ran to Hunter who was on his hind legs. Banshee stood on his hind legs right in front of Hunter and grabbed him and pushed him on his back as he bit his muzzle. Banshee hopped off and Rylie rammed hunter into the wall. Steele jumped in and clenched Copper’s back and bit his neck. Copper yelped, and Steele kicked Copper right next to Hunter, who was still lying on the ground. Their job was just about done.

 

Hunter and Copper stood up as Rylie, Steele, Banshee, Scout, Jenna, Buller, Decoy, and Trigger cornered them, growling and showing their fangs. They left and opening for Hunter and Copper to move out into the road. They ran to the middle of the street and the dogs followed and faced them.

 

“ENOUGH!” Steele barked.

 

The fighters stopped and looked at him.

 

Kaltag looked back at the strays. “You’re the biggest jerk in the entire town, Hunter!” he yelled.

 

“Hey, watch your mouth, goldie!” Hunter growled.

 

Togo stepped up. “No one talks to any of my friends like that!” he barked.

 

“And no one talks back to me!” yelled Hunter.

 

“Yeah, he’ll kill you!” Copper snapped.

 

“Yeah right!” Amber said in a bratty way.

 

“I’ve seen stray dogs around here! I’ll find them, it wont just be me and Copper anymore!” Hunter barked.

 

“You threatening us?” Jenna asked.

 

“You better back off!” said Buller.

 

“Unless you wanna wake up at the vet!” Decoy threatened.

 

“With a bunch of stitches all over your head!” yelled Scout.

 

“Now beat it!” Rylie yelled as he barked twice.

 

Hunter and Copper turned and ran away.

 

Rylie looked at Banshee. “Yo, what’s up with you? You know Hunter used to be a fighting dog. And I told you to knock it off!” Rylie said.

 

“I know, but he attacked me, there was nothing else I could do but fight back.” Banshee explained.

 

“Are you crazy? Hunter could’ve killed yous!” yelled Nikki.

 

“Remember Sammy? Hunter killed him in under 4 minutes.” said Decoy.

 

“Oh I remember him.” Jenna said sadly.

 

“You almost got all of US killed too!” yelled Scout.

 

“Well I didn’t...and that’s all that matters.” Banshee said. He turned around and limped back to his house.

 

“I don’t know WHAT I’m going to do with him.” Rylie said as he watched the husky.

 

“He better watch his back, Hunter will definitely go back for him.” Amber said as she was looking back at Banshee.

 

“I know. He’s gonna get himself killed one day.” said Buller.

 

Rylie looked at Amber. “By the way, who are you?” he asked.

 

Amber sat down. “Oh, I’m Amber, I moved here a while ago.” she explained.

 

Togo walked up to Scout, who was his big interest. “Hey Scout.” he said.

 

“Hey Togo, I’ve missed you!” Scout said. She sort of liked him too.

 

“I’ve missed you too.” Togo said. He licked her cheek a few times.

 

Rylie barked and growled as he ran towards Togo and stopped in front of him. Rylie and Togo never really got along because Rylie wanted to be the lead dog of Togo’s team, but Togo got the spot instead. Togo backed away as Rylie showed his fangs. “You better leave her alone!” Rylie barked. He suddenly bit Togo’s paw.

 

Togo whined and backed away. He growled at Rylie.

 

“Rylie! Stop it!” Scout snapped.

 

“Quiet Scout!” Rylie barked.

 

“What is the matter with you?” Scout asked.

 

“That dog is nothing but trouble.” Rylie explained.

 

“Your just jealous cuz I got the spot as lead dog on the team!” Togo growled.

 

“Oh I know your asking for a fight!” Rylie said as he barked several times as he moved around.

 

Steele was sick of the fighting so he changed the subject. “Well anyway, you guys wanna come hang around in the boiler room for a while?” he asked.

 

All the dogs agreed, except for Rylie. “Actually, it’s getting pretty crazy around here. Come on Scout.” he said. He trotted towards their house and Scout cantered to catch up to him.

Rylie and Scout had the same owner, so he was very protective of her. Scout always did everything Rylie told her to do, since he was the leader of the gang.

