Arf” Orca starts running to the barn.

-They follow her in the vet’s truck. When they get there Allison sees Kodi and knows what’s wrong,

 -“Kodi’s got a broken leg”. Allison sits down by him and strokes him.

-“You know what Kodi? This is the third accident this week.”

- Kodi looks up at her and the gleam in his eye tells her ‘I know.’ He whines and roles over.

-“Let’s get you in the truck” she picks up Kodi who’s gotten much lighter since earlier this week. “Have they been feeding you at all boy?”

- Kodi shakes his head as he’s lied down.

-“What are we going to do with you?” she pets her head and the vet lifts Dusty up on to the truck bed.

-“This one looks like she’ll be having pups soon.” He says shutting the tail gate.

-“Get Balto!” Dusty yells at Orca.

     Orca heads off to the boat. “Kodi and Dusty are at the vet!” she says to Balto and they both head off to the vet. They both go to see Kodi first.

-“What happened to you?” asks Balto.

-“S-s-steel, H-h-hurt me.” was all he got out.-Kodi

-“Sorry Balto, but you and your friend need to leave.” She ruffles the fur on Balto’s neck. “You can come and visit later.” She shuts the door.-Allison

-“This way” Balto goes under the vet’s office and goes to the air grate. “Listen.” He presses his ear to the grate.

-“Kodi’s broken leg may never heal. He’ll be in cast for months and he won’t be able to be on the mail team anymore!” says the vet.

-“Kodi, won’t be happy with this.” says Orca.

   She knew Balto wasn’t either. He pulled his ear away from the grate.

-“We need to tell him” barks Balto.

-“Huh? I put the dogs outside.” says Allison.

                They walked back inside the room Kodi was in. He had a cast on his right hind leg. “Looks pretty bad Kodi, you feel any better?” asks Balto. “I guess. It’s not hurting too much.” He looked over at his leg. “Oh, who I’m I kidding? IT HURTS LIKE MAD” he yelps. “They’re going to cut me from the Mail Team too.” He hangs his head. “Don’t worry you’ve got Dusty she’s been cut from the team too.” says Orca. Allison walks in and pets Kodi, “Sorry boy, but I called Mr. Simpson and you’ve been cut from the team. Don’t worry you have Dusty and the pups.” Kodi looks up at her.

-“Oh yes, the pups, right this way.” says Allison. Kodi hobbles over to Allison. “Take it easy on the leg boy.” she says.

                They go in to the next room were Dusty lies with her six little wolfdog pups. Kodi smiles and nuzzles his mate. The puppies laid by their mother and Kodi said,

-“My six little babies.”

-“My master can’t keep them all. And our master’s way too busy with the mail team.”

-“Mr. Simpson has a son, that just got a little wolf pup, might want one.”

-“Can’t your father keep them?”

-“Hey, dad, could you come in here?”

Kodi calls

-“What is it?”

Balto asks, entering the room.

-“Would you keep our pups at the boat? I mean just to sleep until then…”

He whispers,

-“Get old enough to find and owner”

-“I guess I can keep them.”

Balto smiles at Dusty.

-“At least I’ll be able to keep then for at least eight weeks.”

Says Dusty, she nuzzled the six puppies. That’s colors were verities of Balto’s brown shades, Jenna’s red shade, Jenna’s cream, and Kodi’s dark fur, Dusty’s purplish gray fur, Dusty’s father Brandon’s long wavy white shade of fur, and from Dusty’s mother’s black shades. A large rang of different colors.

Orca looked at Balto. She asked Balto to watch the girls, Miranda, Avrill, and Adriana were left with Balto. Orca        journeyed to The Shed, three nights later upon arriving she saw Luke in the snow playing. She snuck up behind him and pushed him with her paw, knocking him off balance.

-“Hey!” he screamed, he started to scream “Dad” but realized his mother. “MOMMY!!!” he screamed nuzzling his head in his mother’s fur.

Duke realized ‘mother,’ and ran to Luke and Orca.

-“MOMMY MOMMY!!!” Duke yelled, he nuzzled his mother’s side.

-“Where’s Dukas?” she asked.

Duke and Luke frowned,

-“He went to look for you two days ago. He didn’t come back.” Duke whined.

-“Are you hungry,” Asked Orca.

Orca gazed at her pups that had grown so big.

-“No, Aniu, would hunt for us. She brought in a rabbit, that we ate this morning; dad killed a big bull elk that we’ve eaten.  Dad said he’d be back soon.”

Orca was torn to look for Dukas, but to watch the puppies, Afraid to abandon her pups, a storm was coming, a bad one from the looks of it. She looked up,

-“Pups, we’re going to look for shelter in a cave in that forest,” she out stretched a paw towards the forest, She knew the pack leader, Alue. She knew she’d take them in.

 Aniu came with them as a guide to the pack. The pack patrol snarled at Orca and Duke and Luke, but granted Aniu,

-“Who are you and what do you want?” growled the male a head of the rest.

-“I’m Orca friend of Balto and Alue, your leader.”

-“Why are you here we have no food for you”

-“I wish to speak to your leader, I’m with Aniu,”

The male looked at Aniu, who nodded,

-“OH…Kay, don’t be hasty with me!”

Orca and the puppies stepped past the border. Aniu lead them to the cave Alue’s pack slept,

-“ALUE,” yelled Aniu.

The brownish gray wolf dog walked through the cave entry,

-“What?” She grumbled.

Orca stood in front of Alue, before she could speak Alue spoke,

 - “Orca? Is that you?” Alue asked.

Orca smiled,

-“You remembered me? Could you… let me and my puppies have temporary shelter?” Orca smiled to Alue.
