Balto.
Balto smiled "Your relationship is more than I first thought isn't it?"
Aleu blushed, and Sirius nodded "We met each other before we came back over the ice flows. I guess you could say it was love at first sight" Sirius smiled. Balto nodded.
"So, I guess you’re...family then?" Balto smiled. Sirius returned the gesture.
"Sorry Papa. I should have told you before, but with everything that was happening I..."
"It's okay Aleu. I'm glad you found someone. It's just a bit surprising that's all"
Sirius chuckled "Well, I guess you know now...father in law"
Balto smiled "Indeed I do...son in law"
"So Papa, did you get Chester to agree?" Aleu asked. Balto nodded.
"Yep. He was...more than happy to accept!" he chuckled.
Sirius smiled "Excellent! Now we can start the training. I've got a good number of volunteers, and so we can start tomorrow if that's convenient?"
Balto nodded "I'll go tell him. I'll see you two later"
With a last smile, Balto turned and left the chamber. Sirius wiped his forehead.
"Wow, that was nerve wracking!" he chuckled. Aleu nuzzled him.
"Now your officially a member of the family" she smiled.
"I'm glad. Because I love you so much Aleu" Sirius said, nuzzling her neck.
"And I love you Sirius" Aleu replied.

Kodi was roused from his sleep by the opening of the kitchen, door and the tense lowered-voice conversation going on between Dusty's and the doctor
"How bad is she doctor?" Dusty's owner asked in a low murmur, worry etched into his face.
"Well, she's in a pretty bad way I'm afraid to say. She's got multiple injuries, so I'm guessing it was more than one dog that attacked her. Could be that we've got a wolf problem on our hands, the extent of her injuries are. My suggestion is a few weeks rest, and absolutely no running!"
Dusty's owner nodded, and led the doctor towards the door. As soon as they were gone, Kodi got up and padded towards the kitchen, careful not to wake up Kirby and Ralph who were asleep on the floor. Kodi had told them everything that had happened, and they had decided to stay to keep him company. They hadn't done an exceptional job.
Kodi padded inside the kitchen, and looked at Dusty. She was lying on a large cushion set out on the floor, a blanket pulled over her, but he could see the multitude of bandages and stitches covering her body. She whined softly in her sleep and Kodi involuntarily licked her cheek. Her eyes flickered open.
"Kodi?" she whispered.
"Yeah, it's me Dusty. How are you feeling?" he asked. Dusty snorted.
"Like I got hit by a truck" she chuckled softly. Kodi smiled. At least she hadn't lost her sense of humor.
Her eyes began to flicker, and soon she had drifted back to sleep. Kodi lay down and snuggled up next to her. Just then, her owner padded back into the kitchen and noticed him lay next to her.
"Hey Kodi. Nice of you to keep ol' Dusty company. You and her must be really close, huh?"
Kodi woofed in reply. The man walked over and pat him on the head.
"Good boy" he said, before slipping out and quietly shutting the door behind him.
Kodi looked down at Dusty's sleeping form, and vowed a promise to her in his head.
"I'll find those guys who hurt you Dusty. And when I do, I'll make them pay"
With this thought in mind, Kodi lay down and drifted off to sleep.

Dingo walked out of the cave. He needed to do some more exploring. More than anything, he wanted to find Tanner again. He had a few more questions for the old wolf.
Dingo had looked for Tanner where they had last spoken, but the old wolf wasn't there. So instead, he decided to do some exploring outside the cave.
He had only gone a little ways out, when he picked up a scent. In fact, he picked up several scents. Intrigued, he followed them, and found himself in a small clearing surrounded by foliage.
Dingo stopped. Something didn't feel right. He scanned round, and just out fo the corner of his eye he spotted a wolf like shape. He padded closer.
"Hey? You okay?" he asked. The shape stirred, but didn't turn round. Dingo tried again.
"Hey, I'm talking to you. Who's there?" he asked. He got the feeling again that something wasn't right. Again, the shape didn't budge. Dingo began to get annoyed.
"Hey buddy, I'm trying to talk to you here. What do I look like to you?"
The shape turned, and Dingo could make out a red wolf with a savage expression on his face.
