day there was a fresh kill, which I had helped to bring down. I patiently waited my turn to eat and once it was my turn, I padded up to the kill and began eating. I heard a growl behind me and someone shoved me out of the way. It was Mykal. He began eating hungrily and I shoved him back. Mykal reared up and pushed me over with his front paws, and I stumbled. I growled at him, my fur rising. I dove towards him, trying to pin him down. He dove out of the way.  I growled in frustration and lunged for him again. I succeeded in pinning him down and I growled in his face. "You don't scare me," he said defiantly. I snapped at him, biting the top of his muzzle, a sign of dominance. Mykal yelped in pain and his tail curled between his legs. I pinned him for a moment longer before letting him up. I had won. I was no longer omega. I smiled and continued eating my fill. I padded over to Chakin afterwords. "Nice moves!" he said with respect. "I shrugged, "It was nothing," I replied," Mykal is all bark and no bite." Chakin chuckled and laid his head on his paws. Soon after that everyone went to the den for the night. I woke up the next morning to see Shak standing over me. "We have scouting patrol," he grumbled padding out of the den. I got up, shook out my fur, and padded after him. I notice that it was just us, and no third wolf. I shrugged and dismissed the thought and followed Shak into the forest. I sniffed around, looking for signs of anything that shouldn't be there. We were padding along the north edge of our territory, I could here the river in the distance. We kept along in silence until we reached the cliff. I had never been to this part of the territory before. I peered over the edge and saw the rushing water below. I shudered and took a step away from the edge. "I never did like you." I turned around to see Shak glaring at me. I froze stiff. His eyes. They didn't look right. I couldn't look away. I heard a wolf padding towards us. So did Shak, he glanced over his shoulder in a panicked manner. "You don't belong here, outsider!" he shouted. The wolf was running now, it must have heard Shak. The wolf crashed out of the tree line just as Shak swiped my paws out from under me. I clung to the edge of the cliff. "Please, Shak" I pleaded. "Oh look, poor Ashton, begging for mercy," Shak said in a mocking tone. The wolf was coming closer, I could just make out it's features. It was Aery. She didn't come fast enough. Shak pushed me off of the edge. "ASHTON!" Aery screamed. Suddenly I felt a falling sensation, and then nothing but freezing black. I couldn't breathe. I was dying. I flailed my legs wildly, it was just like my dream. Except this was real.                                     All characters (c) Me   Next part coming soon!
