this mountain range in what ever direction it takes us. Nome is just on the other side.” Balto explained.
“Sounds like a plan.” Jenna said as all the dogs began to canter.
“A DANGEROUS plan.” Scout yelled as she ran.
“You have a better idea?” Balto asked.
“Well whatever we do, it better be fast.” said Sage as they started heading up the mountain.
“Man, this is gonna be awesome. There’s so many new sights to see, so many new scents to learn.” Decoy said excitedly.
“This isn’t a game Decoy, we’re tying to find our way home. You’re gonna have to keep up.” Rylie said.
“Hey don’t worry about me, I got the stuff, it’s you guys I’m worried about.” Decoy replied.
Banshee rolled his eyes and lowered his head, growling.
“Keep going you guys, it’s a long way up.” Brendon warned as he picked up the pace.
A while later, the sun was shining, and it was even warmer, and the pack of dogs were almost at the top of the mountain.
“Balto, are we almost there? I need to get home, I’m starved.” Scout complained.
“I’m exhausted.” Brendon said as he panted.
“I thought you could handle it.” Banshee said.
“I can, but hey, every dog needs a rest once in a while.” Brendon replied, already getting annoyed with the bitter ways of Banshee.
“We’re almost to the top, we should be able to see the town from there, keep going.” he encouraged.
“Now, when we start heading down the other side, we gotta stick together, we can’t get lost.” Rylie announced.
“Whatever you say, Rylie.” said Decoy quietly. Even though Decoy was young, he was still obedient enough to do what Rylie said now and then.
“Finally.” Jenna said as she stood at the top of the mountain. The rest of the dogs made it to the top and stood.
“Ohhhh, Balto!” Jenna said slowly.
“Whoa...get a load of this.” said Decoy.
The dogs saw nothing but rugged mountain range as far as the horizon. It was covered in trees, rocks, grass, dirt, snow at the top, and somewhere was a river. It was without a doubt the most beautiful thing that the dogs had ever seen, even better than the Northern Lights.
“You can see everything from up here.” said Decoy.
“Except the town.” Sage said bitterly as she looked at Balto.
“Well good job Balto, I hope you’re happy. You dragged us all the way up here for nothing!” Banshee scolded.
“Maybe we shouldn’t go.” Steele suggested.
All the dogs except for Balto agreed.
“Yeah, I guess we’ll head back.” Rylie said as he looked back down at the way they came up.
“Oookaaay.” Balto said confidently as he started heading down the mountain towards home.
“Hey were are you going? Where’s he going?” Decoy asked.
“Balto?” Jenna said.
Balto stopped and turned his head towards the dogs. “I told you, I’m going home!” he said.
“Balto, are you even looking at what you’re getting yourself into?” Rylie asked.
“You’ll get killed!” yelled Scout.
“Enough Scout, we’re not gonna get killed.” Balto said.
“Balto, you really need to stop and think about this.” Sage ordered.
“I have to go. My owner’s not coming to me, so I’m gonna go to them. Now are you guys coming or not?” Balto said.
Brendon walked down the mountain and stood next to Balto without saying a word. He put his two front paws a large rock and admired the view. He knew it would be tough, but he could do it.
“You can’t be serious.” Sage said.
Brendon looked back at the other dogs, waiting for them to come.
“I’m going with you.” Jenna said. She walked down next to Balto and turned her head back towards the rest of the pack. “Well?” she asked.
“Look, there’s no way I’m...gonna let you two go off on your own, I’m coming with you.” Decoy walked down and stood next to Balto and Jenna.
“Well, if Decoy’s going, then I have to go.” Rylie headed down.
“I’m going if Balto’s going.” Jenna said as she padded down the rocks.
“I’m going if Jenna’s going.” said Sage and she carefully walked down.
“I’m going if Sage is.” said Steele. He followed.
“I’m going if Rylie is.” said Scout. She jumped down, and joined the others.
