Balto nearly jumped out of his fur at ths. Spinning roun, he as confronted by an opposing looking black wolf. He regained his composure.
''Who are you?'' he demanded. The wolf smiled faintly.
''My name is Sirius, son of Thavik and Licea. And you are Balto, correct?''
Balto was taken aback by this ''How do you know my name?''
''I will answer all your questions later, but right now time is short. I must have your full cooperation'' Sirius replied in a firm, even tone.
Balto paused briefly before answering ''My full cooperation for what?''
''It is of the utmost urgency that you accompany me to the rest of my clan. I request that you bring the rest of your family with you. The same goes for your friend''
Balto glanced up as Chester appeared, a puzzled look on his face ''How did he know I was there? I didn't make a sound!''
Sirius smiled ''My senses are more adapted to yours my friend, I could sense you from a long way off''
Balto couldn't help but force a smile at Chester's bewilderment ''Chester it's okay, he's a friend. I guess''
With obvious reluctance, Chester padded up to Balto's side and faced Sirius.
''So what's all this about? I heard what you said, and I want to know what's going on'' Chester said.
''All in good time. For now I must urge you to be quick in assembling your respected families and bringing them here. I shall be waiting to lead you all to the cave''
Balto realized that he wasn't going to get any more answers out of Sirius yet ''Okay. We'll be as quick as we can''
''Balto what are you…?'' Chester began, but was cut off by Balto.
''Chester you heard him. He'll explain everything later. Correct?'' he looked at Sirius, who nodded.
''Most correct. Now hurry!''
Balto took off back towards Nome, a reluctant Chester close behind. Sirius sighed.
''Hurry my friends. Your own lives depend on it''

In the boiler room, Jenna looked up as the door opened and Lance and Saba padded inside.
''Saba, Lance! What are you doing here?'' he asked. Saba looked down at the three sleeping pups snuggled up to Stacy.
''Oh, aren't they adorable?'' she said in a motherly tone. Lance turned to Jenna.
''There's been a.... situation, around town. They've found three.... bodies’’
''Bodies?'' Jenna stared in shock.
Just then, Dingo padded inside accompanied by Kodi and Dusty.
''Mum, have you seen Dad around?'' Dingo asked, concern evident on his face.
Jenna shook her head ''No, only this morning. I've been here all day, why?''
Dingo sighed ''It's...it's nothing. Nothing to get worked up about''
Kodi glared at his brother ''What do you mean nothing to get worked up about? What if something’s happened to him like last time?''
''That was different!'' Dingo replied firmly.
Kodi paused as he clasped his eyes for the first time on Stacy's pups ''Oh, wow! Sorry Stacy, I didn't know'' he smiled in embarrassment.
''It's alright Kodi'' Stacy smiled, nuzzling Trixxy's sleeping form.
Jenna looked at Lance questionably ''Lance, tell me what's happened. What has this got to do with Balto?''
''Yes?'' a voice called from the doorway.
Jenna smiled in relief as Balto padded inside accompanied by Chester.
''Dad!'' Kodi grinned at his father.
Balto smiled ''Hi Kodi. Listen guys, what I'm about to tell you may seem strange. But just bear with me''

Sirius continued to pace around the snow. He had been pacing so much since Balto and Chester had left, that he was burning through to the dirt below.
''Where are they?'' he muttered. He perked his ear up as he heard movement approaching, and seconds later Balto appeared through the clearing accompanied by Chester, Stacy, Jenna, Lance, Saba and Dingo. Chester and Balto each had a pup on their backs, and Balto also had one in his mouth. Sirius sighed in relief.
''Better late than never I suppose'' the wolf smiled.
''Okay pal, we're all here. Now tell us what the hell's going on!'' Chester said, his eyes as hard as flint.
''Once we reach the cave. Is everyone here?'' Sirius asked, scanning round the group.
''All of us except Kodi and Dusty. They had to stay for a mail run practice'' Jenna replied.
Dingo perked up “If this thing is so important, what about them?”
“If necessary, I will send some of my clan to bring them to the cave. Is that satisfactory?”
Everyone nodded, all be it dubiously.
Sirius nodded ''Very well then. If you would all care to follow me''
As the group moved on behind Sirius, Chester grunted ''I never thought I'd end up doing this! Following a wolf to God knows where!''

