Wolf's Rain Two: Part 8
The Second Journey Begins
Kiba was finally the leader of the pack again! They had Cheza, and everyone back together. Toboe's plan had worked out for the best. Though there were two extra wolves, but of course that was never a problem since Spring was on it's way.
But, and there always is a but in every good situation, Blue was expecting Hige's puppies and they couldn't travel very far thanks to that. The pack had to move slower, but atleast they were getting somewhere.
Kiba would have gone straight to traveling if it weren't for Cheza; so they stayed in the alley about another week, and were on their way. Rowan and Rain had been introduced to Kiba, and they each seemed to get along fine. So far so good!
Rain never stopped playing around, and it didn't bother Toboe that much. On the journey before he didn't have a playmate or someone to talk to, now he did. Though sometimes Rain acted like he was more than just a playmate, Toboe didn't make any other moves. He didn't want to ruin this great friendship now that he had it! Thankfully Rain didn't seem to mind at all.
"Will you two quit already?" Hige rolled his eyes, both youngsters hopping around in the snow while the pack was walking towards their destination, retracing the steps they had taken the first journey.
Blue shoved him slightly. "Oh come on! You'll have to deal with this when you become a father, get used to it." Hige smiled slightly and licked her cheek, in which Kiba smirked at.
"Sorry Hige!" Rain laughed and just walked onward, abandoning Toboe, who she had burried in the deep snow.
"Hey!" Toboe shook snow from his pelt and got up, racing after the pack. "Wait up!"
Rowan was padding near the back, but not too far behind. Tsume was also behind, but farther away from Rowan than anyone else. Toboe glanced behind him at the two. But I thought they liked each other?
Rain seemed to think the same thing as she stared as well. "We should find a way to get them together," she whispered. Nodding, Toboe just kept following the pack as he thought of ideas.
Cheza was quiet, and padded by Kiba at all times. The small pup never played, though the longing to play with the other young ones of the pack was seen in her redish-pink eyes.
Kiba stopped and spoke as he lay down by a boulder. "We'll stop and rest here for a while, then keep moving."
Toboe looked up at the darkening skies...it almost looked like it did the day he...the wolf shook his head to clear of the memory, and hoped it wouldn't happen again. The thought of Darcia made him almost tremble, though most of it was in anger.
Rain poked him and then jumped back, tail wagging, inviting him to play again. Toboe grinned and bowled her over, barking mad as they each tried to nip at each other's ears and paws.
Laughing, Rain bit his nose and jumped out of his reach quickly and easily. Blue watched with soft eyes, obviously not able to wait until she had pups of her own.
Cheza tipped her head, staring at the two. Then she turned to look up at Kiba and the others and spoke with her soft, puppy voice. "They are having good time...This One wishes she could play one day."
Kiba sighed and flattened an ear, knowing how she wanted to be a part of it, but was much too small. Toboe and Rain were rough, and nearly full grown adult wolves. Not runts anymore.
Rowan flicked an ear and watched the two wolves jump around in the snow. Tsume was near to falling asleep in the middle of daylight, Hige was snacking on a rabbit he'd caught, and Blue was watching them to make sure no one got hurt.
Rain had just tackled Toboe before the two yelped at a massive lightning bolt hitting the ground near the pack, and thunder roared loudly, hurting everyone's ears.
Jumping away, Toboe pinned his ears back and looked up at the dark sky, wind beginning to make their fur pull the wrong way, and both sand and snow starting to cloud their vision.
Kiba stood up, fur bristling, though it didn't make a difference thanks to the wind. "We have to find shelter," He growled loudly, shielding Cheza.
Hige and Tsume stood up to go look for an abandoned den, and headed off. Suddenly the unusual oncoming storm got worse, the wolves couldn't see or smell each other.
Good luck that Rain was standing right beside Toboe, and the two had to huddle on the ground until the sand/snow storms passed.
When the sand withdrew from their spot, Toboe stopped digging his claws in the ground and stood up, ears pricking. Rain got up beside him, shaking sand and snow from her fur. "How odd," She muttered as the cold winter winds came back instantly.
Wierd, Toboe thought, then turned around as the others began to stirr. Kiba and Cheza stood up, shaking their pelts dry as the rest of the pack began to do the same.
Toboe felt a pain in his head but ignored it and flicked an ear. A simple headache, he decided, until he saw the others narrow their eyes in pain as well.
Rings began to go through each of the wolve's ears, and they backed up and hung their heads with growls and snarls. Something was near...and whatever it was hurt their head and ears alot.
Finally the red wolf lifted his head when the rings slowed down until it was gone, but his jaw dropped at what was in the sky.
Some sort of spacecraft looking plane was in the air, hovering many feet above, but something on it was gleaming bright red. It jogged his memory to when the nobles were trying to capture the wolves in his past lifetime.
Uh oh.
