Kida: "Oh, sorry. Well, you don't have to be so rude!"
Wolf: ( jumps out ) "Well, I thought you were someone else trying to steal my food. Who are you anyway?"
Kida:" My name is Kida, and I just got here."
Wolf: " I'm Lanna, so why did you come here?"
Kida: " It's nothing, really . Anyways, I'm just glad there's other
wolves here!"
Lanna: "I am NOT a wolf. I'm part wolf, part German Shepard."
Kida: "Well, are you all alone, too? My dad's actually alive, I think, but I haven't seen him in a while. He abandoned me, I think."
Lanna: "My mother died when I was born, and my father couldn't handle it. So, he left me."
Kida: " Do you have a place to stay? I'm very tired from my travels."
Lanna: " Sure, follow me. There's an old shack where I live around the corner."
Kida: ( follows her) " So, would you like to be my friend? "
Lanna: " I'd be more than happy to be your friend, Kida. I don't have many, since everyone thinks I'm
different being part wolf. Everyone's a purebred here."
Kida: " Don't worry, I'll be your friend no matter what!"
Kida was glad to have finaly found another friend, and soon the months
passed. Winter was right
around the corner, and Kida was blossoming into a beautiful young wolf. She was
small and feminine, and
was a head-turner for sure! She had blue, saphire eyes, just waiting to take you off
your feet.
Her fur was multi-colored, just like her mother's. Lanna, on the other hand, was a
week younger, and was
beautiful as can be. Her fur was the color of most German
Shepards, black, brown, and tan. They were now eleven months old, almost full grown.
Over the months, they became very close. They had fun almost every
day. Lanna's shack
had been Kida's home, and she felt so relaxed once she let go of her past. Yet,
every night she saw many
different things in her dreams; her mother and father, her pack, and even things
she couldn't
explain. The strangest of them all was a black wolf. It had been so long, and she
had forgotten this wolf's
identity, although she knew it was an old friend of hers. But, she just didn't know
how close that friend
really was...
Her old friend, Zeeke, had grown as well in the last few months. He was
a huge wolf, very handsome
and very brave. His eyes were multi-colored: one was brown, and one blue. He still
kept his blood-stained
bandage from puppyhood, since it provided a strong memory of his parents. He
became a lone wolf, except for a friend or two. Many females were interested in
him, but he rejected everyone, despirate to reunite with the friend he had once
loved. He, like Kida, forgot the name of his friend. This made him even more
determined to find her.
He searched many places, high and low, but she was nowhere to be found. Turns
out, no one had even heard of her, not in the forest, that is. But still, he never gave
up hope. Every day, he blamed himself for letting her go...
Things were easy-going around town, that was true, because Kida and Lanna
had finaly found a much bigger place to live. It was an old, abandoned house,
which was really supposed to be demolished. But, over the pass months, plans had
changed, which was good for the two friends. And things were about to get even
better...
Kida: "A party at our house, AWESOME! What an idea, we could finnaly find the male of our dreams!"
Lanna: " Yeah, and for you that's like any dog in the world! Your perfect!"
Kida:" Well, not perfect, but anyways, I'm not even completely sure I want a boyfriend. I still wish I could find my other...."
Lanna: "Yes, we all know you want to figure out who your friend was! Just forget about him!"
Kida:"Lanna, I CAN'T, don't you think I've tried! He saved my life, that's all I can remember...Well, let's not waste time!Who should we invite?"
Dog:"I wouldn't mind comming..."
Recognizing the voice, Kida quickly backed away from the door where he stood.
It was Rex. Rex was a purebred, gray and white husky with an interest in Kida. He
would do ANYTHING to be with her, even if it killed him! As he advanced toward
Kida, she slowly backed away, closer and closer to the wall.
Rex:"Hey Ki, your looking very lovely today, if I do say so myself."
As he looked her up and down, she quickly lept out of his path.
Kida:"Look, Rex, I know you like me and all, but I..."
Rex:" LIKE YOU! I love you, Kida, your beautiful!"
Kida:" You DON'T even know me, your like every other dog in this place: You only want me for my looks!"
Rex:"Kida, you got me all wrong..."
Kida:"Look, just go..."
Rex:"Hey, what's wrong with me comming to the party? Maybe me and you could get to know each other..."
Lanna: (In a whisper)"Well, maybe you should give him a chance? He IS cute..."
Kida:"Never..."
Rex:"What did you say to me?"
Kida:"Never...I will NEVER try and get to know you! I can see right through you as it is, I know how your mind works. Besides, I'm a wolf, and your a stuck-up, selfish, PUREBRED! So...just LEAVE!"
With an angry growl and a snarl, he headed for the door.
Rex:( Muttering) "Don't worry, Kida, you'll be with me whether you like it or not..."
Lanna:" OH, KIDA! Why can't you find someone you want to be with already?"
Kida:"Sorry, Lanna, but I already have someone..."
Kida ran out of the house alone. She walked down the block and turned to the left side of town. She gazed around the corner at the edge of the forest. She slowly crept into the woods, and looked around at all of the snow atop the tree's branches.
Kida: "Wow, this place is even more beautiful than I remember!"
Over in a nearby bush were a pair of big, brown eyes. Kida jumped at the site of them.
Kida:" Who....who's there? Stop following me!"
The eyes disappeared as soon as she spoke up. She then heard Lanna's voice in the
distance.
Lanna: (panting) "Kida, why did you run away?"
Kida:"Lanna...I want to show you something..."
Lanna:"What is it?"
Kida:"My old home. I'm going back to visit it to see if I can remember anything, if any names pop up. I can remember my mother's name, Lilly, of course. My father's name was Kade, but I can't remember anyone else..."
Lanna:"Just to warn you, it may be very painful to revisit the terrible memories of your past..."
Kida:"I know, I KNOW! But, it's the only way to remember his name."
So, as planned, they set off to visit Kida's old cavesite. When they had finaly
reached the abandoned cave,
voices ran ramped through her mind.
Lanna:"Well, do you remember anything? Any names?"
Kida:"No, just voices....lots of them...no names, though."
Lanna:"Look, Kida, maybe you should just give up..."
Kida:"No, I won't. As far as I'm concerned, he's out there somewhere, looking for me."
Meanwhile, Zeeke and his best bud, Hunter, were walking alongside the
riverbank. Hunter was known for his master hunting skills. He was all brown with
white ears and paws. Him and Zeeke met as pups and stuck together for months at
a time. Zeeke was daydreaming alongside the lake, while Hunter swam in the lake:
Hunter:"Hey, Hello, ALOOOHA!!! Wake up, Romeo, snap out of it!"
Zeeke:"WHO,WHA? Oh, ok, I'm up! Hey, I had this dream about her last night...She..."
Hunter:"Pause, rewind, STOP THE TAPE! I really want to help you find this girl, but until then, keep me OUT of your fantasies!"
Zeeke:"Sorry, Hunter, I can't help myself. I lover her. Come on, let's keep searching. I won't stop till we find her."
Hunter:"Wait a sec...How do you even know she's IN the forest? What if she fled to the town? We've searched EVERYWHERE else but there. Think about it!"
Zeeke:"Yeah, that's right! We'll get there this evening if we leave now! Come on!"
Hunter:"Hey, here's a thought: What if she forgot about you?"
Zeeke:" I doubt it...come on, she could be right around the corner for all we know..."
Kida and Lanna hurried home that evening to prepare for their upcomming party.
They invited every dog in town to come. Everyone was there, asking the two for a
dance, including Rex.
Rex:"Come on, Kida. Let's
