Chapter 1

 

Kone stood out on the cliff he’s head spun. Frightfull his sister sat down next to him her blue bandana around her neck. She smiled.

“You like to sit here?”

“Yep” Kone shrugged. He turned to his sister. Her black fur sparkled in the sun. her alert green eyes were sharp and of course alert. He looked back at the sky.

“It’s going to snow.” he frowned. Frightfull turned and nodded.

“yep” She plopped down.

“we’d better….” It was to late the snow started to fall. It started soft and pleasant but slowly it turned into a blizzard. The strongest blizzard the pups had ever seen.

“Come on Fright” he got up and turned. As he did a gust of wind blew he stood still he lowered his head against the wind and stood fast. He stood there not moving, but he heard a terrible and a lot to familiar scream.

“Fright!” He spun around. Frightfull was clinging to the edge of the cliff.

“HELP KONE HELP!” she cried. Kone leaped into action running to help his sister, but again a giant gust of wind made Kone have to stop for a second. He heard a scream and he rushed to the cliff. Frightfull was gone.

“Fright!” his eyes darted around viciously around for his sister but all he could see was the snow blowing wildly. Kone turned around and sadly trudged back to his den. She had to be dead there was no way she could have lived. He had lost his last living family member and it was his fault.

***(Frightfull)

 

Fright shivered.

“Kone?” she looked up. Kone was blocked by the snow. She stood but fell. Her leg throbbed. She cried.

“help!”

 

 

Chapter 2

 

Shawn sprawled over the snow.

“boy Kodi that was the biggest meal I’ve ever had!” The 19 year old boy looked at his husky . Kodi yipped. Shawn Simpson was a future musher, and smiled as he looked at his hopefully future lead dog. hadn’t he got Balto’s blood in him? Kodi ears went straight. He started to bark and yip wildly. Shawn sat up.

“What is it boy?” He looked at the horizon.

“Well, well.” He noticed what Kodi had been barking at. A wolf pup was limping down the snow covered path. She was the most beautiful wolf he had ever seen. She was black with a white moon marking on her forehead. She glanced up and froze. Her green eyes sparkled. Shawn saw she had been though quit a tussle to survive and he felt pity for her.

***(Kodi)

 

Kodi took a instant liking to the wolf pup he could tell she was about his age. He ran up to her. She being a wolf turned and ran away in fear but Kodi being the fast canine he was took over quickly and blocked her path. She skidded to a stop. Unfortunately that stop made her head jerk forward. Kodi leaned in to help her but instead they found themselves with there muzzles touching so that they were also touching lips. Kodi pulled back.

“You aren’t going to kill me are you?” She cocked her head.

“Why would I kill such a beautiful…..umm I mean young wolf like you?” Kodi gazed at this wolf.

“what’s your name?”

“Frightfull.” The wolf blushed slightly at Kodi’s comment.

“Frightfull.” Kodi repeated it.

“Oh that sounded stupid.” Kodi thought

“If you want her at least try to sound intelligent.”

 

***(Frightfull)

 

He had called her beautiful. She gulped. This dog like her was in his adolescence, She looked him down he was rust and cream. His eyes were a chocolate brown, and he was reasonably muscular.

“Umm may I ask you your name young sir?” she asked.

“huh oh Kodiack but you can call me Kodi.” The dog shrugged.

“Kodi look like you found a friend.” Frightfull and Kodi turned around to see a tall blonde boy walking towered them. Frightfull panicked.

“Don’t worry.” Kodi reassured her.

 

“He won’t hurt you.” and it was true the boy smiled and picked up Frightfull as he did this her banana fell off. The last thing she had of her family. The boy wrapped her in a blanket and started in the other direction.

“Come on Kodi let’s get Frightfull home.” The boy called. Kodi ran after.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 3

 

Kone walked out of his den. Three months today he had lost his sister. He sighed.

“Poor Fright.” he hung his head.

“Who’s Fright?” a new voice made Kone jump. He looked up. A male wolf stood in front of him. In fact there were three! Two males and one female. The males were a light brown with a black underbelly and tail tip. The female was tan with various orange markings. She smiled at Kone and Kone retuned it .

