question as he stared at the water; would anyone miss him if he died? Then one name came to him: Pyro. Even though it's only been two days, he cares for her. And apparently she cares for him too, if she came all this way to find him. He got up and ran after her with a grin on his face. He stopped to find her scent, but found something else; a trap to catch an animal's leg with sharp unbreakable teeth. He stared at it and backed away from it slowly.

GGGRRRHRAACCCKKK!!!! Dingo perked up his ears after hearing the sound. It sounded like three canines fighting, and out of the bushes came Pyro with her fangs showing. She retreated away from the bush with her fangs bared and fur raised. As Dingo stepped forward, two wolverines emerged from the bushes that Pyro came out of, each of them with blood on their muzzles. His eyes widened and he looked over at Pyro more closely, and saw three wounds upon her chest forehead.

"Pyro?" he whispered in concern. She didn't hear him, and he didn't care if she did. The wolverines started to circle around her in two different directions, one went left and the other went right. Dingo trotted over to the one closest to him, and then he broke out into a full-out charge. The wolverine was watching Pyro, and was paying Dingo no attention until he attacked it. Dingo rammed into the savage and bit down into the side of its neck. The wolverine growled and snarled, clawing and snapping at Dingo but only its claws succeeded. The wolverine's claws scratched at Dingo's face, causing him to bleed immensley. Dingo bit down harder as he heard the second wolverine and Pyro fight. Finally, the wolverine's clawing stopped and Dingo bit down one more time, making sure it was dead, and looked over at Pyro.

She was on the ground, snarling and growling at the wolverine and
