famous has its benefits, huh?" Toby smirked, finishing off the last slice of meat.
Balto rolled his eyes "I'm not a hero Toby, I can't tell you that enough"
"Sure Balto. Whatever you say" the pup winked at him. Balto smiled.
"Well...well...well! Look who showed back up on my turf!" a voice growled from behind them.
Toby gulped "Not him" he whimpered.
Balto turned round, to be confronted by a white husky about his size, leering blue eyes aimed at Toby.
"I thought I told you to stay of my turf runt!" the dog growled.
Toby shivered and took a step back "I'm sorry Storm. It won't happen again"
"You bet it won't, cos now I'm gonna have to teach you another lesson!" Storm snarled, ignoring Balto and taking a step forwards.
"Is this the guy who hurt you Toby?" Balto asked, his eyes resting on Storm. Toby nodded.
"Yeah. Come on Balto, lets go. This guys bad news" the pup said, shaking in panic.
"This ain't got nothing to do with you, so push off!" Storm leered at Balto.
"Feel tough do you, terrifying a little pup? Why don't you pick on someone your own size?" Balto growled.
Storm snorted "Like you old man? Please, I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself!"
Balto stepped defensively in front of Toby "I won't let you hurt him again" he warned.
Storm growled "Fine. I'll show you as well not to tresspass on my turf!"
The two canines glared at each other, before they both launched at the other. It happened so fast. Balto slashed at Storms right eye, causing the husky to howl out in pain. But he was knocked off guard as Storm sideswiped him before delivering a painful kick to the ribs. Balto tasted blood as Storm clawed at his face. He shook out of the huskies grasp before grabbing Storm by the leg with his teeth, and biting down. Hard.
Toby watched in astonishment as Storm was swung round, still with his leg trapped in Balto's grip, and slammed to the ground. Before he could recover himself, Balto placed his paw firmly on the top of his head, pinning him down.
"Now...get off my turf!" Balto growled, releasing his paw from Storm's head. The husky jumped to his feet and bolted away. Toby stared wide-eyed at Balto.
"Blimey! Where'd you learn to fight like that?" he gawped.
Balto shook his head "I've had a lot of past practice" he said, recalling past confrontations with Steele and his lacky's.
Toby whistled "Wow, I'm stunned! Storm's a really tough guy, and you beat him! Can you teach me to fight like that?"
"Maybe when your older" Balto smiled, laying a paw around Toby. "He won't bother you again"
Toby smiled up at Balto "Thanks Balto. No ones ever done something like that for me before"
"My pleasure Toby. Come on then, Jenna will be getting worried" Balto said, as the two of them set off for home.

In the old mill, Doc and Kaltag were in heated discussion.
"Doc, I'm sorry, but I think you are wrong on this" Kaltag said.
"Kaltag, he was the only one in the boiler room. No one else was there, and no one has come forward to suggest the otherwise. I'm sorry, but it leaves me very little option" Doc answered.
Kaltag sighed "So, you think Lance murdered that girl?"
"It seems likely, though I really don't want to admit it. Lance is a good friend of mine" Doc sighed.
"And me" Kaltag remarked.
Doc nodded "Which is why this is so difficult for me to do"
"You've been wrong before Doc" Kaltag said. Doc sighed.
"I know, but until I see evidence to suggest otherwise...Lance is the prime suspect. For murder"

Dingo padded out of the dog barn. It was getting dark, and he had only now just managed to drag himself away from the others. Not that he minded, Kirby and Ralph were always good for a laugh, and he had struck up conversation with Louis on topics ranging from sled racing to the weather. Now he was looking forward to a good nights sleep in a warm bed.
As he past the boiler room, something caught his eye. Turning his head to the left, he saw a dark shape disappear into the shadows a split second too late.
"What the...?" he said aloud, padding closer with care. He found himself next to a large water barrel, and there was no sign of anyone else apart from himself.
"I need to get hom quick. I'm seeing things" he chuckled softly, shaking his head.
He never saw what hit him.
Out of the darkness, a paw impacted with the side of his head, knocking him head first into the water barrel with a dull thud. His vision spinning, he could just about make out his attacker.
"Sweet dreams Dingaling!" the figure growled, before smacking him across the face. His vision exploded into comforting darkness.
If he had been conscious, Dingo would have felt himself being dragged out of the alley, a thin line of blood left against the barrel.

