jumped on his back as he ran. «Your not the only one who can ride!» Anela said. She howled until she decided to jump off of the running pup.
Then, Nanook rammed into Anela. The two pups stood and snarled at each other.
«You can’t beat me, Anela!» Nanook said.
«Oh sure, no one could!» Anela said sarcastically. She lunged at Nanook. They wrapped their arms around each other’s necks and rolled until they let go.
All of the pups jumped in and started fighting. Once again it was a big ball of wild pups. They fought and barked until everything was interrupted by Balto.
Balto barked as loud as he could to get the puppy’s attention.
All of the pups stopped and looked at Balto with their tails between their legs.
«That’s enough!» he yelled.
«We’re sorry.» Nellie said quietly. All the other pups agreed.
Bandit’s team was sitting, watching the pups and smiling. They thought they were absolutely adorable.
«Those are some nice pups you have there.» said the 4th dog.
Jenna chuckled. «Thank you.» she replied.
Balto smiled and spoke. «Now, go home and eat.»
Jenna and the pups turned around and started walking to their home.
Balto glanced at Bandit, then turned around and followed Jenna.
Bandit lowered his ears and head, and growled. The fur on his back bristled.
«Let’s go Bandit!» yelled the musher. Bandit ran, and the musher lead them to Balto’s team house. Since Balto’s team house was much bigger than all the others, that was where Bandit’s team was going to stay until their wheel dog team was well again.

Later, Balto, Jenna, and the pups went to the team house to relax with the team. When the team house came into view, Dakota spoke. «Dad, can we run ahead to the team house?» he asked.
«Sure.» Balto said.
«Let’s go guys!» Dakota said. He and the pups raced to the team house and ran inside as their parents watched and smiled.
When Balto walked in the team house, his eyes widened as if he’s seen a ghost. There, he saw Bandit and his team, relaxing with Balto’s team. Jenna walked in and lied down while Balto just stood there, still as stone.
Bandit sneered at the puppies as they were running by. He got up and walked to Jenna and lied down next to her.
«Hi Bandit.» Jenna said.
«Hey Jenna.» he said. «Are those your pups?» he asked.
Balto walked in and lied down near Jenna and Bandit so he could listen to what they were saying.
«Yeah, they’re Balto’s too.» she said with a smile. Jenna pointed at each puppy as she said their names. «This is Anela, Nellie, Diego, Nanook, Kiara, and Dakota.» she said.
«That’s a very nice bunch of pups.» Bandit complemented as he looked at her.
«Thanks.» Jenna said. She walked to the fire and laid down. Bandit followed and did the same.
Jenna looked at him. «So..what town are you from?» she asked.
«I’m from Taylor.» he answered.
«Where are you headed?» she asked.
«We’re on our way to Takotna.» Bandit replied.
«And you’re the champion sled dog in Taylor?» asked Jenna.
«Yeah, I’m the 3 time winner.» he said
«That’s really impressive!» Jenna said. «Steele was the 3 time winner until Balto was put on the team.» she added.
«Who’s Steele?» Bandit asked.
«He’s the Alaskan Malamute that you met earlier. The one in the tan belt collar with silver ovals on it.» Jenna explained.
«Oh right, I’ve heard of him, he was a champion too. He was supposed to save the town.» Bandit said.
«Yeah, he was always trying to get at me.» Jenna said.
«How many times has Balto won?» Bandit said as he tilted his head, hoping it was less than 3 times.
«Oh, he was just put on the team after he saved the town, he’s just a 1 time winner now, he won the first race of the season. But he’s defiantly gonna win a lot more, everyone knows that he’s the fasted dog in Nome. Possibly in other towns too.» Jenna explained.
«That’s amazing.» Bandit said. He realized he was losing his chance with Jenna.
«So, I take it you’re the fasted dog in your town?» Jenna asked.
«Yup, I’m famous for it. I’m known for it in some other towns.» he lied.
«Impressive, but we’ve never heard of you here.» Jenna said.
