"Elliot? Oh Elliot, what did he do to you?"
Elliot coughed raggedly, a line of blood dripping from his mouth. Heather buried her face in his fur.
Frost smirked from the doorway, and pointed at Dingo "You. Move it. Now"
Dingo sighed, getting to his feet with his head hung. He cast a look at Heather, who stared at him with fearful eyes. He smiled faintly to reassure her.
"I'll be okay" he whispered, before stepping out of the room. Frost slammed the door shut and Heather heard the lock clang.
"I hope so Dingo" she whispered.
--------------------------------------------
Dingo coughed as he impacted with the floor, tasting blood at the back of his throat. Frost leered down at him.
"Now stay down there until I tell you to get up!" the German Shepherd growled.
Dingo watched as Frost sat down a few feet away from him, a sickly smirk plastered on his face.
"Tell me Dingo, what do you know about 'The Pack'?"
Dingo lifted his head up carefully, and leered at Frost "You tried to murder my mother and turn my Dad rabid!" he growled.
Frost laughed "Yep, that sounds like Carver. I always knew that one day it'd finish him, and you proved that didn't you?" he growled.
Dingo remained silent. Frost's smirk returned to his face.
"I think me and you need to have a chat. I think you need to know a bit more about me and my brother before you judge us"
Dingo just scowled as Frost stood up.
"Let me tell you about my brother Dingo. You might have wondered why he went after your father Balto in the first place, huh? Well, that was because they were similar in so many ways! Do you know how?"
Frost moved closer, causing Dingo to flinch back.
"They were similar, because both of them were half breeds! Half dog, and half wolf! I bet you didn't know that, did you?"
Dingo stared at Frost, who let out a laugh.
"You see the thing is Dingo, is that my mother was what you and I would refer to as a...tramp. By that I mean she was very flexible when it came to mates. And the first mate she shacked up with was the Alpha of a wolf clan on the outskirts of Isaloosa"
Dingo just stared as Frost continued.
"Now, they seemed happy together, my mother and this wolf whose name was Desna, 'The Boss' in inuit language. So happy in fact, that they had a son. Carver"
Frost sniggered "Now, you'd think after that that my mother would settle down wouldn't you? Wrong! She was a common tramp, always looking out for the next dog to come along and sweep her off her feet! And about a year later, she met that dog"
Dingo flinched as Frost let out a growl.
"That bitch left Desna and my brother for a mail dog in Isaloosa who she met whilst scavenging round town. They hit it off well. So well in fact, that she left Desna for this dog. Of course, Desna didn't know about this of course, but nether the less she left him, and a few weeks later she got pregnant. With me"
Frost's grin widened "When I was born, I had no idea of my wolf heritage. My mother kept it a secret, mostly because she didn't want my 'father' to find out apart her previous mate, and accuse her of adultery. But of course, it all came out in the end"
Frost moved closer to Dingo, his teeth glistening from his wide grin.
"Desna found out about her new mate, and tracked her to Isaloosa. When he found her and my father, he was quite rightly furious. So furious in fact, that he tore out my fathers throat and dragged my mother back to the cave for trial. They sentenced her to the gauntlet"
Dingo shivered. He had heard of the gauntlet from Aleu whilst they had been at the cave. It involved the accused being forced to walk through a thin passage of wolves, who would continually bite and claw at the accused until they reached the end of the path. The injuries sustained were nearly always horrendous, and the accused was then banished from the pack for life.
Frost shook his head "That silly tramp had it coming. When they'd finished with her, she couldn't get out of that cave fast enough! Leaving me alone amongst a pack of wolves who I didn't know at all"
Frost smiled, this time it was pleasant and not cruel.
"And then I met my brother. And we hit it off right from the start!"
The German Shepherd sighed, casting a leering glance at Dingo before continuing.
"I stayed in that pack until I was two, and Carver was three and a half. After that, we started roaming. My brother knew how to get around people, and how to get into high positions of power within the towns and canine communities. We wound up in Applegate after a few months, and thats when the fun really began!"
Frost licked his lips, his gaze never leaving Dingo.
"Carver became the judge after only a fortnight of being in that town! It was so simple, the old judge just...didn't show up one day, and after that it was easy for Carver to secure the role. He was so trustworthy, and so easy to talk to" he sniggered.