"A sitting duck!"
Before Dingo could react, two wolves pounced on him from behind. He collapsed to the ground just as the red wolf padded up to him. With a smirk, the wolf delivered a heavy blow to the side of Dingo's head, splitting his vision into comforting darkness.
Heller looked down at Dingo's unconscious form, and looked up at Zao and Whistler who still had him pinned down.
"Take him to the cave. The boss is just dying to meet him" he laughed.
-------------------------------------------------------
When Dingo woke, he had a splitting headache.
He was laid out in a dark room, and as his eyes became adjusted to the darkness, he could make out several dried stains on the stone floor. It looked to him like blood.
"It's about time you woke up pally!" a dark voice cut through the darkness. Dingo froze, and looked up in the direction the voice had come from.
Through the darkness, a wolf shaped figure leered at him. Dingo could make out the left side of his face, and knew immediately who it was.
"Grant!"
-------------------------------------------------------
Dingo stared wide-eyed at the figure before him. In the semi-darkness only half of Grants face could be made out, but it was obviously him. But, Dingo thought, there was something different about him this time. Through the shadows, Grant looked emaciated, his fur matted and clinging to his body in clumps. Also, his claws looked viciously sharp, and Dingo could make out long rake marks running across the arms of the throne the white dog was sat upon.
But what caught Dingo's attention the mot was the right side of Grants face obscured in shadow. All he could make out was his eye, which glistened a bright red. It made Dingo shiver.
"It's about time you woke up Dingo! Heller must have hit you pretty good, cos you've been out for a whole day!" Grant sniggered.
Dingo surveyed around him. He was in a rock alcove, most of it obscured by shadows. As his eyesight got used to the darkness, his turned his attention back to Grant.
"Did you really think I was gone Dingo? Did you really think I would just up tail and out of here? Dear me, you obviously don't know me well enough pally!" Grant sniggered, his teeth glistening.
"So, your the leader of the rival pack?" Dingo growled, hoping his fear wasn't obvious.
Grant giggled "Guilty as charged. I've moved up in the world Dingo, and soon I'll be leader of all the wolves in Alaska!"
"How did you become leader anyway Grant? Your not even a wolf!" Dingo snarled.
"Ah, now that's quite a story Dingo! And it involves a little thing called...luck" Grant replied, shifting in the darkness. Dingo still couldn't make out half his face.
"You see Dingo, after our little stint at the vets, it was obvious to me that the whole plan we had was going to fall apart. Carver was intelligent, but he'd made too many mistakes. Therefore, instead of returning to the factory, I left. And it's a good job I did, cos otherwise I'd of ended up like the rest of them. Dead"
Dingo shivered again. Grants voice had taken on a darker tone, and it scared him. He scanned round his surroundings, but apart from the entrance behind him which was guarded by the red wolf who had captured him, there was no other way out.
"In my life Dingo, I've always thought of myself first and others second", Grant continued. "If it wasn't for Carver, I'd of still been prowling round Anchorage, having the time of my life. Before 'The Pack', I was known as 'The Nightstalker', and I had that town under my very paw! But then I met Carver, and everything changed. I changed. But I always knew that should anything go wrong, I would fend for myself and get the hell out! And that's what I did"
Dingo scoffed "You took off like a coward, that's what your saying Grant!"
Grant snarled, the noise reverberating off the rock walls "I am not a coward! And I would suggest, that given under the circumstances, you hold your tongue before I cut it out personally!" Grant's face twisted into a look of pure rage.
Dingo flinched, and held down another shiver of terror. Grant raked a paw over the throne arm, carving his claws deep into the rock.
"Your just like your Dad, Dingo. Stubborn! If he had gone along with our plan, we would have been fine. But no! He fought us! And we failed. No...they failed. I was the only one smart enough to get out of there before it was my neck on the line!" Grant snarled.
Dingo gulped "How did..." he stuttered, but his voice failed him.
"How did I become leader of the Zaniks? A lot of luck that's how! After I got out of Nome, I attempted to get back to Anchorage. But, I got caught in a blizzard and lost my way. Fortunately, I was found by a scout party and brought back to their cave. After I
