3. The World of Galdor
Katie finally wakes up to the sound of a snapping twig. DarkDragon came out of the woods with four rabbits in his mouth. He dropped the biggest one in front of Katie, and Katie thanked him for it. He then gave the others away and laid back down for his long nap. "Hey Alpha, " asked a gray she-wolf with darker gray, lighter gray, and white markings, whose name was Tank, "Where did you get that glow-stick?" Katie was about to answer, but a small faint voice told her not to say anything that happened that night and she listened to it.
"Alright everybody wake up and lets get moving!" said Katie as she woke everybody up and made them all move out in a matter of minutes. The sun slowly rose into the sky as the four wolves marched on. The four wolves walked into the forest until they came across a wide river. It was too big and too fast, strong, and deep to swim across.
Tank looked at the river and said, "Well, there's no way we are getting across." The others laughed at the sarcasm in her voice. Katie looked around and decided to send a hunting party out.
"DarkDragon and CreamSoda you will be going hunting for a deer or something large to eat." said Katie, "Tank you will stay here with me and we will look for a decent place to stay and make some nests out of moss and other soft material when we find that place." DarkDragon and CreamSoda nodded and ran into the forest, while Katie and Tank started to look for a place to stay.
As the sun reached its highest point in the sky Katie shouted to Tank that she found a good place to stay by the river. Tank rushed over with a mouthful of moss and grass to make some nests with. Katie nodded her head and Tank set the stuff down and went back to get more.
The sun was now setting and and Katie was resting by Tank on her left side and the river on her right side. Everything was quiet. Even the roar of the river seemed to be muzzled and all was at peace. Suddenly a howl rose on the wind and DarkDragon emerged from some bushes with CreamSoda and a dead deer with following close by. CreamSoda was having a hard time dragging the deer and Tank rushed to help him. When the deer was in a small clearing and everything was at rest. Katie announced that it was time to eat and the four wolves dug into the deer meat.
As the sun slid behind the mountain tops and the four wolves each ate their fill they decided to turn in for the night. Katie yawned and walked over to one of the piles of moss and grass. She settled down in to it and curled up into a ball. The other three followed her lead and did the same. The at night in Katie's dream Shorna came to her again. "Hello Katie I must talk to you." said Shorna
Katie trotted over and asked, "What is it?" Shorna turned around and grabbed a green, blue, and purple glow-stick.
"These," he began, "are for the rest of your pack. Like yours they will prove their innocence in this world and remember do not kill another animal without cause. If you do the sticks will stop glowing and you will be as a wanted human for doing crime. In this world we only do what what's right. Now I need you to take your pack unto a fallen maple tree by the river. There I will personally meet you and give you and your pack a tour of this world known as Galdor. Don't be late." After he said that Shorna disappeared and Katie was left alone.
A loud howl woke Katie and she woke up ready and alert for any trouble. "Alpha, Tank has fallen into the river and she is trying hard to get back, but the current is too strong." Katie's eyes widened and she ran to where Tank had fallen in. Without thinking her instincts made her jump in after Tank.
"Help!" cried Tank and she was pulled under. Katie swam over and dived down into the water. CreamSoda and DarkDragon held their breath as a few moments went bye without seeing either of their pack mates. A head popped out of the water. It was Katie and in her jaws was Tank. Katie tried to stay calm while swimming back to shore and CreamSoda ran to help her. He waded into the water and grabbed Katie by the scruff of her neck and dragged her onto shore. Tank spat out mouthfuls of water and whispered to Katie, "Thank you...." Katie smiled and nodded she then thanked CreamSoda for helping her and DarkDragon began to help Tank back to her nest.
As everyone settled down Katie asked, "What happened!?"
Tank shivered and answered, "Early this morning before the sun was evening rising I smelt something strange. A black wolf came out of the shadows and tried to attack you. I knew I had to stop him so I ran in his way and he tackled me. With fur flying, claws and teeth flashing around we fought ferociously for hours. When the sun finally started to come up the wolf ran to the river I followed and when I got there the black wolf jumped straight over the river. I couldn't believe what I saw, but when he landed on the other side he looked back. On his face was a small smile and he motioned for someone to follow him. At first I wanted to go wake you then the ground started to tremble, and that's when it hit me. That wolf was no ordinary wolf it had special powers. The rocks then tumbled out from under me and I plunged into the water. I realized that he motioned the rocks fall and not for me to follow, and then you came and rescued me."
Katie nodded with a stern face, but her eyes showed how shocked and surprised she was. The story Tank told left her deep in her thoughts. 'Was this black wolf Forgon the wolf of darkness?' A loud voice jerked Katie away from her thoughts. "Huh, wha...." said Katie and she looked around.
CreamSoda asked, "Why do you have three glow-sticks in your nest Alpha?"
Katie remembered what Shorna told her and she let the secret out. DarkDragon's mouth was wide open and along with the others they stared in amazement. "So we all get one of those glow-stick things to prove our innocence in this world." said CreamSoda. Katie nodded and handed each one a glow-stick. DarkDragon got the green one, CreamSoda was given the blue, and Tank had gotten the purple one. Once they were on the wolves they glowed as bright as ever and everyone stared at them amazement.
"It's true." mumbled DarkDragon. Katie looked at the sky and realized it was almost noon, so she gathered the pack for a meeting.
"Now you all no we are now in a strange world and Shorna, the wolf of light, told me to meet under a fallen maple tree by this river. We will go find it and when we meet Shorna he will give us a tour of this land known as Galdor." announced Katie. The others howled in agreement and off they went to search for the fallen tree. Katie walked along the edge of the river hoping soon they would find Shorna and begin this tour.
DarkDragon, who was a few yards away from Katie, called out, "I've found Shorna. He's over here!" The others ran up to him and before they got too close Shorna stopped them.
"Now," he began, "before I take you on the tour I must warn you of a danger in this world." The others looked at each other nervously, when Shorna breathed on all of them and they began to float.
"What is this!" cried Tank in horror.
Shorna replied, "Don't worry this is the easiest way to give a tour. Wherever I go you will follow without having to waste any energy. Now come." Shorna then flew over the river and said, "This river is known here as the Destroyer only one out of every one thousand wolves make it out alive." Everybody turned around and stared at Tank, but soon they were flying through the air again.
"This wind feels so good!" exclaimed Katie. CreamSoda was playing with the clouds as they soared through the air, but was shocked to find out that they were made of water and he left them alone after that.
Shorna dived through the clouds and over a huge forest. He then spoke, "This is the forest of Tyrinn. It covers most of Galdor and holds secrets never uncovered in Galdor. Do you see the mountains over there?", and he pointed with his nose. The others nodded and he continued, "That is were you'll begin your training with me."
"When and...." said DarkDragon, but was silenced by a cold stare from Shorna.
Shorna growled, "No questions asked until the end." He then flew over a large plain that had no cover at all except the grass. "Now," he began, "this is the Plain of Sorrow. If you go in you are sure to find something to be sorrowful for. I suggest you don't go in." Every laughed at the hint of laughter in Shorna's voice at his last phrase.
Shorna then flew back to the river and and set the wolves down. "That is all in the tour, but remember to make it to those mountains and I will be waiting for you to begin your training. Is there any questions?"
Tank asked, "Why can't you just fly us over there and begin our training now?"
Shorna answered, "Because you must journey there yourself to see if you can survive in this world. This is the last you'll see me until the training begins. Goodbye." Shorna then disappeared with a flash of light and was gone without a
