The long, slow mourning howl
Whisped across the sea
A sad, lone creature passing by
His eyes straight on me.
His coat is grey and white,
Flecked with scars from long-ago fights.
His eye is dark and trusting,
But his other merely losing.
His tail is tipped in black
like the night sky in the Spring,
His paws are overlarge
And his muzzle prepared to sing.
The long, slow mourning howl
Whisped across the sea
A sad, lone creature passing by
His gaze passing on the sea.
