Aleu’s New Life (Part One)
By: Wolf Cuz Luna
Ch: 1
“Aroooooooo!” Aleu howled, knowing this was going to be the last time she would see her father, mother, brothers and sisters. She gazed at the stars. I know I will keep all my family within my heart, they will never be forgotten, she promised herself.
As the ice sheet floated away, Aleu wondered what lay ahead of her. She was now the leader of a wolf pack. She finally found the place where she belonged. She knew it would be a difficult journey, but she felt happy. She was alpha, and she was proud. “Miss. Aleu, we are approaching shore,” informed one of the pack members. Aleu nodded and went back to gazing at the stars. I wonder how this ever came to be, she thought.
As the ice sheet approached the shore Aleu gazed at the stars, many filled the sky. As she was gazing at these beautiful specs of light, the ice sheet came to shore. “ Miss. Aleu… were here,” the same pack member informed her. This brought her back from her thoughts. “Oh, thank you,” she replied. But as she stood, instead of the pack jumping off two at a time, the pack parted in the middle allowing her to pass through first.
When they were all safely off the ice sheet, they were greeted by another wolf pack. A brownish gray wolf stepped forward. This must be the pack’s leader, she thought. “Welcome,” he greeted with his deep, pleasant voice, “Where have you come from?” “We have come across the great water,” replied Aleu. “ I am grateful to Aniu that you had a safe journey.” With that the pack turned and left. “Oh. I almost forgot, this entire stretch of land from Grey Mountain all the way to the Red Forest is your territory, from there, the other side is ours. Red Forest is a sharing territory, I hope that you’ll have plenty of game here,” called the wolf.

Aleu lead the pack in search of a place to call home. Finally they came to a cave with many catacombs, plenty for everyone to have their own space. She cleared her voice and said, “I believe introductions are in order. Everyone please gather around in a circle and we’ll all get to meet and greet each other,” she said. All the wolves surrounded her in a complete circle. All waiting for her to choose who would go first. Aleu looked around and spotted the wolf that informed her that they were approaching land on the ice sheet. “You there! The wolf who was with me on the ice sheet, you can go first.” The wolf cleared his throat and stood up. “My name is Merlin.” Aleu nodded toward Merlin as a greeting. “We’ll go in a circle going clockwise,” announced Aleu. This went on for an hour and everyone needed rest, so Aleu dismissed them for their well-earned rest.

Before Aleu picked a place to call her own, she went out to explore.
When Aleu went out, she didn’t notice that anyone was following her. As she strolled near the creek she saw rabbit tracks, which aroused her hunger from the long journey, and a meal would be most welcome. She followed the tracks to a large rabbit. Being an inexperienced hunter, she tried to catch the rabbit a few times, but missed. Suddenly she heard a sound behind her. She turned to face who ever was in the bushes. Suddenly Merlin came out of the bushes. “You’re an inexperienced hunter, aren’t you?” he said. “Unfortunately, I am, would you be willing to teach me?” Merlin nodded and went to inspect the fresh tracks. He sniffed him and turned to Aleu and said, “You almost had him, he left some torn fur as a trail, you were close.” She smiled and blushed slightly.
They followed the tracks and fur until they found the rabbit next to a Fir tree. Aleu went behind a bush and waited quietly so that she wouldn’t alarm the rabbit. When the rabbit heard her near by it stood very still. When it thought that the danger had passed, Aleu jumped on the rabbit and killed it. Merlin was too shocked to move from his spot. She maybe half dog, he thought, but she’s got a lot of wolf instinct in her.
Aleu and Merlin shared the rabbit for a snack and went back to the cave for a well-earned rest. “Aleu,” Merlin said and Aleu stopped and looked over her shoulder at him. “Ummm… I think your going to be a great leader. Aleu blushed and headed further into the cave to pick a spot. On her way in, she saw that everyone found a catacomb to their liking. She settled down and drifted off to sleep.