The next day, in the afternoon, Balto and Nakita were running along, laughing and barking in a snowy plain next to a forest. Balto stood on his hinds legs and Nakita jumped on him and knocked him to the ground. They laughed and smiled at each other, and then got up. Balto frowned as he looked around him.

 

“What’s wrong?” Nakita asked.

 

“I’m just...beginning to think that I’ll never make it home. I’ve been traveling for days, and it’s taking so long, and the weather is getting worse out here.” Balto explained.

 

“Well, it’s just a town, I’m sure they could wait a little bit longer for you.” Nakita replied.

 

“There’s more than that.” Balto added.

 

“Like what?” asked Nakita.

 

Balto was about to answer, but instead, he paused.

 

“Balto?” Nakita asked.

 

Balto sniffed the air. “Wait a minute.” he said.

 

“What is it?” Nakita asked again.

 

Balto bolted straight ahead, away from the forest.

 

“Balto, wait!” Nakita yelled. She followed him and tried to catch up.

 

As Balto was running, he began to see a faded image of something through the mist of flurries and light snowfall. He gasped and smiled when he was able to make out what he saw. It was Nome! He had finally made it. He stopped dead in his tracks and Nakita caught up. As she approached him, she slipped on the ice over the ocean and fell on her back. She kept sliding towards Balto, and stopped and she was next to him. She got up and shook off the snow.

 

“Well...here it is.” Nakita said.

 

“Yeah...this is it. Thanks Nakita.” Balto replied happily. He waited for a second, then ran. Nakita just stood there and watched sadly. When Balto made it into town, Nakita hung her head, and sat down.

 

Balto knew where everyone would be. At the old mill. It was where the dogs hung out every night. He ran as fast as he could. He stood in the doorway as Jenna, Steele, Togo, Amber, Sage, Rylie and his gang, and Balto’s team turned their heads.

 

“Balto!” Jenna yelled. She ran up and nuzzled him, and they both walked into the room and all the dogs greeted Balto. When everyone calmed down, he saw Rylie, Scout, Banshee, Buller, Decoy, and Trigger.

 

“How did you guys get here?” Balto asked.

 

“You should’ve stuck around a bit longer after Rick was arrested. The cops arranged for us to get home.” Rylie explained.

 

Balto sighed. “Yeah, now you tell me. You have no idea what happened out there.” Balto said.

 

“Tell us about it.” Sage said as she lied down.

 

“Alright.” Balto replied.

 

All the dogs lied down in a big circle, and let Balto tell his story.

 

After he finished, people were amazed at what he had gone through, and a few wanted to meet Nakita, from what they can gather, she seemed to be very nice.

 

“Well, I’m gonna go. I’m so tired.” Balto said as he stood up. “Jenna, you coming?” he asked.

 

“No, I’ll stay here for a while, I’ll catch up with you later.” she replied with a smile.

 

“Alright, I’m gonna stop by the team house really quick, then I’ll head home.” he said. And then he padded out the door and turned towards the team house.

 

Amber stood up and yawned. “Yeah, I think I’m gonna go too. See you later guys.” she said as she quickly trotted out the door and followed Balto.

 

Balto walked inside his team house and into the kitchen area and towards his water bowl. He was dying of thirst, and the team house was closer to the old mill than home.

 

Then, he heard someone come in. He walked out from behind the counter and saw a white and spotted English Setter walking into the living room area. It was Amber.

 

“Amber, what are you doing here?” Balto asked as he walked towards her.

 

“Oh, I just heard a lot about this place and I just wanted to see what it was like.” she lied.

 

“Oh.” Balto said. He closed the door, then stood in front of the fire.

 

Just then, Amber stepped up next to him and licked his muzzle.

 

Balto snuffed and looked at her “Hey!” he laughed.

 

Amber laughed and playfully nibbled at his ear.

 

Balto laughed as he tried to back away from her, but Amber kept following.

 

Balto reared up and wrapped his arms around Amber’s neck.

 

Amber fell backwards onto her back, and Balto fell on top of her. He quickly got up and looked at her.

 

Amber got up and licked his nose and laughed.

 

Balto smiled and lied down in front of the fire.

 

Amber sighed and lied down next to him.

 

Balto yawned. “Man....I’m exhausted.” he said as he laid his head down and closed his eyes.

 

Amber took one last look at him, and did the same.
