Wolf Song

 

This is the story about Kida and Zeeke, two wolves who once met as pups

 

and were separated from one another. They were both very much determined to

 

reunite and share a relationship together. Many obsticles would stand in their way,

 

but they would have to work together to overcome them all.

 

 

 

Within the forests of Alaska, not far from human civilazation, lived a timber

 

wolf pack. This particular pack

 

 

consisted of two separate families: The first; Skyler, Raven, Akila, and young

 

Zeeke. The second; Lilly, Kade, Kinda,

 

and their newborn pup, Kida. Lilly was the alpha female, and Kade was the leader

 

of the pack: the alpha male. They all lived together peacefully, and it wasn't often

 

that they fought with each other. They all worked hard to find food, dig dens, and

 

eventually raise pups. But soon, the unthinkable happened: As the two families

 

headed back

 

home after a hunt, a mass of rocks and boulders fell upon their cave. In seconds,

 

the pack raced down from a massive rockslide, nearly getting crushed.

 

After retreating to the bottom, they discover a shocking scene: Skyler and Raven's

 

older pup, Akila, had been

 

crushed by the falling boulders; as so did Lilly and Kade's older pup, Kinda. They

 

just weren't fast enought to escape.

 

The remaining wolves stood

 

silently for a while, bowing their heads and wheeping soundlessly. Only now, they

 

had no place to

 

go, nowhere to live. Many territories have already been claimed by other wolves,

 

and there wasn't many places they could all go. So, after many days of diliberation

 

and argument, the two families had no choice but to

 

separate and move on. Skyler's familiy went on to move deep into the forest, while

 

Kade's family chose

 

to live closer to town. It was a hard year for all of them, and food was scarce.

 

Though the distance between their homes were near, their connection with

 

another were far. Since their tragety,

 

neither families had spoken to one another.

 

In time, things gradually became easier for the two families. Food was now

 

plentiful, and Spring was near.

 

 

Birds were twittering above, the flowers were blooming, and the sun was shining

 

on this radiant morning. But, in the

 

home of Lilly and Kade, things weren't quiet so peaceful...

 

 

Lilly:" Kade, please come and help watch Kida while I go out. It's time for the hunt. We haven't eaten in two days, I'm very hungry."

Kade:"I'll come, too! Let's just bring Kida along with us."

Lilly:"Kade, you know she's too young to learn hunting skills at her age. Someone has to stay home with her."

Kade: "Why, she'll be ok for a while. Come on, just you and me, out for a hunt. We'll be back in a short while."

Lilly:"Kade, we can not just leave her! She's only a pup!"

Kade:"Why not? She's safe in here, isn't she?"

Lilly: "Are you crazy? It's dangerous out there, and I would NEVER leave her alone. How

could you even think of such a thing? You know there are others out there that would kill her in an instance!"

Kade: "I don't know, Lilly, things just aren't the same anymore. Between you and me, I mean. It's seems like

I can never have any alone time with you if Kida's always holding us back!"

Lilly: "HOLDING US BACK! How could you SAY that! When we decided to have pups, we promissed to love

and protect our young ones! I just can't handle another loss. Not after the death of our son..."

 

Kade: "Lilly, don't be so foolish! She'll be fine, so let's head out before she wakes up..."

Lilly: ( growls ) "You know, I'm starting to think you don't even care! I'm taking Kida and were leaving."

 

In an instant, Kade becomes furiously inraged and runs toward Kida. Lilly,

 

without a second thought, jumped

 

between his path and blocked him from her daughter.

 

Lilly: "If you want MY daughter, you'll have to take ME down first!!!"

 

Kade then struck Lilly across the face, leaving her breathless for a moment.

 

Lilly quickly revived and the

 

two thrashed and thrashed about in the cave. Fighting till the death, Lilly sweared

 

upon herself that Kida

 

wouldn't be touched. Kade then struck Lilly a second time, and this time, Lilly

 

wasn't so fortunate. There she lay, soundlessly on the cold, stone ground.

 

 

She was bleeding from head to toe, slashes and cuts ran through her body. She

 

was dead. Kade, without a word,

 

fled the scene without a trace. Kida, who was asleep before the battle, awoke to see

 

her mother lying in a pool

 

of blood. She was small then, only about three or four weeks old , but she

 

understood what had happened.

 

 

It had all happened so quickly, and with no one else to turn to, she, too, fled the

 

scene in tears. Speeding faster and

 

faster across the grass, leaves, and brush she slams into what felt like a stone wall.

 

The thing that stood in front

 

her wasn't a wall, but a black timber wolf pup. He stood there, shocked and a little

 

ticked, for he too was running

 

through the woods until he crashed into her.

 

Kida:"Oh, sorry, listen, I'm lost, well ,I mean, actually my cave's over their

and I mea..."

Pup: "Whoa, calm down. Now what's wrong?"

Kida: "It's my...muh..my..."

Pup: "Yes?"

Kida: ( sighs )" My mother, I awoke this morning to find her de....dead, and my father was gone."

Pup: "That's horrible! Where's your pack,..er.. uh..."

Kida: "Oh, I forgot, my name's Kida. You?"

Pup:" I'm Zeeke, so where's your pack, Kida?"

Kida: "Me and my family were separated from them after a rockslide, we haven't met up since."

Zeeke: "Wow, you must be very brave. My pack lives just on the other side of those trees. Well, actually, just

me, my mom and dad, we lost our pack as well. I forgot what happened to them..."

Kida: "Well, it was nice meeting you, but I've got to find my father."

Zeeke: "Maybe I can help. What does he look like?"

Kida: "His fur is gray and white and he has dark, brown eyes."

Zeeke: "Your kidding! I was just hiding behind a tree when he ran past. Sorry to say, but , he was

COVERED in blood with many bruses and slashes. I think HE's the one responsible for all of this!"

Kida: "Oh no! He...he KILLED my mother!!!"

 

 

In a shreak of terror, Kida threw herself on the ground and started to

 

cry aloud. Zeeke stared

 

across the distance and peered through Kida's cave entrace. There, he saw Lilly's

 

body, still lifeless and

 

 

untouched. It was such a cruel irony that nature was blissfully unaware of all the

 

horrific things going

 

on. The sun was still at it's best, the birds still twittering, and wolves howling. This

 

snapped Zeeke back to life,

 

and in a moment, he responded.

 

Zeeke:" Kida, hurry, come with me!"

 

Kida:" But, your parents, won't they..."

 

Zeeke: "Don't worry, they'll understand!"

 

 

 

The two rushed over to the cave where Zeeke had lived. Sure enough, the

 

howls were from his mother.

 

She had called him in for lunch, but she soon got a suprise of her very own. After

 

Kida tells Zeeke's mom about

 

her situation, she finaly understands what she must do...

 

 

Mom: "You poor, poor dear! Well, we can't just leave you all alone now can we. If

 

you like, you are very welcome

to stay with us."

 

 

Kida: "That sounds wonderful, thank you so much!"

Mom:" By the way, you can call me Raven."

Kida: "Oh, ok."

 

 

Raven was a wonderful soul, a heart of gold. She had an orange and white

 

coat, and was

 

 

as beautiful as ever! Her husband, Skyler, was all black, like his son. They were

 

both very young

 

in age, and were both joyful as can be to accompany their new guest.

 

 

Skyler: ( walks in the cave ) "I'm back.... uh, who's this? "

Zeeke: "Oh, hey dad...this is my friend. She's going to be living with
