*UNLIKE OTHER STORIES, THIS ONE IS IN 3rd PERSON*
Zasha ran throught the woods with the wolf. She stopped at a stream to drink alittle water because she was becomming dehydrated. As she drank some, the wolf came up beside her, and big down on her throught. Oh no, he's going to kill me! She thought. She struggled as hard as she could, but being so weak, and this wolf being bigger than her, she couldn't do much. Suddenly, the red collar dropped into thee snow. All the tension and stress put on her neck was gone, but it was still alittle sore and bloody. "You wouldn't live long with that, I'm surprised you managed to make it this far." He said. The moonlight glimmerd down on them, and Zasha was able to faintly make out his image. He was yellowish and had black on the tips of the fur on his head, spots over his eyes and a stripe of black along half his back. Half his back and legs were reddish colored, with a white and red tail. Looking closer, she noticed a large scar over one of his eyes. "Humans?" She asked, without thinking. Immediantly he knew what she was talking about. "D...demon." He said. "You wouldn't belive the story." He said, half-growling. Zasha looked at him and made a suspecious face. "Who are you, then?" She scoffed, trying to be as tough as him.
"My name isn't important, don't worry about learning it. I'll be gone soon enough...I never stay anywhere long." He said. "Name." Zasha said. "Now." He was somwhat impressed by her tone. "Shade. Don't wear it out." He turned to leave. "Wait!" Zasha said, and began to run after him. "I don't wait for anyone." He said. He climed up a steep rock, and jumped over the other end. Zasha followed, but when she looked over, he was gone.
She wandered into the woods. She had no place to go. No home or anything. She looked around. being a wolf, her vision was clear, but because she followed the wolf, she had no idea where she was. She heared howls from other packs, which were not any familar voices, most calling hunts. She could faintly smell a grizzly, which made her uneasy. Alot of unfamilar sounds seemed to follow her. She wandered farther and farther away. The sun started to come up. She saw an opeing in the woods, and walked into it. A coulpe of miles away she could make out a small town. She looked around. She made up her mind to get to it, and hope it was Nome.
Knowing this would be a few hours, maybe days, worth of walking, she decided to go ahead and start on. A few miled into the trip, she paused. A large frozen lake was in her way. There was no going around it, she had to cross it. She looked down at it. First looking at her badly damamged neck, she grimanced at the image. Looked into the ice farther, she noticed somthing bad. She could see the fish. How is that bad? VERY very thin ice.
Zasha pushed down on the ice with her right fore paw. Examining the ice more, she put her left fore paw on it and pressed down. It haven't given in yet. She took a big breath, and filled her lungs with air, and placed her back paws on the ice. She was completley standing on thin ice. She shakily took her next paw forward. It was wet and slippery, not to mention freezing ice cold. She went to move her next paw, and slipped. Scrambling to pick herself up, she heard a heart breaking sound. CCRRRRRCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK. The ice was breaking. Looking behind her, she could see a small crack in the ice. Picking up her pace, she briskly walked on. Half way through the lake, she turned to look backwards. A polar bear was at the edge of the ice. He was fishing, and was breaking through the ice where Zasha had partly split it. Putting his paws ontop of eachother he pressed down, and sent a shock through the ice. A large crack ran though the ice, right under Zasha's stomach. She gasped, and becan to run. The ice was cracking behind her. Putting so much pressure on each paw, they were breaking through the ice and becoming wet.
She kept running until she got to the end. Her back paw slipped and her tail and right leg became soaking wet. She pulled herself up the bank of the lake. "Dang." She wispered looking at her legs. If a snow storm came, her leg and tail would freeze soild. She tried to shake off the wated, but was still to damp. She looked around. Suddenly, a miracle from God, a crazy idea popped into her mind. She rolled in the snow, covering her legs and paws, then shaking it off. She did this for about an hour until her paws were dry.
She began to run to the town. Being extremly lucky, she managed to wind up in White Mountain, very close to Nome. After reaching White Mountain, she started for Nome.