"He reminds me so much of you Balto" Jenna said as she and Balto looked down at the sleeping pup near the fire.
Toby was curled up in front of the fire on the rug. His head was resting on one of his paws, the other paw tucked under his body. His eyes were closed, and his back rose and fell lightly, as a sign that he was breathing, soft snores tumbling into the quiet room now and again.
Balto nodded. Jenna was correct, Toby looked so similar to when he himself was a pup. The same gray fur with lighter markings round his paws and face, and the same amber eyes. And, thought Balto with amusement, the same exciteable attitude.
"Yeah, he does" Balto replied. He turned to Jenna smiling "Remind you of anything?"
Jenna smiled and nodded "The kids, when they were pups. They never wanted to go to sleep, but when they did...they were adorable"
Balto nodded, a thoughtful look on his face "Maybe..." he paused.
Jenna turned to him "Maybe what?"
Balto smiled "Maybe...he doesn't have to leave"
"You mean...he could stay? With us?" Jenna asked.
Balto nodded "If he wanted. He's said so himself, he's all on his own with no one to look after him. We could change that"
Jenna nodded, a maternal smile spreading across her face.
"We'll ask him when he wakes up" Balto said.
Jenna nuzzled him "I hope he'll say yes"
Balto licked her cheek "We'll see"

Dingo was thrown roughly into the room. He hit the ground and rolled, before impacting hard with the wall. A second later, the door slammed shut, and a heavy clang reverberated through the room.
Dingo lay on the floor, shivering. The room was freezing, and every inch of his body was aching. The only thing on his mind was the pain he was feeling.
Frost had done a number on him when he had regained consciousness. Without saying a word, the German Shephed had starting laying into him, clawing and biting at him until he thought he would pass out from the pain. He didn't think he could get back up again from off the floor.
Frost had grinned all throughout the session, his eyes gleaming with malice and hatred. Dingo had never seen such hatred in another dogs eyes before.
When he had finished with him, Frost had drug him towards a locked door. After opening the lock, Frost had thrown him inside.
"That's for Carver! And there's more to come, Dingdong!" he snarled, before slamming the door.
Dingo shivered. Whatever this maniac had to do with Carver, it didn't boed well for whatever he had planned for him.
He felt a line of blood trickle from a cut above his eye, which he wiped with his paw. It stung as he did so.
He sighed, and attempted to shift himself into a more comfortable position. He gasped as bolts of intense pain drilled through him as he attempted to move, and he settled for laying down on the floor.
"What am I going to do?" he thought. No one knew that he was missing, and it might be too late by the time anyone realised something was wrong. Which meant, for now at least, he was stuck.
He shivered at this thought, and lay his head on top of his paws. With a final sigh, he closed his eyes.

Kodi walked over to where Dusty was lying. He was going to surprise her with his arrival.
He cleared his throat with a cough that caused her ears to prick up. Dusty span round, and she smiled.
"Kodi!" she remarked, padding over and nuzzling him.
"Hi Dusty. Miss me?" he said. Dusty shrugged, a sly smile on her face.
"Maybe a little" she joked, licking him on the cheek.
Kodi looked into her eyes. To him, she was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen, and he was ready to ask her something that he had been waiting to ask ever since he had met her.
"Umm...Dusty?" he paused, unsure whether he could continue. Her twinkling eyes looked at him, and he found himself turning a brighter shade of red.
"What is it Kodi?" Dusty asked, noticing his blush. Kodi cleared his throat.
"Dusty...I've wanted to ask you this ever since me and you first got together" Kodi began. "I love you more than anything else in this world, and...I want to ask you...if..." he paused again.
Dusty sat in front of him "If? Kodi, just tell me what you want to say" she smiled at him.
Kodi guped "Dusty...I love you so much. Which is why...I think its time we...you know" he blushed even more,