«Well yeah, my town is pretty far from here, but now you have, and apparently, so has the rest of the town.» said Bandit.
Jenna chuckled. «Yeah, I guess so, you made quite an entrance.» she said.
Just then, Kaltag walked up to Jenna. «Jenna, Balto wants to talk to you on your way home.» he said.
«Alright Kaltag, tell Balto I’ll be leaving in a few minutes.» Jenna said.
«Isn’t Kaltag the name of a town southeast from here?» Bandit asked.
«Yeah, I was born there, that’s how I got my name.» Kaltag explained.
«Oh.» Bandit said.
Kaltag walked away to tell Balto what Jenna said.
Bandit looked at Anela, who looked just like a wolf, and her brothers and sisters looked just like Jenna.
«Balto’s half wolf right?» Bandit asked.
«Yes, why?» asked Jenna
«I was just making sure that that was why that pup of yours looks somewhat like a wolf.» said Bandit. Bandit widened his eyes and squinted, hoping that the wolf comment wouldn’t offend Jenna.
«Yes, that’s Anela, it’s strange that she was the only one who turned out to look like a wolf.» Jenna explained.
Bandit relaxed «Yeah, it is.» he said. «But it makes her unique.» he added.
«We’ll have to remember to give a proper introduction of our pups to your team, but I have to go, Rosie didn’t want me to stay long.» Jenna said.
«I’m sure my team would love to get to know your pups better.» Bandit said as he smiled.
Balto watched angrily as they made a bond with each other.
Jenna walked up to Balto. «Balto, I’m gonna head home now.» she said.
Balto began to walk Jenna home.
«What did you want to tell me?» Jenna asked as she looked at Balto.
«Well...ok I’m just gonna say it. I heard Bandit say ‘This town will be eating out of my paw in to time, and so will that pretty dog, Jenna. She’ll be mine!’ Balto quoted.
«Jenna, he likes you, and he wants me, and our pups out of the picture! He wants you to be his mate!» he added.
Jenna looked surprised at Balto, she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. «Balto please, that’s ridiculous, he’s such a nice dog, he has no interest in me.» Jenna said.
«Heh..that’s where you’re wrong. He’s being nice to you because he wants you to be his mate! He wants you to have his puppies! I swear, I heard him say that. Why would I make this up?» Balto asked.
«You could be just jealous because I’m making friends with a lead dog and now you feel that you have competition.» Jenna said.
«You honestly think that I would do that to you?» Balto asked.
«I don’t know Balto, you just seem to be acting a little jealous.» said Jenna.
«Jenna! I wouldn’t be acting this way if he hadn’t said that he wanted you to be his mate!» Balto yelled as he stopped in front of Jenna’s front door.
«Balto! Stop doing this! This is stupid! There’s nothing wrong with Bandit! But there’s definitely something wrong with you!» she yelled back.
Balto gasped. «No! There’s something wrong with you! You don’t even believe me! I would never lie to you!» yelled Balto.
«Your lying to me right now!» Jenna screamed.
Balto’s wolf instincts kicked in. He jumped on her and knocked her on her back. He growled as he stood over her. Jenna bit his face and pushed him off. Balto lunged at her and bit her leg.
«BALTO!» Jenna yelled as she held up her right front leg.
Balto stared at her as his muzzle bled from Jenna’s bite. Drops of blood landed in the snow.
Balto ran back to the team house. Jenna walked into her house as a tear ran down her cheek.
Balto ran into the team house. All the dogs gasped as they saw his bleeding muzzle and messy fur. They ran up to him as fast as they could.
«Balto, what happened?» Blaze asked. Blaze was a tan and white Siberian Husky, the wheel dog on Balto’s team, and also his close friend.
Balto walked in and lied down on his pillow in front of the fire.
Star went to get a wet cloth, then rubbed the blood off of Balto’s muzzle.
«Thanks Star.» Balto said. «Jenna and I got into a fight.» Balto started.
The dogs gasped.
«She’s really mad at me.» he said.
«I
