bus had to shoot up and over a hill.
A few times the bus stopped in the snow and a few times Balto and the team had to pull it out, but they soon arrived at Anchorage, the bus supporters there cheered and congratulated the driver.
Balto waited for the train on the platform, he waited, and waited, and waited.
The train was snorting up a hill and it was doing well when it suddenly stopped,
"We've run out of coal!" shouted the fireman "We can't use the coal in our wagons, we'd be dissqualified."
Sam got out and attatched himself to the front end of the locomotive. But no matter how hard he tried he couldn't start the 20 ton locomotive and 19 ton wagons. The blizzard got worse and worse and soon he was lying down almost asleep in the snow.
Suddenly he heard a howl. Out of the darkness walked a wolf, she was roughly the same colour as Sam but had blue eyes instead of brown. She saw that Sam was in trouble and called the rest of her pack.
Sam didn't see or hear anymore, he just fell asleep.
He woke up suddenly, he was being nipped by the wolf
"Who are you?" he asked
"My name's Aleu" she said "We saw you were in trouble and we decided to help you"
"Well thankyou" he said
"You are very welcome" said Aleu
Sam soon harnassed the wolf pack to the front of the locomotive, and they began to move it, the blizzard got really bad here.
"Where are we going anyway?" shouted Aleu through the wind
"Anchorage" said Sam
They continued through the snow when they came to a snowdrift.
"How are we mean't to get past this?" said Sam
"Oh hang on" smiled Aleu, she then howled a special tune and the ground started to shake. Sam looked over the snowdrift and then out of the mist, came a herd of horses, they galloped for the train and stopped next to Aleu.
"You called us?" said the Alpha
"Yes" said Aleu "We need you to help us get through this"
"Fine" smiled the Alpha. They all began running towards the rear end.
"Uh they're going the wrong..." began Sam but he was cut off since the train started moving. They were pushing it, what with the wolves pulling at the front and the horses pushing at the back the train started to pick up some speed
Balto waited with Jenna at the platform when a shout went up from the crowd.
"They're coming!" and out of the fog walked the wolves and horses pulling the train into the platform. Once they reached they reached the buffers at the end of the siding Sam led down and the team congratulated him, the wolves and the horses.
Balto went over and noticed Aleu.
"Aleu?" said Balto
"Dad?" said Aleu "What are you doing here?"
"I helped the buses get here" he said,
Aleu then walked up to him "I found Sam looking for you"
"You were looking for me?"
"Dad?" said Aleu "Could i come home again?"
Balto was taken aback, then he noticed Sam walking up to him
"Sam" he said "I..." he was cut off by Sam holding his paw up for silence
"The bus wasn't perfect getting here, the train wasn't perfect getting here, shall we just agree that dogs are the best way of getting around in Alaska" He said
Balto nodded he then turned to Aleu
"Of course" he said "Would you like to live with us Sam?"
"No thanks" smiled Sam "The railway's really the only place for me"
"Ok" smiled Balto, then he, Aleu, the team, and the wolf pack all walked back to Nome. He turned to find the horses had been unharnassed and had gone back into the wild. He smiled as he watched the sunset over the town and he felt that he had made some true friends in Nome at last.
