to pad inside the nursery.

Stacy woke up to the sound of a scream.
Staggering to her feet, Stacy padded slowly towards the nursery entrance.
"Mandy? Are you all right?"
She stopped dead in her tracks as something padded in front of her. She felt a wave of nausea sweep through her body.
"No! Not you!" she shrieked.
Grant smirked at her "Stacy. Now where did we leave off, hmm?"
Stacy shivered and stepped back. But she was unprepared as Grant lunged at her with terrifying speed and belted her viciously round the head. She crumpled to the floor unconscious, as he stood over her.
"No bitch ever gets away from Red Grant! I may not be much to look at these days, but I can still make it worth your while, heh!"
Grant raked his claws gently down Stacy's back, leaving long bloody imprints as the crimson liquid continued to trickle down his legs. He felt lightheaded, as he began to lower himself on top of her.
Suddenly, a low whimpering caught his attention. Looking down, he was surprised to see a little black pup pawing at his leg.
"Well...well...well! What do we have here, aye?" Grant sniggered as he got to his feet. The pup whimpered and curled up in fright. Grant smiled.
"Hey, it's okay little guy. See?" he proceeded to cover the right side of his face with his paw. "See? I'm a normal guy!"
The black pup, Vance, began to playfully chew on Grant's leg. Grant pulled his leg away, but the pup began to play with his tail instead.
"Feisty little guy ain't ya?" he chuckled as the pup bit a little too hard on his tail. He smirked evilly as a plan came to his head.
"Hey pally, you like to play? I can play too!" he chuckled. The pup yipped as Grant nuzzled him, before he clamped his teeth round the pups ear. Vance whimpered as a thin stream of blood trickled from the wound.
Grant smirked "Nice to meet you pally! I'm sure I'll be seeing you again real soon!"
Grant lifted the pup carefully in his jaws before placing him in-between his siblings. The pup promptly fell asleep.
"Think of it as repayment Chester" Grant laughed as he padded out of the nursery, Stacy still unconscious on the floor and little Vance fast asleep.

Dingo and Saba shot over the hill overlooking the cave, both of them panting for breath.
"Oh no! The battle's started already!" Saba said. Dingo nodded grimly.
"Come on! Maybe we're still in time!"
Together, they bolted for the cave, dodging fighting wolves on the way. They made it through as Balto took down his opponent.
"Saba! Dingo! Thank God you're alright!" Balto smiled at his two children. Saba nuzzled him.
"Oh Papa! I thought I'd never see you again!"
"It's okay Saba. Duck!" Balto shouted, as a Zanik wolf lunged at them. Saba watched as both her father and Dingo dispatched the wolf.
"Come on Dad! We have to check on Aleu!" Dingo said. Balto nodded.
"Okay. Stick close!" he said, as they made their way into the cave.

