aren’t you coming?” The little white wolf asked. Her father frowned. “No honey. Mr. Wheeler wants me. But you will. Your going to a place up north called Anchorage aboard the steamer Aurora. That is why I will leave you here. You must go to the steamship dock and be quick about it.” The pup was about to cry. “But Papa no.” But her father was set. “Go my little Aniu, Go to your future.” Brent was really close to Turning the Pueblo around and helping them. But if he did there would be a chance he would screw up the future. Obviously he had run into Balto’s family past. If he did something he would probably erase Balto off the face of the planet. He just sat at the wheel and listened. The pup was gone. And the wolf was left alone. As he stood there five wolves approached out of the shadows. The white wolf just stood there. “Hello Duncan. I am hoping you have the money you owe us.” Duncan just stood there. “I have no money for you guys. I have done the right thing.” The wolves laughed. “Duncan, this is the third time. I’ve had a rough day. The boss has been having us torture that girl all day. I’m tired and hungry and you just got on my bad side. Take him!” The wolf punched Duncan sending him spiraling backward. He landed on his back. The five wolves jumped him punching him and beating him. Aboard the Pueblo Brent got angrier and angrier. The wolves kept beating Duncan. Finally one of the wolves pulled out a pistol and shot Duncan. The wolves then picked up his body and threw it in the river. Brent was now steaming angry. He pulled out an AK 47 from the future loaded it. And jumped out of the wheelhouse. “Hey what the heel are you!” one of the wolves on dock yipped. But Brent cut them down in five seconds. When he finally put the gun down he realized what had just happened. Balto’s grandfather had been killed. Brent sat down on the deck and decided not to tell Balto this. But he had also just killed off his only way of tracking the villain’s home.
“And that is why I stole the ticket.” The Dalmatian said. Balto sat up out of his own drool. The dog had been boring him. “I asked ware did you get it not how.” The Dalmatian laughed. “That I can’t tell.” He finished his drink and walked out of the pub. Balto right behind him. “I need to know wear.” Balto said following the dog out into the street. The Dalmatian turned around and gave Balto a stern look. “Don’t go looking for Harry Wheeler and his gang of pirates. Not if ye know what’s best for ya.” The Dalmatian then turned and disappeared into the fog.
Balto walked threw the door into the wheelhouse of the Pueblo, and sat next to Brent at the chart table. “No good.” Brent said it was more of a statement then a question. Balto shook his head yes. “You know. I’m not even shire Angel is still alive.” He said. Brent nodded. He then stood up and walked to the wheel. “Come on. We better get this tug back before we lose our warranty.”
Back at the Museum.
Ginger pulled the body bag threw the halls heading for the Dumpster out back. The body of the pirate she killed was starting to stiffen and she didn’t want it to decompose in the museum. “I never thought I would see you with a dead body.” Jenna said. Ginger turned around to see Jenna standing in the hallway. “Bout time you woke up.” She said. Jenna smiled. “I’m a light sleeper.” She then helped Ginger dump the body out back.
Out side the rain was still coming down. Thunder crashed threw the sky. The two dogs ran around front to come back inside and out of the rain. As they shut the front door Jenna noticed something on the stone floor. “Hey what’s this?” Ginger picked it up. It was a parcel. Wrapped up in cloth. “Looks like a package. Look a note.”
Dear Jenna and Ginger.
Well done so far if you haven’t been killed. By now you will have noticed that another artifact, the whistle is gone. But I leave you something in return.
The confederation pirates.
Jenna undid the rapping on the package. Inside was a small pink collar. “Its Angel’s collar.” Ginger gasped. But Jenna laughed. “What is so funny?” Ginger asked annoyed at the fact that Jenna was laughing at the situation. “It looks like the two wolves you stopped left this with the intention of stealing Titanic’s whistle.” Ginger smiled. But her smile quickly turned upside down as she looked at the collar. On the inside strap was a small patch of blood.
Brent and Balto leaned back in their chairs pondering their next move.
