dog.” Balto admitted, hoping it wouldn’t effect Nakita in any way.

 

Nakita threw her head back in disbelief. “Really?” she asked.

 

“Yeah.” answered Balto.

 

“That’s interesting.” Nakita said.

 

A few minutes later, they arrived at her den. Balto ran to the meat and stuffed his face.

 

“Wow, you were hungry.” Nakita laughed.

 

Balto sat up and swallowed. “I haven’t eaten in days.” He explained.

 

Nakita joined him in eating. “How can that be? There are plenty of prey animals around here.” Nakita said, confused.

 

“A man stole me from my home, and he mistreated me. He hasn’t fed me in a while.” Balto explained.

 

“Where is your home?” Nakita asked.

 

“Nome.” Balto answered. “But I’m not sure how to get there.” he added.

 

“I’ve been there before, I could take you.” Nakita said.

 

Balto looked up at her and smiled. “You know the way?” he said with a smile.

 

Nakita nodded.

Back on Balto’s boat, the 7 month old mail dogs in training: Dakota, Demon, Shadow, Dodger, Biji, and Dusty were playing on Balto’s boat.

 

“Aw man! Training has been so much fun! I can’t wait until we become and official team!” Biji yelled.

 

“Yeah, you’ll get to be a sled dog just like your dad, Dakota!” Shadow said excitedly.

 

Dakota was laying down on a wooden box on the deck of the boat with his head resting on his crossed paws.

 

The puppies slowly approached him with Demon up front. “Dakota?” he said nervously.

 

Dakota lifted his head and looked down at his paws. “Too bad my dad won’t be here to see it.” Dakota said quietly.

 

Dusty jumped on to box and sat down. “Aww c’mon Dakota, you know he’ll come home. He always manages to make it back, no matter what.” she said.

 

“But this time he’s being watched. That human got hold on him. He’s probably keeping him somewhere.” Dakota said.

 

Shadow jumped onto the box and sat on the other side of Dakota. “What part of ‘he always manages to make it back no matter what’ did you not understand?” Shadow said with a raised voice.

 

“What part of ‘A human got hold of him and he’s probably keeping him somewhere’ did YOU not understand?” yelled Dakota.

 

“He’ll make it.” said Biji. He jumped onto the rim of the boat and looked out into the horizon. “I just know he will.” he added.

That night, Balto and Nakita were walking through the snow together, making their way to Nome.

 

It was almost pitch black, it was very late at night. Their eyes glowed as the moonlight shined on them.

 

Nakita stopped and looked up. “Whooooaaaaa!” she whispered in amazement. “What’s that?” she asked.

 

Balto looked up. “It’s the northern lights.” he answered. It reminded him of Jenna. He looked back on the time when they were under the hospital, looking at the wall where the fake northern lights were reflecting, and the time they almost kissed in front of it.

 

Balto and Nakita sat down as they looked at the dark blue sky filled with the moving lights.

“It’s beautiful.” Nakita said as she leaned on Balto.

 

Balto widened his eyes. That was the exact same thing that Jenna said as she was looking at the light from the broken bottles. Balto sighed as he continued to think of Jenna.

The next day, Rylie, Buller, Decoy, Banshee, Scout, and Trigger arrived in Nome after a long boat ride. They were reunited with their owners, and the newspapers posted the news about the no longer missing dogs!

 

The dogs ran into the boiler room where Steele, Jenna, Amber, Sylvie, Dixie, Nikki, Kaltag, Star, and Togo were in.

 

The dogs cheered and ran and hopped around all over the place.

 

“Hey Banshee!” Steele yelled. “Man you haven’t changed on bit!” he said as she circled him.

 

“It’s good to be back!” Banshee yelled.

 

“Scout!” Jenna screamed. They hopped around all over the place. “Oh my god! I can’t believe you guys are here!” Jenna yelled.

 

“I’ve missed you so much!” Scout yelled.

 

Rylie jumped on Jenna. They rolled on the floor and stopped when Rylie was on top of her. He licked her nose and Jenna laughed.

 

“I’ve missed you so much Rylie!” Jenna said.

“I’ve missed you too.” he said.

