The clock tower struck nine

The clock tower struck nine. Down in the cold streets of Atlanta Georgia, drizzle streamed down the windows. At the Atlanta train depot the passenger train Bella notta simmered in the evening mist. The giant Pacific moaned as she rested between stops. In front of the baggage car A Pomeranian paced back and forth Her fur was honey yellow color. Her eyes sparkled like the rainy mist as she stared up at the train that towered over her. The side door slid open and three huskies began to unload a giant wooden crate. “Oh be careful with that!” Angel yipped. One of the Huskies looked at her. “Aye, what is in this thing.” Angel patted the side of the crate. “Something that is worth more then both our lives combined.” She said. The huskies loaded the crate into a nearby ford model T. Angel got in the front seat and drove down toward Duluth.

THE MISSING BELL

BY SILVER BALTO AND RAILWOLF

The ford T pulled into the parking lot of the Steamship Memorial Museum. Angel stopped and got out. As she did a Boxer approached her from the side. “Well how was your trip so far?” He asked. “Hectic. But its hear.” She patted the crate. She looked to the Boxer. “Is Jenna aware of its arrival?” She asked. The dog chuckled. “She watched you pull into the driveway.”

Angel with the help of the boxer lugged the crate threw the hallowed halls of the museum. They reached an office. The door opened and Jenna, Looking worse for ware stepped out. “Thank god you arrived safely.” She said. She wore a red turtleneck sweeter and blue jeans. “Me and Ginger were worried sick.” Angel laughed. “It wasn’t easy but those gooks at the bazaar had no clue of my swipe. I got your prize.” The two dogs opened the crate. Inside was a large brass bell. Inscribed in the brass were the words: EDMUND FITZGERALD.

Ginger walked out and admired the bell. “Wow. Its incredible!” She said. Angel nodded. “Personnel project of mine.” She said. Jenna laughed. “Yes stealing shipwreck artifacts from treasure thieves must really be a relaxing hobby.” Angel blushed “I Just steal them back. You know. A plate from the Titanic, a bollared from the USS Arizona, a turret from the Maine, that sort of thing.” Ginger looked at her own reflection in the brass. “No one gave you a hard fuss?” She asked. Angel frowned. “Nothing so far. But I felt as if I was being followed the whole trip here.” Jenna shook her head. “I do think it best if we secure the bell and you stay the night.” She said, “I’ll telephone Lady. Besides Balto should be here tomorrow with Brent and Tramp to open up the new exhibit on the sunken Edmund Fitzgerald.” Angel smiled. “Inutile then…wears the food. I’m starving.”

Rain poured down on the Museum. Inside the office. Jenna and Ginger slept happily in their sleeping bags. Angel tossed in her sleep though. Finally she woke up and yawned. “I shouldn’t have drunken all that soda.” She moaned. She padded out the door and down the hall to the bathroom. Jenna stirred and looked up to see Angel’s tail disappear out the door. She relaxed and closed her eyes. Ten minutes later she heard a loud clap of thunder. But it sounded like it came from within the museum. Jenna waved it off until she also heard a loud scream. She jumped up and shook ginger from her sleep. “Ginger something happened!” Ginger sat up now wide-awake. “What could it be…oh shit.” Jenna and Ginger looked into each other’s frightened eyes. “THE BELL!” they both yiped at the same time. The two ran off as quick as they could to the safe room.

Inside the safe room thousands off small safes lined the wall. Each one contained an artifact. Includes in this secret treasure trove is the Titanic’s logbook, The torpedo warhead from the Lusitania, A skull from a pirate ship, and Charlie B Barken’s pocket watch. But one safe was smashed open. Jenna looked inside fearing the worst: The Bell of the Edmund Fitzgerald had been stolen. “How the hell could this happen?” Jenna sead frightened. “Wears Angel?” She also asked looking around. She then heard Ginger gasp. Setting on a table was a simple note:

We have taken the bell and the girl. The Bell we keep. But if you ever want to see the girl again we want three artifacts. One, the whistle from the Titanic, two, a pocket watch from the USS Arizona, and three a compass from the arctic sister Maude. If we don’t receive these treasures which have been stolen from us. We will kill the girl.

