Balto lied down behind Jenni under the blanket and the two puppies felt the warmth from the other. And after some time they both fell asleep, outside a snowstorm were touring up.
Jenni suddenly woke up and felt a warm body behind her. The memories came back to her and she raised her body so she stood on the floor. She yawned and stretched her legs as Balto also woke up. They looked at each other, both with a goofy smile in their faces. Jenni saw the snow outside and she shivered.
Jenni smiled at him and they began to walk. It was pretty windy out there and it was hard to find the right way back to the town. But Balto did not worry, he was a part wolf and he used his sense of smell and his magnificent sight like his ancestors did before him.
It took the couple thirty minutes to go back, even though the boat was not that far away from the town. They were like two ice cubes when they reached Jenni’s house. In the front of the building, Major where sitting down, waiting for his youngest to come home. He lifted his head as he heard a familiar voice.
-… and then I just smiled back. The two puppies began to laugh at the joke Balto told and when Jenni turned her head forward she spotted her father.
- Hi Daddy ! Jenni smiled at Major and as he raised and began to walk to them. Balto laid back his ears and looked at his new pretty friend’s father. He was scared and nervous, dogs did not use to get along with him.
Major nuzzled his daughter and checked Balto from his ears to the tip of his toes. Balto noticed that Major was a bit more shabby than the other dogs he had seen; this one was a bit different.
Major gave Balto a final glance and walked through the door to his home with a smile. Jenni looked after him and then she laid her eyes on Balto. She blushed and looked away as his eyes met hers. Balto lifted her chin with her paw and smiled at her as his cheeks turned red.
The small puppy with the tiny muscles lay down beside her mother and siblings. Her mother licked her carefully on her forehead and she soon fell asleep. Outside the stars were glistening and the moon was shining on the town who said goodnight to the world. And in this town, two small puppies were sleeping and dreaming. One was sleeping with her family close to her, dreaming about a cute and different boy she met earlier on the day. The other one were sleeping alone with his blanket that smelled like the pretty girl he met that stolen his young and innocent heart. Two small puppies that was not aware of their faith and life that would be lined with fear, death, heartbreaks and pure love.