Over an hour later, the group made their way up a steep incline leading up to a mountainous valley.
''This...is.... exhausting!'' Dingo panted. His paws felt ready to drop off from all the walking, but he counted himself lucky that he didn't have the added weight his father had with the two pups.
''Not long now my friends! Just over this incline!'' Sirius called out ahead. Chester grunted.
''He said that ten minutes ago!''
Balto just rolled his eyes, unable to talk for fear of dropping the pup in his mouth.
Eventually, the incline leveled off, revealing a large cave cut into the mountainside. There was another wolf outside the entrance, and as the group moved closer, Jenna knew exactly who it was.
''Aleu!''

Balto felt as if his heart would explode with joy at seeing his daughter in front of him. All he could do was smile as Jenna rushed over towards Aleu.
''Aleu!'' Jenna said tenderly, smothering her with kisses. ''I never thought I'd see you again!''
Aleu laughed, clearly embarrassed ''Mom! Your embarrassing me!'' she allowed Jenna to nuzzle her one last time before she backed off.
''You've grown so big, I.... I just can't believe it!'' Jenna shook her head.
Aleu smiled "Is Papa here?'' she asked.
In answer to her question, she felt a warm tongue lick her cheek before she was smothered in a hug.
''Papa!'' she breathed in his scent and licked his muzzle as Balto continued to embrace her.
Watching all this going on, Chester cast a puzzled look in Dingo's direction. ''What the heck? Since when did Balto associate himself with wolves?''
Dingo laughed ''Oh, that isn't just any wolf though!''
''It isn't?''
Saba shook her head ''Nope. She's our sister!''
Before Chester could answer, Dingo and Saba bolted towards the cave entrance. A second later, Dingo knocked into Aleu and the two were sent tumbling in the snow. Chester shook his head and turned to Lance.
''This is just nuts!'' he exclaimed. Lance nodded in agreement.
Stacy laughed ''Come on then! We might as well introduce ourselves!'' she said as she padded towards the cave. Chester shook his head before following with Lance in tow.
''Dingo!'' Aleu exclaimed as Dingo climbed off her. His face cracked into a grin as she stood up and shook the snow off her fur. Dingo just stood panting, his grin unwavering.
''Got you off guard there sis!'' he smirked as she swatted him playfully on the muzzle.
''You just caught me off guard! I'll get you next time!'' Aleu replied hotly, before licking him on the cheek. ''It's nice to see you again though''
''Same here'' Dingo replied.
Aleu looked round at her family stood round her ''I'm so glad to see you all again'' she replied, resulting in warm smiles from the others.
''Well, it looks like you all seem to have gotten reacquainted with each other!'' Sirius said sarcastically, padding up to the group.
Aleu snorted ''Sirius, why spoil the moment?'' she smiled. Sirius returned the gesture.
''Sorry. But might I suggest we take it inside? I think some of us could do with a rest'' he gestured to Chester and Stacy, each of them with a pup on their backs. Aleu noticed for the first time the pup on Balto's back.
''Who does this precious little thing belong to?'' she cooed at the little pup, gently nuzzling it.
''Aleu, I'd like you to meet my friend Chester, his mate Stacy, and Lance'' he gestured to each canine in turn.
''It's nice to meet all of you. Have you known my mother and father long?'' Aleu asked. Chester and Lance exchanged looks.
''Long enough'' Lance replied. Chester nodded.
Aleu smiled ''I guess all of this is a bit of a shock to you all?'' she chuckled at the bemused expressions on Lance and Chester's faces.
''Yeah, about that...'' Chester began, to be cut off by Sirius.
''Aleu, shouldn't we show our guests where they can sleep?'' he gestured to the cave.
“Sleep? How long are we going to be here anyway?'' Chester asked to no one in particular.
Aleu nodded, ignoring Chester's comment ''Okay. Come on in, I'll show you around''
With Aleu and Sirius in front, the group ventured into the cave.

Balto couldn't take in the sheer enormity of the cave. The inside was lit up from a hundred different specially placed crystals placed around the floor, creating a bright spectrum of light that lit up the whole cave. He looked up at the rock wall to see dozens of rock shelves where several wolves peered down at them.
''Blimey!'' Lance exclaimed, his voice echoing off the walls.
Aleu chuckled ''It's a little awe-inspiring at first, but you'll get used to it in time''
''Not for too long I hope'' Chester muttered. Stacy gave him a look.