‘’We’ve no clues, we’ve no suspects and we defiantly have no Harry Wheeler behind bars. Three strikes; I think we’re out.’’ Brent sighed. Balto nodded his head solemnly.
‘’Unfortunately, I think you’re right Brent,’’ he agreed, ‘’we need something short of a miracle to help us now.’’
Balto leaned back farther on his chair. The front two legs lifted off the ground and the chair’s balance was compromised. Balto yelped as he fell backward into a shelf. A box of bullets fell from the top shelf and landed square on his head. Brent ran up and helped his friend to his feet.
‘’Balto, are you okay?’’ he asked. Balto rubbed his head and nodded slightly.
‘’What landed on my head?’’ he questioned. Brent picked up the bullets and replied, ‘’it’s a box of bullets from the crime scene from Wheeler’s most recent robbery. It’s basically a paperweight now.’’
Brent then thought of something for the first time in his life.
‘’Wait a minute,’’ he replied, ‘’Wheeler is very smart. The one thing he does that prevents the authorities from finding him is that he moves around. One day he’s here, the next he’s there. Balto, I think you might have just found out his next base.’’
Grabbing his magnifying glass, Brent scanned the box and found the bullets’ manufacturer. SILVERSMITH AMMUNITION CO.
‘’I guess our next step is to make a small shopping trip.’’ Balto replied and started to head out. But Brent grabbed his arm.
‘’Hold up Balto,’’ he said, ‘’we’d better bring some firepower. Harry is relentless when it comes to intruders. My AK-47 will be fine, but you’d better get some sort of weapon for yourself.’’
Balto crossed his arms.
‘’And where do you expect me to find a machine gun in the 1890s?’’ he questioned. Brent smiled and pointed under the deck. Balto bent down and peered under the desk. There, taped to the bottom was an M-16. Balto grabbed it and replied, ‘’you do realize this will seriously throw off the Space-Time Continuum?’’
Brent cocked his AK-47 and remarked, ‘’like I haven’t done that before.’’
The museum, 2006, 11:45 AM,
Ginger and Jenna had decided to do a little researching. Jenna grabbed a book entitled Everything You Want to Know About 19th Century England, But Are Afraid to Ask. She flipped through the tons of pages and found a chapter on the law around that time. She flipped forward a few more pages and found a picture of Harry Wheeler, a menacing grin spread across his face. Ginger was reading the paragraph underneath and started to cry.
‘’Ginger, what is it?’’ Jenna asked. Ginger pointed to the paragraph. Jenna read it to herself and gasped.
The law was highly disregarded when the empire fell and thousands of detectives arose to try and stop the crime that was becoming far to common. The most famous detectives-Det. Brent MacWolf and his partner Det. Balto Aniu-were the first of many to be killed by Harry Wheeler before his eventual trail and execution.
‘’Holy shit,’’ Jenna gasped, ‘’those guys are in trouble. I wish Tramp were with them.’’
Suddenly, both girls heard a voice behind them.
‘’Right you are.’’ It said in a devilish tone. Jenna and Ginger whirled around and came face to face with a pack of four thugs. The dog in front looked quite familiar. He stepped into the sunlight and smiled.
‘’Hello Jenna. Ginger.’’
‘’Tramp,’’ Ginger growled, ‘’I knew you were suspicious!’’
Tramp smiled.
‘’Unfortunately, you won’t be alive long enough to tell anyone.’’
Tramp pulled out his pistol, as did his gang. Jenna and Ginger dove to the left as a barrage of bullets cut through the air. Both dogs landed on the ground and turned to run, but Tramp was quicker. Throwing his pistol, he knocked Ginger out cold. Her body fell forward and landed with a crunch. Jenna growled and charged Tramp, who grabbed her around the neck and delivered a Vulcan Neck Pinch. Jenna collapsed and hung limp in his arms. Tramp called to two of his men and replied, ‘’lock ‘em in a storage closet with no air holes. They’ll suffocate a slow and painful death. Just like Harry wanted.’’
The thugs grabbed the two limp girls and threw them roughly into a storage closet. Locking the door, they threw the keys out the window. Tramp smiled and walked out of the museum. On his way,