“Well if you’re all going, then I guess I have to.” said Banshee as he followed.
“Alright you guys, let’s go home.” Balto said as he lead the pack down the mountain.
Brendon barked in excitement and ran to the head of the pack, behind Balto.
They trotted down a tan colored, flat but rocky terrain as they looked down at the bottom. There was definitely more to Balto then the dogs had given him credit for, along with the rest of the dogs. They were soon to learn just how much more.
The dogs traveled across the flat smooth ground in the pink sunset along side a small river, across hills of grass that were almost completely covered in large white boulders in the night.

Day 2
And the next morning, they ran through an ankle deep river, heading the opposite way of the quick current, glancing at each other and enjoying every moment of it.
They entered a wooded area and slowed to a walk.
Decoy was barking his loud, and sometimes high pitched bark, down a rabbit hole, checking to see if it was there for him to eat. He began to dig as he growled. A few seconds later, he stopped and put his front paws on both sides of the hole and barked. He turned and ran.
“Whoa, there’s so many new stuff out here!” Decoy said. He walked through a big hollow log, sniffing the walls of it, catching all sorts of smells. He walked out the other side and ran up to rejoin the pack.
“This is why I didn’t want to come, because of you, Decoy.” Banshee said.
“You don’t even care about getting home.” Steele said as he looked at Decoy. He was beginning to become slightly annoyed by the pup.
“Will you all stop bickering?” Brendon asked as he slowly trotted.
“Hey I care, it’s just that there a so many new things out here. I gotta know what they are.” said Decoy.
“No, you’re supposed to be helping us find the way home!” Scout barked as she looked at him.
“Hey, I think you’re making too big a deal out of this, pal!” Decoy yelled as he barked.
Banshee, being quite a temperamental dog, pushed Decoy down to the ground and growled. “I’m sick of you, Pup! Quit messing around and keep up, cuz I have no problem leaving you behind!” Banshee scolded. Banshee was very strong and ruthless, he was tough, and sometimes bullied the other dogs, and was mostly very aggressive.
Brendon shoved Banshee off of Decoy and they both began to fight.
Balto rammed into Banshee. The dog went flying, and landed on his back and rolled until he stopped.
“ENOUGH!” Balto barked. “Let’s go!” he said piercingly.
“Quiet! All of you!” Rylie yelled as he stopped and looked back at both of them.
Banshee and Decoy separated. Decoy was following the group, but cantering around, barking and looking at all types of things, as the rest of the dogs trotted.
“Banshee, you need to lay off of Decoy, I’m tired of you always bullying him around, he’s not you’re responsibility, he’s mine.” Rylie said. Rylie always thought of himself as the leader of his gang, he felt as if he had a responsibility to the dogs, which didn’t make his position too easy.
“Pace yourself pup, we have a long way to go.” Balto advised.
“Don’t sweat it man, I can go on like this for days!” Decoy said loudly.
“Hey Balto, I’m getting hungry. We’ve gotta find some food.” Sage said.
Balto slowed to a walk along with the rest of the dogs. “I’ve been searching for food ever since yesterday. I haven’t seen anything.” Balto said worriedly.
Sage sighed and hung her head.
“Well then we better start searching.” Brendon suggested.
“Hey look! There’s some food!” Decoy yelled. He ran as fast as he could after a brown rabbit.
“Decoy, get away from that thing!” Rylie ordered.
Decoy didn’t listen, he barked a shriek-like bark as he chased the rabbit down it’s little hole. Decoy dug away at the hole, trying to make it bigger. He stopped and barked at the hole. He whined as he looked up and then trotted back to the dogs. “Ah! We’re never gonna get to eat!” he complained.
“Decoy, come on, let’s go!” Balto demanded.
Decoy immediately ran to the rest of the pack.
The group of dogs slowly trotted along, down the path.
“You have a lot to learn, Pup.” Banshee said.
“And quit barking, you’ll scare everything away!” Steele
