Shadow’s power

Shadow was a Flat-coated retriever. She was pure black with a shiny blue eyes and a lightning streak on her chest. But the lightning streak was not always there. This is the story of how she got it.

Shadow stood on the cliff watching a wolf drawing nearer and nearer. It was pure white and had the prettiest green eyes ever known to dogs. She looked straight into Shadow’s eyes and started to mumble something in a different language. Shadow stood still as if not to call attention to herself. Finally the wolf looked up and whispered.

“ someone is waiting for you at Nome.” with that she reached her paw over and touched Shadow’s chest. She blacked out.

“Shadow?” A quiet voice spoke in the darkness. Shadow opened her eye’s

“Lanai?” Shadow recognized her older sister.

“Look on your chest!” giggled Quire her younger brother. So of course Shadow shoot her eyes down to her chest

“Blazing fireballs!” she screamed. Where the once black fur was now lay a white lightning streak, but the strangest thing was that it was glowing blue! Then the words that the white wolf spoke came back to her.

“ Guy’s I have to go.” Shadow announced

“What!” screamed Lanai and Quire screamed

“to Nome from Anchorage!” sang Shadow then before her siblings could stop her she tore out the door.

The white wolf smiled

“she will do us good.” she spoke looking at a black wolf sitting next to her.

“Yes good.” he replied watching Shadow run into the forest.
