*~Kodi's Adventure~*

Kodi sniffed around the broiler room, in search of Dusty and the other dogs on his mail team. Just then curby and Ralph came bursting through the door, snow blew in behind them, they quickly shut the door and ran to the back of the broiler room shaking snow from their coats. "MAN! It's blowing like a blizzared out there!" exlamed curby. Kodi cocked his head and grinned "Thats why I stayed in.,i'm glad there won't be any mail delivery's the next 2 upcomming weeks". "Me to" replyed Ralph. "Have you guys seen Dusty anywhere?" "No we were just looking for her, she wasn't at her place, and she wasn't on the beach, she was gone!" replyed curby. Kodi was shocked, Dusty was always with the team, or her family. He said "We have to find her! What if she's stolen or hurt somwhere?" Curby sat up and said "Oooo sounds like somone has a crush!! Listen Kodi, Dusty knows her way around nome, she will be fine" Kodi looked at his paws unshure. "Whatever you say". He turned toward the door, took a deep breath, and plunged through it into the snow. He ran to the post office and asked Mell if he had seen Dusty anywhere. "no I havn't seen Dusty, *Mell gasped* What if she's out in the cold in a forest freezing to death!? he shuttered Or what if she is dognapped? Or..." "Thats enoughf Mell, I'll ask Dipsey over at the general store. Kodi followed a man out of the post office and trotted to the General store. Dipsey was just pulling her head out of a bag of beef jurkey when he walked in. "Dipsey! Have you seen Dusty? No one knows where she is!" Dipsey looked at him as she chewed the mouthfull of beef jurkey and swallowed, then said "Oh calm down honey, she's probrably out exploring, she will be okay, Beef jurkey?" Kodi said "well I guess I could eat some", he took a piece of the jurkey and ate it. "I'll be going now" "Okay" replyed Dipsey as she shoved her head back into the bag of beef jurkey. Kodi trotted down the streets of nome in search of Dusty, but did not find her. He broke into a run and headed towared his mothers house. He barked at the house, and Jenna came out yawning, "Kodiac? What are you doing out in this weather?" Kodi was breathing hard from his run "Have you seen Dusty? No one knows where she is!" "Well, no, last time I saw her she was with the team, and that was two days ago, why don't you try your father? He might know." Kodi nodded at his mother then galloped off toward the old wrecked fishing boat that Balto, his father, called home. "Dad! Dad!" Balto came walking out of the boat and met Kodi half way there. "Whats wrong?" "Dad have you seen Dusty?" Balto looked around "No, why?" Kodi caught his breath before he told his father about the mystry. "No one seems to know where Dusty is!" Balto streached "Oh son she's okay, probraby just out running one of the mail routs, for practise." "Thats what every one say's" "Well than she probrably is." Kodi shook his head and said, "I knew you would say that." He turned and ran off tward Dusty's house. When he reached his destination he stared at the emptey bowl with *Dusty * writen on it, and a small hair floated through the air, it was Dusty's. Kodiac lifted his head and looked out of the city out into the wilderness. He said to himself "If no one will help me, I'll have to find Dusty on my own!" He then jumped up and ran out of the city. The blowing snow just got worse as he travled. Kodi soon was struggling through deep snow drifts. He fell to the ground and laid there for a few seconds, thoughts of Dusty danced in his head, and his heart. He eched in pain, from the cold, he tried to stand but fell back down. Then the image of a semi large white wolf apeared on a near by cliff,He gazed at it with a streak of fear in him. The wolf jumped from the cliff and into the snow, it then trotted gracfully tward him. "Kodiac" echoed a hollow voice. "Huh?" He shivered in both fear and coldness. The white wolf stood infront of him. "Kodiac, Dusty needs your help, no one else will help her, so it is up to you to help her." Kodi looked up at the snow white female wolf that stood infront of him, "What? You...Your...your Aniu!? The white wolf? No, no you cant be...are you?" The white figure nodded and howled, then turned away and disapeared into the storm. Kodi frowned and lifted his body to his feet, he plunged through the snow. After about 30 minuits of struggling through the drifts he came across level ground. He gasped for air then pushed on. As he walked through the forest, he heared a howl, he saw a grey wolf trotting through the shadows. Then he heared a bark, it was Dusty! He galloped towared the bark, but another wolf jumped in his path, growing and snarling. Kodi backed off a little, Dusty walked up behind the wolf, she stared a while, and soon realized it was Kodiac. "Kodi!" She jumped towared him, and Kodi jumped for her, but the gray wolf lounged at Kodi and grabbed the scruff of his neck. He pulled him to the ground. "SATANTA! STOP!" yelled Dusty. Kodi kicked the wolf off of him, "Dusty come on lets get out of here!" "Dusty ran to Kodi's side and they started off, the so called Satanta yelled out "Stop them!" Three large male wolves jumped in their way and cut Dusty away from Kodiac, "Kodi!! Help me!" Dusty yelled out, she bit and growled at the larger older male wolves, but they did not give in, Kodi looked to the sky and let out a long echoing howl, he was part wolf to. He lounged torwared the three male wolves he collided with one, and the other pounced on his back. Dusty grabbed onto a not quite as big reddish colored wolf and wen't rolling down hill with him, the hill turned into a Ragging river,both dog and wolf were forced down streem. Kodi wen't off guared and looked after the two K9's going down the River. Satanta pounced onto Kodi's back, "No one gets in my way!" He ripped at Kodi's flesh, then he grabbed his neck and threw him against a large rock. Kodi lay there for a while unconsouse. Satanta aproched him and right before he bit into his throught, Balto lounged onto his back. Kodi looked up and saw his father, "Dad?" Balto said through the mouth full of wolf fur and flesh "I'll handle this guy, you go save Dusty!" Kodi nodded and ran towared the hill and jumped off the top into the river. He swam with the tide. As he past by Bear Claw Rock, he noticed a unusually formed rock on the shore, no it was no rock, it was Dusty! "Dusty!! Hang in there i'm comming!" He pushed his way to the shore. Dusty looked up at him, "Kodi? You you rescued me." Kodi nodded, can you stand? Dusty said "Yeah, i'm just a bit weak." She staggered up and leaned against Kodi for support. They walked all the way back to nome. It was almost dark when Kodi went back out in search for his father. He wen't at a steady pace, so he wouldn't tire out. Balto had already crossed the river when Kodi found him. Balto was limping, "Dad! Your hurt. Let me go back and get help!" "No Kodi, if you leave me you won't return till dark. If that happens, I will be killed" Just then Aniu apeared she walked to her son, and her grandson. She said "You have proven your father son relation strong, you make a true family, or should I say Pack." The dogs and the wolf smilled then raised there heads and howled togather. Then Aniu left once more. Kodi and Balto made there way home. It was dark when they reached the town of nome, but they made it. When Dusty's owner, and musher saw that Kodi had returned his prize huskey he was so joyfull. "Kodi! you make me proud. I award you by placing you as my lead dog." Kodi smilled and barked with joy. The dogs of nome congragalated him. Curby came out and said "Gee Kodi we should have listend to you." "Yeah you were right Dusty was lost" agreed Ralph. Jenna came running and said to her son "I'm so proud of you Kodiac." Then she turned to Balto, and rapped her neck around his. "You saved Kodi, and by saving Kodi you saved Dusty too, I bet Aniu would have been proud of both of you" Kodi looked at his mother and father, and smilled, then looked his father in the eye "I bet she would have been too."