Chris looked up dejected as Aleu continued to pace round him.
"I'm not even going to ask for an excuse Chris. But what I want to know is how you could bare to use my sister is your sordid plot?" Aleu snarled. Chris hung his head.
"I was following orders. I didn't want to do it" he sighed. Aleu snorted.
"Oh yeah! I've heard that excuse before!"
Chris looked up "No, I really mean it. I didn't want to hurt Saba, I...I love her. I realize that now. But my duty to the Zanik outweighed that. At least...it did"
"Well, you can tell that to Saba. If she's still alive!" Aleu snarled. Chris looked down at the floor.
Just then, Balto padded into the chamber accompanied by Saba and Dingo. Aleu smiled in relief.
"Dingo! Saba! You're alive!" she said elated as Dingo nuzzled her.
"Hey, you didn't think we'd leave you to fight this thing alone did you sis?" Dingo chuckled.
Saba's features hardened as she saw Chris. She moved up to him, and slapped him round the face. Chris looked at her with regret.
"I deserve that" he sighed.
"You bet you did!" Saba growled.
Aleu looked uncertainly at Saba "Do you want us to leave you for a moment Saba?" she asked.
Saba nodded slowly "If you don't mind"
Aleu nodded "Okay, but we'll be outside. Just shout if you need us"
Aleu and Balto padded out of the chamber, a reluctant Dingo close by.
Saba glared at Chris "How could you?"
Chris couldn't keep her gaze "Saba I...I cannot apologize enough for what I did"
Saba huffed "Too right you can't!"
Chris nodded "I deserve your anger Saba. What I did was unforgivable, and I don't deserve your forgiveness"
"And you won't get it either!" Saba replied, tears coming to her eyes. Chris looked away.
"Chris, I really like you. More than that, I love you. And yet all the time you were using me to get to Aleu. Have you no idea what that is doing to me inside? How hurt I am? You left me to die in that cave, and what's worse is that you were going to stay and watch!" Saba cried, tears trickling down her face and onto the floor.
Chris felt a tear come to his eye "Saba...I loved...love you too. I realize that now. I just hope that...that you believe me at least"
Saba felt her throat choke up as tears continued to pour down her face "I wish I could Chris. I really wish I could" she said.
"Well...well...well! Isn't this touching?" a dark voice said. Saba span round, as Grant appeared from a hidden alcove behind a wall.
Saba gulped. Grant was covered in blood, most of it sticking to his white fur and congealing round his claws. His teeth glistened brightly.
"Chris, you disappoint me. I expected better from you. I'm very, very disappointed in you" Grant said, and Saba noticed for the first time the white froth bubbling round his lips.
Grant inhaled "Still, I guess this is a job for the professionals, huh?"
Saba screamed as he lunged at her.

Chester darted through the cave, dodging aimed attacks and snarling wolves, only stopping to battle through those that got in his way. Lance had taken another direction to him, and now he was on his own.
He came to a screeching halt as two wolves pounced in front of him. One of them, a red wolf, glared at Chester.
"Whistler, take care of him!" the wolf growled before taking off towards the exit, and the main fighting.
Whistler growled at Chester.
"Okay buddy. You want to fight? Bring it!" Chester snarled.
Whistler leapt at him, and Chester tensed himself up.

Kodi charged into the next chamber, but in his state of mind they all looked exactly alike.
Panting for breath, he pressed himself against a wall as two wolves grappled outside.
He hoped Dusty was okay. He had left her and Ralph in another chamber away from the fighting, whilst he had joined Lance and Chester in the attack. But somehow he had gotten separated from them, and now he was running for his life.
He winced as a stab of pain coursed up his leg. His injuries from the cold hadn't healed properly, and they were hampering him.
He froze suddenly as he heard a familiar voice.
"Husky! This time it's just you and me!" Zao growled.
Without thinking, Kodi jumped. He met the silver wolf in mid air and they both crashed to the floor. The impact knocked the wind out of Kodi and gave Zao the opportunity to pin him down.
"It ends here house dog!" the wolf growled.
Kodi shut his eyes.

Saba felt the breath catch in her throat as Chris threw himself in front of her, and tackled Grant. The rabid snarled at Chris.
"Pally, you are so dead!"
Chris staggered back as Grant threw him off, and slashed at his exposed chest with his claws. Chris yelped as Grant raked his razor claws down his belly, drawing blood. Chris reacted and smacked Grant around the muzzle, knocking out a few teeth.
"How about we...take this outside!" Grant growled, blood seeping from his mouth. He kicked out with his back legs and darted through the alcove he had come from. Chris turned to Saba.
"Stay here!" he yelled, before running after Grant.
Saba panted for breath as Balto, Aleu and Dingo bolted into the chamber.
"Saba, where... !?" Aleu started. Saba pointed at the alcove. Aleu charged through it.
Chris found himself outside the cave, overlooking a two hundred foot drop to the floor below. He knew Grant's strategy. He had gravity on his side now.
Chris yelped as three blows in quick succession knocked him to the floor.
"Quite a view, aye Chris?" Grant laughed.
Chris staggered to his feet as Grant advanced on him.

Chester wasn't fairing well against Whistler.
The mute wolf aimed a powerful paw at Chester's face, and the husky was sent sprawling along the floor from the impact. Whistler jumped onto Chester's back, and savagely bit down.
Chester yelped in pain, before delivering a kick that sent Whistler head first into the wall. Chester shakily got to his feet.
