"I hate you!" came the sobbing voice of a girl. She shoved away a young man who merely stared at her eyes cold. "Aww, C'mon Miley," he spoke low as she cried. "Are you kidding...I hate you Chase!" She shouted again. She put her face in her hands and sobbed. He huffed saying nothing. "I said I was sorry" he pleaded emotionlessly. "It doesen't matter Chase...we're through" she whirled around still crying. His blank face turned to rage in an instant "You'll regret this Miley Shay! What you see as the end is only the beginning....you won't see the last of me!' he thundered storming off. She returned home still crying and instantly rushed up to her bedroom....Here our story begins.

You know, we dogs are loyal animals. We'll do anything to protect our best friend. I mean anything. It was a calm, warm summer night. The crickets sang outside and the warm summer breeze ruffled the grass. Inside our house however was quiet a different story. I sat at the foot of the stairs. My master had just burst into the house crying her eyes out. Oh..my name's Riley a golden retreiver lab mix, Miley and her family adopetd me from the pound when I was a little pup. I got my name after Miley's older brother Riley who died fighting over seas. They bought me to try and cheer her up. Nothin could cheer her up now though. I knew that Chase guy was trouble from the start. Any way I'm getting off topic. I perked my ears to try and hear what Miley and her mother were saying. "Calm down sweety..." came Miley's moms voice. "But mom Chase was perfect...oh mom you didn't see how angry he was he was just so-" she cut off and began sobbing again. A moment later the door came open and Miley's mom came out and hurried down the stairs completly ignoreing me. See I knew he was a jerk. Oh well what are ya gonna do. I got up and padded to the door. Pushing my way through the clear plastic doggie door and settling down on the porch. I inhaled the sweet night air. I love summer. I rolled over onto my back listening to the crickets picture perfect.

"Arrroooowwwwllll" What the... that sounded almost like: A wolf! I rose to my feet. Wolves don't live around here though. Another shrill call came this one shorter. Well I guess I'm going wolf huntin'. I grinned this'll be fun. I lept down off the porch. Gazeing back over at my house. I'll be back. I hurried along the lawn lowering myself to the ground. My stomach brushed against the untrimmed grass. Now let's see that call came from- I was cut off by something falling around the house. Um...over there. I moved along reaching the corner I slowly stuck my head around. What I saw amazed me. A massive black wolf far larger than any dog I'd ever seen stood there. The next part is creepier. It pushed up with its front legs and stood straight up on its hind legs like a human. My eyes grew wide. I gotta get out of here I whirled around only to see two golden eyes stareing at me. Whoa!

"Well, well, looks like I found a little spy, huh fuzzy" the wolf chuckled.  

"Who..you..I saw-"

"Oh shut up dog!" it spat in anger. "I'm not looking for you...I'm looking for the girl"

Girl...Miley! "There is no girl here" I chocked.

"Ha Ha Ha" it laughed "Nice try"

I remained silent.

"Your covering for her...filthy beasts" it snarled "Why do you defend her, boy? Tell me what I want to know and I'll be on my way."

I still said nothing.

It tsked It's tounge and shook it'd head. "I'm warning you dog. Your not who I'm after, but if you continue to stand in my way then I won't hesitate to-"

"SHUT UP! She loves me she gave me this collar around my neck! She rescued me from the pound when I was a pup! She's given me the best home I could want. And I'll never betray her to you...you...."

A smile played across it's face "My name is Chase"

"Wha-What?!"

"You heard me" he smiled.

I shook my head in disbelief "No.."

"That's it"

He rammed into me with a supriseingly strong force knocking me to the ground. He put one of his massive paws on my side. "My patience for you has just run out, you flea bitten mutt." he growled

I stared up at him in horror.

"You want to defend that creature? Protect her!? Love her?! Have it your way."

He closed his eyes and a moment later opened them. The origianl gold now shone brightly.

Suddenly my body began to burn. It's wasen't hot at first. It started as a low throb. My body started shakeing violently. What was he doing to me?! I could feel everything that was happening. It all happened so fast...but before I knew it my paws split apart, my ears twisted and pulled, and my snout shrank. Then it was over.

I lifted my paw and there was a pale furless thing.

Chase chuckled "Like being a human?"

"Wha.." I shivered. I noticed I was wearing human cloths and all.

The wolf smirked.

I sat clutching my human paw. Guess it's a small price to pay...at least Miley is safe. "Snap" both Chase and I whirled around to the sound of a breaking twig. Oh no! There stood Miley stareing wide eyed.

"Well hello love" Chase smirked standing on his hind legs.

Miley was at a loss for words. “Where’s my dog?” Miley managed to squeak, trying to keep her voice level. " I saw him come around here and,,,"

Crud! I scrambled along. Stupid human legs.

"Dog...oh you mean this" Chase whirled around and grabbed my ankle dragging me toward them.

Miley observed me confused for a moment. Until her eyes found my collar dangling around my neck. “No…” she whispered, eyes widening.  Her body started shaking slightly. 

“Miley…” I croaked, terror rang in my voice. 

She almost looked as if she would faint.

"Now you got it!" Chase cackled. He tossed Me at Miley like a ragdoll. We both crashed into each other, both of us were sent crashing to the ground.

Miley gasped for breath, the wind knocked out of her.  I quickly got off of her and awkwardly helped her sit up.  She coughed.

“I-I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”  I stammered. “Are y-you ok?”  Miley couldn’t respond she was to scared. She gripped the sleeves of my jacket fear covering her face.

"I told you Miley, You wouldn't see the last of me" Chase snarled launching himself toward them teeth bared.....
