yawned.

‘Kodi, Lycan’s attacked him again.’ Jenna said, worriedly.

‘What?’ Balto looked up, ‘Where’s Kodi?’

‘At the vets. I haven’t seen him next but Kirby and Ralph both said it looked quite bad. And apparently Dusty’s in tears.’

‘That cant be good.’ Balto muttered. ‘Come on, we better see how he is.’

Jenna nodded and followed Balto.

‘Kodi!’ Jenna rushed in. Dusty took a few steps back to let Jenna and Balto see Kodi.

‘I’m fine mum.’ Kodi said.

‘When I get my paws on Lycan I’ll’-

‘You wont do anything.’ Jenna interrupted Balto. ‘I don’t want you to get hurt.’

‘But’-

‘No buts.’ Jenna said seriously but she couldn’t resist smiling. Balto opened his mouth to say something but obviously thought better of it and closed it again. Kodi laughed. Jenna often had had to say ‘No buts.’ To Kodi and his siblings when they were pups and Kodi found it funny to hear Jenna tell Balto ‘No buts.’

Dusty went into the vets to visit the Kodi the next day. She screamed when she saw Kodi, struggling to breathe.

‘Kodi no! Oh my god, hold on Kodi, I’ll get help.’ Dusty bent down and gently nuzzled Kodi. Kodi’s eyes closed and Dusty ran to get the vet.
