Steele sighed

Steele sighed. He sat on the deck of his home. He looked the stars weaving their way through the deep blue sky. He thought about what Jenna said yesterday: “Someday that special someone will come.”

“Whatever.”

“Steele!!” his owner, Gunner Kasson, called, “Steele, get over here!”

Steele normally immediately got up at the sound of his name. He was always excited to see what he wanted, but not today. He sauntered over to his owner. But to his surprise, a beautiful brown, black and tan female Alaskan malamute with a new pink collar stood slyly next to Kasson. Steele’s eye’s widened. His tongue lolled out of his mouth.

Without thinking he rushed over to greet her. He put on his ‘Hey there’ look.

“Hey there. You must be tired. Because you’ve been running through my mind all day long.” He smiled.

“Well…,”

“Steele!”

“That’s it! Steele. Well Steele, how long have you been around here?”

“Uhh… I don’t believe I caught your name,” Steele said.

“Don’t believe I dropped it,” she said walking away.

“Wow!” Steele said, “That is one fine dog.”

“Nikki, Kaltag!”

“What about me?” Star inquired.

“You wouldn’t understand,” Steele growled.

“So, what’s the 411?” Nikki asked.

“Well, last night, Kasson brought this really beautiful dog home. She’s black, brown, and tan and had a really nice pink diamond studded collar.”

“What’s her name?” Kaltag asked.

“Dunno. She didn’t say, but man she was fine!” Steele said.

“Angel,” Star chimed in.

“How’d you know?” Kaltag looked at Star.

“She’s my sister. So, Steele, you’ve been hittin’ on my sister, punk?” Star said as he got up straight into Steele’s face.

“Lay off, stupid!” Steele bit into Star’s back and threw him to the wall.

“I bet Star’s gonna’ kick the bucket right here and now!” Nikki said to Kaltag.

“STAR!”

“Angel?” Star guessed.

“Why are you hurting my new BOYFRIEND?” she scolded him.

“Boy friend?”

“Boy friend?”

“Boy friend?”

“That’s right. Boy friend. You gotta’ a problem with that?” Angel said.

“Come on Angel,” Steele smiled, “Let’s go have dinner.”

They walked along the snow covered path to a small Italian restraint. They went through a back alley to a small table.

There they were served a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs. They had breadsticks and the finest of wines.

In the background, you could her music.

They began to eat. And when it came down to one of the last noodles, Steele was at one end and Angel at the other. They slurped the noodle down to the middle, boom! The were nose to nose. They seemed to stay frozen like that for quite a while. Steele grinned. Angel smiled.

They walked off into the sunset.

“Angel,”

“Yes Steele..”

But before she could finish they were nose to nose yet again.

“I love you Angel,” Steele said hugging her.

“I love you too Steele.”