 

Decoy and Sylvie wrested as Trigger chased Dixie all around the room. The dogs were having so much fun!

 

“Wait.” Jenna said as she got up. “Where’s Balto?” Is he ok?” she asked.

 

“He’s fine.” Buller said. “But when we escaped, he ran off, he’s trying to make his way home.” he added.

 

“So he’s coming back?” Jenna asked.

 

“That’s right.” Buller answered.

 

All the dogs cheered saying “Yes!” “I don’t believe it!” “I knew he could do it!” “I never doubted him!”

 

“Unbelievable!” Amber yelled.

 

Hunter was standing in the doorway. He growled when he heard that Balto was coming back. He walked back to his alley.

 

“Why didn’t he go with you?” Dixie asked.

 

“I guess he didn’t know that we were going to be brought here.” Trigger said.

 

“Do you think he’ll make it?” Togo asked.

 

“Well yeah, he’s got to!” Decoy said as he sat down.

 

“Nice to have the Pup back.” Dixie said sarcastically to everyone. Of course, she was referring to Decoy. She never liked him much because of his immature ways.

 

“Well lookie here, the old friends are back.” said a voice from the doorway.

 

All the dogs looked to see Hunter standing in the doorway. Copper walked up and barked.

 

“Oh this is all we need!” Jenna said as she rolled her eyes.

 

“Hunter?” Banshee said.

“Banshee! What a surprise.” said Hunter. “Last time I saw you, you were laying on the ground in my alley with blood all over your neck and leg.” Hunter teased.

 

“Don’t start with me.” Banshee said as he growled and licked his lips.

 

“Banshee, knock it off!” Rylie said firmly as he turned his head and looked at Banshee.

 

Banshee growled at Rylie, but then calmed down.

 

Hunter continued the conversation. “Oh I’m starting with you, and I’m gonna end you too.” Hunter said as he growled.

 

Scout jumped in the middle of the two dogs. “That’s enough you two, we don’t have to go back to the old days.” she said as she nudged Banshee the other way.

 

“You got Scout fighting your battles for you now?” Hunter asked. Hunter pushed Scout out of the way and attacked Banshee.

 

“Get ‘em Hunter!” Copper barked.

 

Banshee and Hunter stood on their hinds legs and bit and scratched each other. They barked and growled as they carried the fight out into the road. Hunter had Banshee pinned by the neck and Banshee kicked and scratched Hunter’s head and chest. Banshee was set free and he jumped on Hunter’s back. Hunter ran, and after a few strides, Banshee fell off and banged his back onto the ground. He got back up and growled at Hunter. Banshee Bit Hunter’s leg, causing it to bleed. Hunter grabbed the scruff of Banshee’s neck and pulled him down and tore some fur off the scruff as he pulled his mouth off. Banshee yelped and kicked Hunter in the stomach. Hunter pinned Banshee, and then Banshee bit Hunter’s shoulder and ripped his mouth away.

 

 

All of the sudden, Rylie started barking. He jumped into the fight and pushed Hunter away. Banshee jumped aside and took a breather as Rylie continued the fight, even more viciously.

 

Copper started running to join the fight, but Jenna rammed into him and knocked him on the ground. Copper got up and shook. “What was that for?” he yelled.

 

“Cool it Copper!” Jenna snapped.

 

“Hey hot stuff, why don’t you but out?” Copper said.

“You looking to get fixed?” Jenna said as she showed her fangs and growled. She barked at him and growled again.

 

“Like that’ll ever happen!” Copper replied.

 

“Shut it, before I break you’re neck!” Jenna threatened. 

Copper stepped forward. “I’d like to see you try.” he said.

 

“Is that a challenge?” Jenna asked. Jenna was never much of the fighting type, but she will if she has to. She jumped on Copper and they began fighting.

 

Buller ran up to them, and slammed Copper in the jaw. Jenna kicked him with her back legs and bit his neck. Buller growled at Copper as Scout jumped on Hunter just as he was about to bite Rylie’s neck.

 

Copper kicked Jenna against the wall of a building. He stood on his hind legs over her, but before he could do anything more, Trigger bashed into him and scratched his chest. Banshee helped Jenna up and ran to Hunter
