“It was all a lie?” Jenna asked.

 

“Of course!” Kaltag said. “You know you love him Jenna. You don’t really want to end it.” he added.

 

Jenna lifted her head, then stood. “I know.” she said. Jenna smiled and ran out the door. And headed back to the boiler room.

“Balto’s been quiet for quite a while.” said Sage.

 

“Maybe she killed him.” Steele said.

 

Then, They heard Jenna run in.

“Balto.” Jenna said.

 

Balto perked his ears and looked up at her.

 

Hunter was watching from his alley, and became a little worried. Jenna didn’t seem very mad anymore. The Irish Setter walked up to the boiler room, and saw Jenna walk up to Balto. Amber was about to move in on Balto, but instead, she backed away into a shadow.

 

“I’m sorry Balto. I never should’ve gotten mad at you. Nikki, Kaltag, and Star told me what really happened. I’m so sorry!” Jenna said.

 

“It’s alright.” Balto replied.

 

“I love you Balto.” said Jenna.

 

“I love you too.” Balto replied.

The two nuzzled and licked each other’s noses.

 

“But why would Amber do this?” Jenna asked.

 

“I don’t know. She used to always be nothing but nice to me.” Balto said.

 

Jenna widened her eyes. “Has she ever gotten...affectionate with you before?” Jenna asked.

 

“A couple times.” Balto replied.

 

Jenna gasped. “She likes you.” she whispered in shock.

 

Amber cringed and backed away.

 

Balto widened his eyes.

 

Jenna was speechless, she just stood there and looked at Balto.

 

Balto shook his head. “Nah, I admit she’s pretty, but I only have eyes for you.” Balto said.

 

Jenna smiled and nuzzled Balto’s neck.

The four under the hospital smiled and looked at each other.

 

“We have to promise not to tell anyone that we heard this whole thing.” Rylie said.

 

“Deal.” Steele, Sage, and Scout said together.

 

Amber hung her head and tail and slowly walked back to her house.

The next day was no different. Sunny, beautiful, and the dogs were hanging out together in the old mill.

 

It was a big test of friendship between the dogs, how loyal and determined Balto was to his home, and all his friends there. How Balto and Jenna got into a fight. When Steele, Sage, Rylie, and Scout decided to be good friends, and not make things worse by showing up at the fight scene, and how Balto and Jenna got back together.

 

All the dogs will always be there for each other.
