saw that her eyes were blue, and sparkled in the moonlight. “For what?” “Asking Aniu to send me dreams of Blue Star. It really helped me to see him again.” “I also noticed that you have blue eyes too.” “Yah, well, that was probably what drew us together,” said Jasmine with a slight blush.

Aleu awoke the next morning with the sunshine on her face, and someone else nudging her. She opened one eye to see Lightning. “Good morning. How are you feeling,” she asked. “Better than yesterday, my paws aren’t as sore. What is this place,” he asked. She looked around at the land that they arrived on. A few things looked familiar but she wasn’t sure. This could be my native land, but I can’t be certain.
Raccoon walked around this foreign land. Not sure where he was. “Halt! Who goes there!” demanded a voice. Raccoon turned to look at the speaker. He was a black and white malamute, with steely cold blue eyes. “I am Raccoon. I am not native to this land. Where am I?” “You are on the shores of Alaska. I am an exile of the town Nome. What do you want here!” he growled. “I followed a wolf, named Aleu here. She crossed the Great Water, and I am determined to make her my mate,” replied Raccoon truthfully. This seemed to catch the malamute’s attention. “I too had a mate in mind. But now she is taken. But I too am determined to make her mine.” Raccoon looked at him. “What is your name,” he asked. “Steele.”
Aleu and the pack wandered around the land until they reached a chasm. It was very deep, and a fallen tree lay across it. It looked sturdy enough to let everyone across. But something was on top of it. Almost in the middle, she could make out a fox, in a trap. She trotted over and carefully walked over the log. “Stay there! I have to check something out,” she called back.
As she neared the fox she asked, “What land are we on?” “You are in the forest of Alaska. That’s where you are, I’ve never met a wolf that didn’t know where he or she was,” replied the fox. “Er… we’re not from here. We were following the caribou. And did you say Alaska?” “I did. And I see. I see you are a leader of a huge pack.” “Oh I am not the leader of that huge pack, I am only leader of half of it. Do you know where the town Nome is?” “I do. But I am stuck in this trap, in exchange for my information, you will have to get me out of this trap,” replied the fox. Fox, the cunning trickster, just like from my dream. Everything happened, is Aniu leading me home?
Aleu sighed. “Alright, but no tricks! You hear me,” she said. The fox only rolled his eyes as if he knew that was coming. “Alright, alright. Look I’ve been here for who knows how long and my butt is getting sore just sitting here. Would you please just try and break the rope?” the foxed asked impatiently.
Aleu looked at the rope and took part of it in her mouth. She started tugging at it, and finally… SNAP!!! “There, your free, now which way to Nome?” “Here I’ll give you a little nudge!” And with that, the fox pushed Aleu down and almost knocked her off. She would have fallen off if it weren’t for Merlin, who leaped onto the log and grabbed the scruff of her neck. “Thanks Merlin,” she said and kissed him. “Wait until I get my paws on that dirty, rotten, no go fox! He almost made me loose you!” “Don’t bother, in fact, I think he helped me,” said Aleu with a hint of excitement in her voice. “What are you talking about Aleu? Did that fox hit you on the side of the head?” “No just trust me. He did help me. I am on my way home, to my family, my mother and father and siblings I mean,” she said excitedly. “Now Aleu, I’m serious. Do you have a head injury?” Now this made Aleu serious. “Merlin! I’m fine! I am going back to see my mom and dad! Look!” she pointed and there, up ahead, was a town. Nome, Alaska. Merlin gasped.

It took only 5 minutes to get everyone across the log. “Crescent, Lightning, Sunset! Come here!” All three pups looked at their mother and father in confusion. “Would you like to meet your grand father and grand mother?” “YAH!” they yelped in unity. “Gemini, would you like to meet my parents?” “Sure. I mean, this is foreign territory. I better get to know our neighbors,” he replied with a grin.
Aleu bounded for the hill and gave a great big howl
In Nome town, Balto heard the howl of a wolf, a howl that he knew very well. No it’s just your imagination. Just like always. You just miss her so much, you are still having trouble letting Aleu go, your baby. He kept thinking this until he heard the howl again. This time, he realized that it wasn’t his imagination. It was real. He turned and saw Aleu sitting on the hill! He ran to go get Jenna and the other siblings. He was so happy!
It didn’t take long until Aleu saw her parents, and her siblings bounding toward her. But she stayed where she was. Balto was the first one to meet her. He hugged her so tight that they both could barely breath! “ALEU! YOUR HOME! I CANT BELIEVE IT!” he cried. “Believe it dad. And I have good news for everyone. Mom… dad… you grand parents! Meet your grandchildren!” And with that, all three pups jumped on Balto and Jenna.
“Hey mama! What should we call them? Nana? Papa? What?” asked all three pups at the same time. Aleu looked at her parents. Jenna thought and said. “I’ll be called Grandma. Balto?” Balto laughed and said. “Pups, call me Papa.” And with that they all jumped on their grand parents again and started yelping. “And these are your Aunts and Uncles too,” Aleu acknowledged to her brothers and sisters. The pups went over to meet them too.
“Mom, dad, this is my mate, Merlin.” Merlin sat down next to Aleu and greeted her parents. “Pleased to meet you Merlin. Aleu, you have chosen a fine suitor,” said Jenna. “I don’t know Jenna, he looks kind of funny to me,” joked Balto. “Dad, would you please show Gemini the forest? He’s new here, please,” asked Aleu? Balto nodded and went to meet Gemini.
Three hours later, Aleu went back to her pack and explained that they were back to their native lands. They were able to go into the town, as long as they didn’t steal from the butcher, or steal anything from any human really. Everyone agreed. Aleu found a cave just as big as their other one. She settled in with her pups and mate, and drifted off to a peaceful nights sleep.
“Aleu… Aleu… Welcome home my child,” said a warm voice. Aleu saw a white wolf, as white as ivory. She knew this wolf very well. “Thank you,” said Aleu. She and Aniu sang the song of happiness. Aleu was home, and she hoped that she would never have to leave again.

Aleu was home, and she hoped that she would never have to leave again. She also noticed that Quiet Streak, Night Shade, and Sun Eyes were there. “Our task is complete,” they told Aniu. Aniu nodded and said, “These three wolves aren’t mortal Aleu, they were sent to guide you. They’re guardian wolf spirits. I hope they helped you well,” she said. And with that all four wolves sang in a chorus as the mists carried their spirits away.
Aleu awoke slightly and looked at the stars. Seeing the clouds form as the four wolves she had just seen in her dream. She turned to find that Quiet Streak, Sun Eyes, and Night Shade were indeed gone, they left with Aniu. They too, had returned home.
