Prologue: It was a cold night in Nome Balto and Jenna were coming back from the boiler room “Whew that was a night huh Balto?” Jenna asked Balto”Yeah, am I tired and you know I have a mail run tomorrow and the kids are coming to.” Balto said “Yeah I know lets get back and get some shut eye”Jenna said they went back to their home Balto went to where he and Jenna slept and fell into deep sleep. “Likea Sheae where are you”? Jenna yelled, “We are over here mom,” they yelled Jenna went where she heard their voice. Jenna came in the pantry where they were playing. You guys have to go to bed it’s late and you can’t run if you’re tired.” Jenna said arching an eyebrow. “Alright mom”. They said. Everybody went to sleep. Next morning Balto awoke Jenna, Sheae and Likea.” Balto” Jenna said in grumpy voice. “Aww come on Jen I have a mail run remember.” Jenna woke up. Balto and Jenna said their good byes and nuzzled her two kids. Jenna watched the mail team vanish. “Well, what is it”? Jenna said looking at Drake. “I don’t know yet but lets go to the Old Mill and inform everyone about the two, murders that have taken place in Nome.” Drake said walking away

“Good idea”. Jenna said walking away from the horrible seen following Drake. They went inside the Old Mill many dogs gathered for Drake’s announcements. Jenna sat by her son Dingo. Since he was a police dog he had to attend the meetings. There was silence in the room Drake began

“My fellow friends there is serious case of murders and I’m sorry to say but two dogs in Nome have died.” Drake swallowed hard “ We have no idea who the murderer is but I want my best people on the case Dingo is the top of the police dogs so he is in charge of this case.” All dogs turned their gaze to Dingo. Dingo was little embarrassed but didn’t show it. ”The investigation starts tomorrow.” Drake finished the announcements all of the dogs left the Old Mill accept Dingo he was speaking to Drake about the murder.

“Dingo… Drake began I want you to be careful this is an odd case so be careful Drake said”. “I will.” Dingo said, “Well, Drake said it’s late time to go to sleep.” Drake smiled at Dingo and says “Good Night.” Dingo stood up and left the Old Mill with his mother to her house.

“Dingo I guess you have a case tomorrow.” Jenna said smiling at her son “Yeah mom”. Dingo said, “ Well lets go to sleep.” Dingo said they went to sleep. Next morning Dingo was walking across the street to see the victim of the murder. He sighed and kept walking. He reached the butcher’s where the murder had been committed. The body of the dead dog lay there. Dingo sniffed the snow around the dead dog trying to pick up a scent. He sniffed the air. He also sniffed the dog. Dingo felt horrible. He thought he would be sick. Dingo felt uneasy he felt someone or something was following him. He heard someone walking. They were getting closer and closer by the minute. Next thing Dingo felt was someone was on top of him. Dingo didn’t get a clear image of the dog. But all he could see was a black blur. The dog had his front paws on Dingo’s chest causing him to cut off his air. Dingo gasped for air but he was losing more and more. Finally the dog bit Dingo’s belly and fell unconscious. Drake was down the street to checking on Dingo. He went in the alley where the murder had been committed. He saw a horrified scene Dingo was on the ground with his eyes closed. He went closer to Dingo and saw his chest rising and falling. “He is alive but……… hurt let’s get you to the doc’s.” Drake said dragging Dingo with him He was at the doc’s when Kodi came walking across the street. “ Hey Drake” Kodi said

Drake gave a heavy sigh. “Why are you at the doc’s”? He asked Drake. Drake sighed again “Kodi………” Drake paused “how am I going to tell him” he thought “What is it Drake”? He asked Drake again. “Well, you must have heard about the murders right”? Drake asked Kodi this time. “Yeah” He said arching an eyebrow “Why?” He asked Drake. Drake begun “Dingo… was attacked.”…………. Kodi was left speechless. But he regained his thoughts. “Are… are you sure?” hoping that Drake would shake his head. Drake shook his head. There was silence for a while. The door opened of the hospital. “Hey there Kodi.” Doc said “well come in”? Drake and Kodi followed doc in the hospital. They saw Dingo laying there on his back with his eyes closed. Kodi walked up to him. Kodi saw the cut on his belly. But somehow the cut was still bleeding causing Dingo to lose more blood. Kodi face was blank. He didn’t even want to believe it but the truth lay in front of him. “Oh, God… who could have done this”? He said to turning to Drake. “I… I don’t know really but I think it was the same murderer who has been on committing murders. He said in somewhat worried voice, yet I never thought this would happen”.

Kodi mind went blank just form looking at his brother. Kodi slowly turned his gaze off of Dingo and looked at Drake. “Should I… I Drake hesitated to ask but he knew he should. Should I… I a tell Jenna”? ”No, that is not necessary for you I’ll do it” He said. Kodi ran out of the hospital. He could only run by the friction of the ground. So his legs couldn’t run as fast as he thought. He had finally reached the house of his mothers. Kodi could feel his heart rate beating faster and faster. Kodi got a thumping feeling all of a sudden. Kodi scratched on the door waiting for a reply.” Who are you?” a voice asked him. “It’s me Kodi.” He said to the voice. “Come in.,” the voice said to Kodi walked thought the doggie door to see Jenna and Saba sitting smiling at him. But their smile vanished when they saw the look on Kodi’s face. “Kodi what’s wrong”? Jenna said up on her feet. “Mom…Kodi paused Mom Dingo was attacked.” He said flatly. “What?” Both Saba and Jenna chimed in. “H….How”? Jenna said. Kodi sighed “Mom don’t take this wrong but they really don’t know. He said All I know is he is alive” He said. Jenna thought she was going to cry. Saba went to her mother and comforted her. Kodi also walked over to his mother and sat beside her. “Don’t worry mom Dingo is a tough guy.” Jenna buried her face in Kodi’s shoulder and began to cry. Kodi just held her.

Chapter1

Balto was running across the icy bridge. He looked over his shoulder to see Sheae and Likea were running. Sheae was running second and Likea was running third. The rest were the dogs that Balto had helped rescue Nome. As they crossed the icy bridge. The wind became intense it was hard to move. The musher looked around for shelter for him and the dogs. He turned the team to the old barn where they would spend the night. They had to make three runs so the trip was about a week or two long. They had unpacked. The musher gave Balto and the rest of the dog’s dinner. They all had to sleep in the barn the musher was on a haystack sleeping. The dogs were across the room sleeping having wonderful dreams………………

Balto was walking back to Nome since he and the team had came back. Balto thought he should go see Jenna. Balto walked in through the doggie door to see Jenna lying on the floor with blood around her with her was Saba, Dingo and Kodi. They were all dead blood covered the floor. Tears
