You murded her, you killed my mother!"
Kade: "Kida, I'm sorry..."
Kida: " It's too late to be sorry, now! Sorry won't bring her back. Sorry won't make me forgive what you've done!!!"
Kade: " If I could explain..."
Kida: " EXPLAIN WHAT? How you've destoyed my life?
Kade: "YES! I can't explain how it happened. I was wreckless, I wasn't aware of what I was doing!"
Kida: " I think you knew, I KNOW you did! Your just a selfish, heartless monster!"
Kida ran off in tears with Lanna and Hunter at her heals.
Lanna: "Kida, WAIT!"
The three were soon out of sight. Zeeke looked at Kade fiercly.
Zeeke: "How could you do that? She was so young and helpless, and you did NOTHING to save her!"
Kade stood his ground, even thought Zeeke was bigger than him.
Kade: " You have no idea what went on that day..."
Suddenly, Zeeke heard a twig snap. He turned to see a hunter aiming his gun at
Kade. He sped off and left Kade behind. He kept going and listened for the
gunshot. Once the gun was fired, he heard a thud. He turned back to see Kade on
the ground. He though nothing of it and kept going. He sped away even faster
now, until he was back at the house.
He walked inside, panting and out of breath. Kida, Hunter, and Lanna were
lying on the old furniture in the living room.
Kida: " Where were you? What happened? Are you ok?"
Zeeke: "Hush, now. Everything's alright, I'm fine!"
Kida: " What happened to Kade?"
Zeeke:" A hunter took aim at us. I was fortunate, but he wasn't. I'm sorry, Kida."
Kida:" Don't be! He didn't love me or my mother. He deserved what he got..."
With that said, they dropped the subject. A month had passed, and Kida had
found out she was going to have pups. Hunter and Zeeke prepared the furniture to
provide Kida with a cozy, denlike nook behind the sofa. She had everything she
needed to deliver her pups. Now, a week away from the delivery, Kida was happier
than she could ever imagine!
Zeeke: "I'm so excited! I can't wait until the pups arrive!"
Kida:" Me either. I..."
Hunter and Lanna were now comming down the stairs, heading for the door.
Kida: "Where are you two going?"
Lanna:" We decided that it was best to let you two have this home. We're going to live in my old shack."
Kida: "But, Lanna..."
Hunter: "Come on, Kida! We're going to be right down the street if you need us. We want you guys to have this house to raise your pups in."
Zeeke: "That's wonderful, but you guys don't need to do all this for us!"
Lanna: (walks up to Kida) "You deserve it!"
Lanna then hugs Kida and Zeeke. They were soon out of the door and on there
way down the street.
Kida: "Well, I guess it's just the two of us..."
Zeeke: (puts his head down on hers) "Yeah..."
A week had passed and the pups were due. Zeeke was with Kida the entire time,
cleaning the pups and keeping them warm. At last, they were here. Three pups
were born that evening: Two males and one female. Kida was tired, but satisfied.
She and Zeeke were now proud and joyful parents.
Kida and Zeeke layed there, admiring the three bundles of joy. The two males
looked very much like their father, yet the female looked almost identical to her
mother. They were all so content as they lay on the old, white pillow.
Suddenly, the house was overcome with a loud roar. Following the noise was a
thick cloud of smoke. Zeeke quickly sensed this and ran outside.
Kida: "What's going on?!?!"
Zeeke was startled when he first sped out the door. The vast yard was filled with
bulldozers and wrecking balls. He soon realized the house was being demolished!
He ran, as fast as possible, inside the house. Once he reached the inside, he wasn't
sure which way was which. The house was filled with the thick, black smoke and
he could hardly breath.
Zeeke: "KIDA! Where are you?!?"
Kida: "Over here, Zeeke!!!"
Kida was coughing furiously, and Zeeke realized if he wasn't quick enough, she
may not make it. His heart pounded in his chest as he rushed over to the sound of
Kida's voice. He found her and the pups moments later. One by one, she handed
Zeeke the pups. Kida then jumped out herself, and in that instant, half of the roof
collapsed. Everything was now falling apart.
Zeeke: "KIDA,GO! GET OUT, I'LL GET THE PUPS!"
Kida:"BUT..."
Zeeke: "KIDA, I'VE LOST YOU ONCE, I'LL NEVER DO IT AGAIN!!! GO, NOW!"
Kida quickly leapt over the wreckage and out of danger. She then found herself
in the backyard. The house was crumbling before her very eyes.
Zeeke grabbed the first pup and searched for the rest. He found them, buried
under three two-by-fours, stiff and lifeless. He was shocked, but as painful as it
was, he had to leave them and get out. Not a second thought ran through his head
as the house toppled over. Kida screamed outside, hoping he was still alive. What
she saw next made her heart sink.
Zeeke's sillouette formed in the dense smoke behind the house. A fire was still
alight as he walked completely through it, holding a bundle in his mouth. He
walked in front of Kida and released the bundle by her feet.
Zeeke: "She was the only survivor..."
Kida: "Oh my God..."
Kida silently sobbed as she looked up at her brave soldier.
Kida: " Your a hero..."
She kissed him and looked down at her only pup. Kida layed beside her as Zeeke
nuzzled her. The demolision workers were gone within the next hour. After they
had left, the fire had started to die down. It was just enough to keep the three
survivors warm.
Kida: "So, have you thought of what we should name her?"
Zeeke looked around and thought about a name to fit this lucky pup. He then
noticed the fire which was ultimatly keeping her warm and alive.
Zeeke: "I know the perfect name, now! We will call her Ember, like the low flame in which is keeping her safe..."
Kida agreed and that's what they named their fortunate daughter.
A month had flown by, then Kida, Zeeke, and Ember had moved into Kida's old
cave in the forest. They chose that spot because it was there that Zeeke and Kida
had first met. Ember had grown up nicely since the day she was born. She was a
healthy wolf pup, very small and very beautiful like her mother. One day, the little
pup became curious:
Ember:"Mommy?"
Kida:"Yes, hun?"
Ember:"How did you and daddy meet?"
Kida looked over at Zeeke with a gleam in her eye. Zeeke looked back and
smiled.
Kida:" Well, within this very forest, not far from human civilazation, lived a timber wolf pack..."