It was almost dark when she got there, but she got there and lied down under a tree. After resting for half and hour, she wandered into her junk yard to sleep on an old matress. She slept long and hard until she was awakended by her best friend, Angel. "ZASHA! How did you get away from the humans? You'll have to tell me later, some dog is about to take on Steele!" She barked. She tugged on Zasha's paw, which was still somwhat sore from walking such a long way. She stood up an followed Angel.
Walking up to a street, Zasha stopped in her tracks. "Shade!" She wispered. Angel looked onward. "That monster needs to be taught a lesson or two!" She barked. Shade stood straight up to Steele. He puffed out his chest, and held his head high. "I'll ask you one more friggen time, get the #*!! outta my way before you get seriously damaged." He said. Steele laughted. "Ahahahaahah! You hear that guys? This mutt thinks he could actualy take me on! I'm old enough to be his father!" He smirked. Three shrimpy dogs behind him laughed. Steele turned his attention onto Shade. "What will you do?" Steele smiled. He looked Shade in the eyes, a threat to dogs. Shade's tail straightend out. In wolf language, that was basically a death sentence. Steele took his nose and stuck it under Shade's muzzle to annoy him. Shade jumped and bit Steele beween the eyes. Steele through Shade to the ground but Shade, landing in a perfect crouching postition with all four paws, lunged again. He flipped Steele onto his back, and jumped up, aimming for his neck, but Steele turned sideways so Shade missed. The fight moved itself to an alleyway, where a couple of dogs blocked the entrance so no others could see the fight. "Move along, nothing to see here." They said as two other dogs went into the alleyway to break up the fight.
Zasha leaned forward. For some reason, she really really hoped Shade wouldn't get hurt. One of the dogs came up to her. "Do we have a problem here? I said move it." He said, and nugded her to the side. She wanted to pick a fight with him, but kept walking.
"Wow, well that was interesting, so tell me, how did you get away from those humans anyways?" Angel asked. "That wolf back there...he saved me." She said. She sat down in the snow, going through everything in her mind. "Zasha?" Zasha....." Angel's voice was fading out of Zasha's head, and everything went black.
Zasha woke up in her junkyard, lieing on the ground. Angel and Jaxs must have brought me in here, She thought. She stood up. Was all that just a dream? She wondered. She paced around the junk yard, then walked out into town. Suddenly, she saw Steele limping across the street. He was beaten badly, but had a smirk on his face. "He was a suckish opponet at best." He laughed. "He'd probably regret fighting me...if he still can feel anything in the grave." Steele laughed. Zasha's eyes widened. GRAVE?!?!?!?!She jumped up and ran.
Tears began to form in her eyes. She ran to Angel and Jaxs's house, ans sratched on the dog door. Angel came out. "Zasha, what's wrong?" She asked. Zasha sat down. "Steele! He killed Shade!" Zasha said. Realizing that Shade must be the dog Steele faught with, andsat down beside Zasha. "How do you know?" She asked. "I haven't heard anything yet." Angel said, trying to make her feel better. "He said he did." Zasha said, and looked up.
"He said he did? He's lieng then." Angel said. Zasha perked up a bit. "How can you tell?" She asked. "Do you think those dogs would have blocked off the fight if they thought Steele was going to win? Normaly they let him beat the other dog to make others fear him, this time they blocked the fight." Angel said. "They would only do that if there was a chance of him loosing, besides, Steele's a liar. Don't you remember when he came back telling everyone Songa's dad Balto was evil?" Angel said. Zasha stood up and wagged her tail. "Really?!" She barked. She started to run off. "Zasha! Why do you even care so much?" Angel said. Zasha paused for a moment, then kept going without giving an answer.
Runninh through the town, she could hear rumors about the fight. Some about Shade winning. Zasha hoped those wern't rumors, but facts. She walked around the town for hours, then sat in the snow. She just rememberd somthing. I never stay anywhere long. Somthing Shade had said earlier. She shook the thought