“I was talking about my sister she died three months ago.”

“Aww you poor thing.” The female gave a pity look.

“Oh Kenca your such a softie.” teased the bigger male.

“So are you Kola.” The female who was obviously Kenca shot back.

“You both are softies.” growled the smaller male.

“So are you Java.” The bigger male who was called Kola. The male he addressed as Java rolled his eyes.

“so what’s your name?” asked Kenca.

“Kone.” Kone shrugged.

***(Kenca)

Kenca looked over Kone he was gray and rust. His eyes were blue. In his eyes Kenca saw amounts of misery. He had been though a lot. Of course she wasn’t going to nose in on his personal life. She had been some miserable times too.

“Hay I got an idea!” yipped Java.

“what?” asked Kone.

“why don’t you live with us?”

“Great idea.” Kola rolled his eyes.

“You used to be so nice.” Kenca snapped.

“Yea I got over it.” Kola shrugged.

“Stop being such a horses ***” Java said.

“don’t mind him. My name is Java and this is my sister Kenca and Mr. Softie over here is my brother Kola.”

“And the stupid wolf is a stupid wolf” Kola finished.

“So do want to live us?” Kenca asked.

“sure why not.” Kone shrugged.

 

 

Chapter 4:

(one year later)

Kodi rolled over. Frightfull groaned.

“Kodi your lying on my tail.”

“sorry.” mumbled Kodi as rolled back.

“Shut up you two I can’t sleep.” mumbled a sleepy grayish blue husky.

“how can we Ralph when you snore so loud?.” Frightfull snapped.

“you want to start something?” Ralph snapped back.

“oh be quiet both of you.” moaned Kodi’s brother Dingo.

“you.” barked Frightfull and Ralph at the same time.

“you all be quiet or I’ll get a whooping on both of you all’s” yelled the only female on the team Dusty. It worked Frightfull lied down next to Kodi and Ralph plopped next to Dusty. Dingo closed his eye’s and soon Kodi could hear Ralph snoring. Kodi tossed and turned he couldn’t sleep. He got up and walked out of the barn.

***(Dusty)

 

Dusty slid one eye open. Kodi was gone. She stood and slipped out. She found Kodi sitting on the beach he was singing something. Dusty knew Kodi could sing very beautifully. So she crept closer. She could just barely catch the words.

 

“If only ,If only.” The woodpecker sighs

“The bark on this tree was a little bit softer.”

While the wolf waits below hungry and lonely.

He cries to the MOO-OO-OON.

If only if only

 

“It’s beautiful isn’t it? The voice made Dusty jump. Frightfull stood next to her.

“I was taught the song a little differently.”

“how did it go?” Dusty asked. Frightfull smiled.

“If only, If only” The moon speaks no reply;

Reflecting the sun and all that’s gone by.

Be strong my weary wolf, turn around boldly.

Fly high my baby bird,

My angel my only.

Frightfull ended it with howl. Dusty nodded.

“It is beautiful” Kodi had obviously heard them cause he came trotting over.

Flashback.

 

Balto growled playfully

“come on Jolt.” he batted his brother’s ear.

“mom is going to take us to that hill thingy.”

“What?” Jolt raised his head.

“I said…….”

“No shh listen.” Jolt placed a paw over his brother’s mouth.

“If only, if only” the woodpecker sighs.

“the bark on this tree was a little bit softer.”

While the wolf wait’s below hungry and lonely .

Howling to the MO-OO-ON

If only if only.

 

“gosh that was pretty.” Balto said in a mesmerized voice.

 

“Yea I wonder who was singing.” Jolt stood up and looked around the den.

“Well he or she is not in here.” Balto announced. Just then there mother walked in.

“Hi mom” Jolt ran to his mom. His mom did not answer him only kept humming. The tune took Balto two seconds to recognize.

“You were the one singing weren’t you!” he yipped. His mother just smiled and continued to hum.

 

Flash forward

 

Kodi, Dusty and Frightfull stood out on the beach, each not wanting to break the beautiful silence that surrounded them. The dark seemed to swallow them and they got the cozy feeling one gets when there with the ones they love, but all to quickly the darkness turned