Aleu awoke to find half of the pack out hunting and the other half napping in the sun. She got up and shook her reddish gray coat and trotted out of the cave. All was peaceful and calm. So she lay down in the warm and inviting sun for a nice long nap. She just started to drift off to sleep when someone nudged her awake. She awoke to find Merlin sitting beside her. “We have a visitor, he wishes to see you,” he informed her. “Thank you Merlin,” she said with a yawn.
Aleu stood and stretched her muscles until they were tight then relaxed them until they were loose. Aleu also happened to notice that Merlin was staring at her. “What?” she asked. “Nothing,” he replied. But Aleu knew that he was hiding something because she saw him blush slightly. “Hey, you want to go for a walk in the woods some time when you get back?” he asked. Aleu blushed and smiled, “That would be wonderful.” “The visitor is at the southern border,” Merlin informed her. She nodded and asked two wolves Mercury and Jupiter to be her guards and escorts, not knowing what lurked in the forest just yet.
The visitor was the same wolf that she met yesterday, he too had guards. “Hello!” he called. “Hello to you too, I believe we missed introductions yesterday,” Aleu said. “Indeed. I am Raccoon, representative of the Crescent Moon Pack, and you?” “My name is Aleu, Leader of the Gray Mountain Pack. Where is your leader?” “MY leader is ill at the time. That is why I am here, he needs to speak with you.” Something was out of the ordinary and she sensed it. “ Mercury, go back to the pack and inform them that I will be gone for a day or two, tell them not to worry.” Mercury nodded and ran back to the pack with the message. “ A wise decision for such a young leader,” complimented Raccoon. Something’s definitely up, better keep your guard up Aleu.
As Raccoon lead them to their pack site, Aleu sensed that something was up, and Raccoon was hiding something. Not much farther I hope. “Miss. Aleu, you have been very quiet, is something on your mind?” Whispered Jupiter. “Well, yes. I just sense something about Raccoon. Don’t you sense it too?” “I thought it was just me! But yeah, I did sense something, I also noticed that you tensed, so that put me on guard,” replied Jupiter with a shocked expression on his face. Aleu wasn’t surprised.
They had gone a ways when they stopped to rest. Raccoon laid down in the afternoon sun for a nap, his two guards went to get water, and Aleu and Jupiter sat down for a rest between two Fir trees. For some reason, Aleu felt like she was in danger, but she couldn’t pick out the reason why. Why am I so tense? Raccoon has been a nice host? So why do I sense danger? Aleu pondered with all of these for a while before drifting off to a gentle sleep.
Aleu awoke to the sharp nudge of Jupiter, waking her. “ What is it Jupiter?” “Where’s Raccoon?” Good question, he just can’t leave us in the middle of his packs territory!
Raccoon awoke to see that Aleu was still asleep, “Perfect,” he thought and ran into the woods. He crossed over a creek so that if Aleu had an idea of tracking him, they would loose his sent. He went to go and meet his friends that were with them as he went to go and meet the pack, not knowing that they were taking a longer route. He finally found them next to the huge bolder. “Well boys, what do you think?” “Well Raccoon, I think my paws hurt, and our leader will be angry when he finds out what you’re doing,” replied one of his friends. “NO! About ALEU!” “Oh! Well I think she’s kind and beautiful.” “Exactly. That’s why I am going to try and make her my mate, before anyone else gets to her!”
Aleu was now getting curious to where Raccoon went. “Jupiter, can you scour the area to see if Raccoon left any sent that we can trail?” she asked. “What with a nose like this? Sure!” he replied confidently, with that he set his nose to the air and then to the ground. “Ah ha! I got it! It’s a little faint but it’s defiantly traceable.” Aleu set her nose to the ground and followed Jupiter until they came to the creek. “Darn it! He crossed through water!” Suddenly Aleu smelled something, something unusual for a forest. “Wolves. And they don’t smell like a friendly type,” she said. “You have an extraordinarily keen nose to smell that!” Jupiter Complimented.
A few second later, they heard a rustle in the bushes behind them but were too slow to turn to see who it was. Suddenly Aleu was hit on the head and darkness covered her sight.
Ch: 5
Aleu awoke with the awful throbbing pain on the back of her head, but that was the least of her problems, she was in a cave, she doesn’t remember how she got there! Oh great! Its bad enough that I have this awful pain on my head, but I also don’t know where I am, how I got here, who brought me here, or why I am here! “Good afternoon Aleu, rest