"Then one day, Carver got ill," He continued. "He'd eaten a slice of rabbit meat that had contracted rabies, and it didn't take long for the infection to set in. And that's when Carver really came into his own!"
Dingo gulped. He could tell where the story was heading now.
"We decided to teach the town a lesson, a new breed of dog! It was all Carver's idea. Within a week, we had initiated five members of 'The Pack'. Carver, myself, Vladimir, Krest and Renard, and Pryce. A week later, we met Grant"
Dingo shivered at the mention of the name, and memories came flooding back of Grant's mauled face staring back at him.
"Grant had made a reputation for himself in Applegate, even before we first turned up! He was known in the canine community as 'The Nightstalker', preying on gullible females who were taken in by his charm and good lucks. He was an expert! We just had to have him in our team! So one night, we followed him to one of his usual haunts. We took him by surprise. He struggled like a maniac, but after just one bite from Carver he became...much more compliant"
Frost leaned his face right up to Dingo, his eyes burning holes in his head.
"We became know in Applegate as 'The Pack', and by the time that idiot Chester got onto us, we had taken out twelve dogs! But we got cocky, and Pryce got caught in the act by Chester and his team. That scumbag thought he'd stopped us, but he couldn't have been further from the truth!"
"Pryce was brought to trial, but of course...Carver was the judge! But unfortunately...Pryce got sick. Within a couple of days he was dead. A shame really, he was really devoted to our cause" he grinned evilly at Dingo.
Dino gulped "So you...followed Chester?"
Frost nodded "Yep! Carver had managed to get old Chester boy to blurt out a couple of family secrets that we found really useful. After Pryce died, we dispersed, and headed for Anchorage. We had to keep a low profile, but we still had fun! We came to town with four members, and by the end we had sixteen! Grant got involved with Chester's daughter, and became our spy when Chester got involved in our dealings again. Oh, you should have been there! It was fantastic!"
Frost laughed, unstoppable giggles escaping his throat.
"But all good things come to an end, hey Dingo?" Frost flexxed his claws. "That night, we were ambushed by the humans and their dogs. We didn't stand a chance against their guns, so we retreated. We lost five guys that night, and that was when I decided to make a break for it. I was the only one who wasn't rabid, but I'd been seen. I had to move, and fast"
Dingo saw Frost slump dejectedly.
"So I left. The last I heard of Carver, he was heading to Nome with the rest of 'The Pack', going to bag the biggest haul ever. Your Dad!"
Dingo flinched back as Frost reared himself up, his eyes burning savagely.
"And now, enough talk. Lets get back to basics, huh?"
Dingo curled up, as Frost bared down on him.

Jenna watched on as Balto continued to wear a hole through the carpet, pacing back and forth deep in thought.
"There has to be a way to prove that Lance didn't do it" he said, his brow furrowed.
Jenna nodded. She, like Balto, was one hundred percent certain that Lance was innocent.
"The only question is...how?" Balto continued.
"Maybe we should talk to Chester, get him to vouch for Lance" Jenna said. Balto's face lit up.
"That's it! Jen, your a genius!" he licked her cheek in delight.
"I have my moments" Jenna smiled. Balto nuzzled her.
"Hey, am I interrupting anything?" Toby said as he padded into the room, a wry smile on his face.
"Toby, how would you like to meet your new sisters?" Balto smiled.
"Sure. Where do they live?" Toby asked.
Balto and Jenna looked at each other, knowing smiles on their faces.
--------------------------------------------
"How is he Kaltag?" Doc asked as Kaltag padded out of the vets.
Kaltag shook his head "Still no change"
Doc sighed "So it looks like I'll have to postpone the legal arrangements"
Kaltag nodded "Looks like it. How did Balto take the news?"
Doc shook his head "Not well. In fact, not well at all"
"I'm not surprised. Lance is his friend, and it's always hard when it gets personal" Kaltag said.
"Personal or not, I have a duty to the law. Balto will understand...in time" Doc sighed.
The two dogs walked off, and into an alleyway that led to the main street.

I liked this one as well as the others Now I know the history of
The Pack, but good, you left room for another sequel! I just hope it
doesn't start out with murders again...no offense but it's getting
kind of old. And WHAT'S gonna happen to Vance??! I still remember what
Grant did to him in Return Threat! Anyhoo, keep up the good work,