And if we do…we might just kill her anyway.

Hatred

The configuration Pirates.

“Who the hell are the configuration pirates?” Ginger asked. Jenna looked at the note. “These artifacts. Their all things that Angel has brought in…except for the pocket watch. That we don’t have.” Ginger looked at the note too. “It looks like they are trying to get all the stuff she stole from them back.” Jenna crumpled the note. “Well we an’t giving them shit.” Ginger frowned. “What about Angel? In case you didn’t read we have to or else they will kill her!” Jenna looked at the clock. “Yes true. But in five hours Brent MacWolf, Balto, and the Tramp will arrive by train. They will be able to get the Bell back, and Angel too.” Ginger smiled. “The exhibit opens in two days. But I bet my Brenty can do it” Jenna smiled too. “We’ll we better be at the station to welcome them. The train they are on is the Junkyard Dog on platform five” She looked at the empty safe. “If anyone can do this those three can.” She looked at the ceiling. “I just prey they can get Angel and the Bell back in one peace.”

Five hours later…

Jenna and Ginger stood under the overhang of the station; the rain still hadn’t let up yet. Ginger looked down both the tracks.

‘’Where the hell are they,’’ she asked, ‘’you said five hours!’’

A whistle alerted both of them to a train steaming toward the station.

‘’You asked?’’ Jenna questioned sarcastically. The Junkyard Dog slowed down and stopped right beside the platform, shooting steam out from between its wheels with incredible force. Balto and Tramp jumped from the cab, while Brent climbed down from the caboose.

‘’Thanks Rail Wolf.’’ Tramp called. Rail Wolf smiled and blew his train’s whistle. Junkyard Dog then pulled away. Ginger and Jenna ran into the rain and hugged their mates

‘’Balto, something terrible has happened with Angel!’’ Jenna cried. Balto and Brent stared at each other.

‘‘What?’’ they both exclaimed. Ginger nodded.

‘’Somehow, she disappeared with a bell she recovered for us. We heard a giant crack of thunder and when we went to investigate, Angel was gone. Vanished into thin air, along with the bell.’’ She explained. Tramp walked up.

‘’Tell me Ginger, what was this bell on previously?’’ he asked.

‘’The Edmund Fitzgerald.’’ She replied. Brent looked at Tramp, who looked at Balto, who looked at Brent.

‘’Did you say Edmund Fitzgerald?!’’ the three questioned in unison. Jenna nodded her head solemnly.

‘’We need you three to help us. There’s a note the crook left behind. That’s the only clue we have.’’

Brent smiled.

‘’What you need is a detective.’’ He said.

‘’Do you know where there’s one in the area?’’ Jenna asked. Brent polished his paw on his chest.

‘’You’re talking to one.’’ He answered. Ginger was stunned.

‘’You’re a detective? You never told me that!’’ she noted. Brent’s smile remained on his face.

‘’There’s a lot you don’t know about me Ginger, but this I really just forgot about. You see, before I became a time police officer, I was a lone-wolf detective. I tried my luck being a detective in London around the 1890s; around when Sherlock Holmes was written. I had some good cases, but one stopped my career dead in its tracks. I was asked by a beautiful collie to find her lost brother. Many leads had turned up dry, but one seemed promising. Her brother liked to hang around in a pub near the Thames waterfront. I walked into a trap. I was thrown into the river with metal balls attached to my feet. The crook had gotten away. Somehow I escaped.’’

Ginger gave her boyfriend a kiss.

‘’You’re so brave.’’ She replied. Tramp groaned and remarked, ‘’save it for the bedroom. Right now, we have to save Angel, or Scamp’ll never forgive me.’’

Brent sighed and nodded. The five jumped into Brent’s Model T Charlie and drove to the museum.

The Museum, a few minutes later…

Brent pulled out a magnifying glass and searched around. Balto gave him a confused look.

‘’Brent, what’re you doing?’’

Brent put up his paw.

‘’Sheesh,’’ he hissed, ‘’I’m searching for
