Stark: Hey dad!
Balto: Yeah son?
Stark: Well of us were wondering if you can tell us what happened to you during the war?
Aleu: Yeah where did you go?
Hunter: What did you see?
Sara: How did you survive?
Dingo: Where did you get that necklace?
Kodi: It’s not a necklace dummy.
Balto: Hey now, one at a time. How about this? I will tell you the whole story from begging to end?
All of the pups jump up and down. Barking in excitement.
Balto: Come here.
They go onto Balto’s boat and lye down on the deck.
Balto: Ok I was December 1943.
The scene goes to Balto and Jenna walking down the beach.
Balto: Amazing sight right Jenna?
They look out and see the sunset and the reflection in the water.
Jenna: Yeah, it is. I can see why you live here.
They hear loud engine running and look up into the sky and see a huge military plane fly over them. They watch it as it lands into Nome.
Balto: That’s one huge plane. Let’s go and look at it.
They go into Nome and see the plane up close. The door to the plane opens and they see a whole bunch of dogs come out and some men. The entire town gathers at that spot. A man comes out of the plane holding a megaphone.
Solder: Attention Nome I am Caption Harrison of the U.S Army.
Jenna: They army. Why are they here?
Balto: Not sure.
Harrison: There is a special division being called up by the army. A division of dogs to serve in the army.
Balto: That sounds interesting.
Harrison: We are to see if there are any owners that are will to have there dogs serve. If they serve there owners will be paid.
Balto: I think I can help.
Jenna: Balto are you serious?
Balto: Maybe?
Jenna: You can’t!! You could die. I’ve been listening to the radio and it says there is a war going on.
Balto: And that’s why the army will need all the help they need.
Jenna: I guess that’s true.
Harrison: Are they ant dogs that are willing to this.
A few dogs bark and try to run to Harrison but there owners pull them back. Balto walks to Harrison.
Harrison: Well what do we have here?
A man comes up to him.
Man: That’s Balto. He’s the town hero. And he’s part wolf.
Some of the dog solders look at each other in confusion.
Harrison: A wolf-dog huh?
He gets down to his knees and looks at Balto. Balto just looks at him while Harrison is expecting him. First he looks at Balto’s figure.
Harrison: Muscular.
Then looks at his paws
Harrison: Strong feet.
His teeth.
Harrison: Great teeth. Hey boy, show me how fast you are.
Balto runs into an open area as fast as he can and then runs back to Harrison.
Harrison: Great speed. Really great speed. All in all a fine young wolf dog.
Harrison looks into Balto’s eyes and touches him on the head.
Harrison: And a strong spirit.
He goes back into the place for a second. Balto goes back to Jenna.
Jenna: What are you going to do?
Balto: I’ll see. If he wants me I think I’ll go.
Jenna: But Balto I don’t think I can live without you here.
Balto places his paw on Jenna’s heart.
Balto: I’m always with you.
Jenna smiles and Harrison comes out of the plane and goes to Balto.
Harrison: Do you still want to be in the army boy?
Balto barks and pants at Harrison.
Harrison: Then you’re in my friend. Were goanna still stay here for a day and try to get some other recruits. You can say bye to who ever you want.
Balto and Jenna run off together back on to the beach.
Jenna: Are you sure you want to do this?
Balto: Yes. I’ve heard about this war too and I feel that I should help out this.
Jenna: Then if that is what you want then I will accept it.
Balto and Jenna walk down beach together.
In a restaurant in town Harrison is standing on a porch and is joined by a friend of his Sgt. Miles.
Miles: What’s up man?
Harrison: Nothing just thinking.
Miles: About what?
Harrison: That wolf dog Balto.
Miles: What about him?
Harrison: Did you see that look in his eyes. It looked like he was willing to do anything for this country.
Miles: We then he must have a strong will. Like you do.
Harrison: I guess so.
Later that night Balto is walking through town and goes to the plane that the troops came with. He looks around it. He is confronted by a bunch of dogs.
Balto: Who are you?
One of the dogs came up.
Dog: It’s ok. Names Butch.
Balto: Nice to meet you. What do want?
Butch: Just to meet the hero of Nome.
Balto meets a whole bunch of other dogs that have been recruited by the army. They say hello and good job to him. The next day Harrison is waiting for Balto to get on the plane.
Harrison: Coming boy?
Balto is talking to Jenna.
Jenna: Good bye my love.
Balto: Good bye.
Balto climbs the ramp and turns around and looks at Nome. He howls to the whole town and Jenna howls back to him. Balto goes into the plane and the door closes.
Jenna: Good bye.
The inside the place Balto is strapped down and sits one a side bench. He wakes up hours later and sees Harrison come over to him.
Harrison: Look out the window Balto.
Balto looks out and sees the military academy. The plane stops and the dogs get out and stand upright. A man comes to all of them and looks at all of them.
Harrison: Major Gordon sir!!
Gordon: At ease. So these are the dogs that you’ve got?
Harrison: Yes sir!
Gordon: Impressive.
Gordon looks at Balto and goes back to Harrison.
Gordon: Harrison.
Harrison: Sir.
Gordon: Is this a wolf?
Harrison: Permission to speak freely?
Gordon: Granted.
Harrison: He’s a wolf-dog sir.
Gordon: Really?
Harrison: I inspected him myself sir. He has a strong spirit.
Gordon: Does he? Very well then my friend.
Harrison: Thank you sir!
The next day Balto and the other dogs are lined up and there are several dummies in front of them.
Harrison: Ok dogs! This is the enemy. The German they are who you will be facing in this war. I want to test your strength right now. Do what it takes and rip the enemy to shreds!
The dogs charge at the dummies in front of them. Balto runs and jump on to his and puts his mouth on the dummy’s throat and quickly sinks his claw in to the chest. He takes a deep breath and the bites the throat open and rips open the chest.
Harrison: Back in line!
The dogs go back into line and Harrison looks at the dummies. He turns to the dogs.
Harrison: Good job boys.
He points to a dog named Lou.
Harrison: Excellent form Lou.
He then goes to another dog named Rick.
Harrison: Very good strength.
He then gives comments to the rest of the dogs and goes to Balto last.
Harrison: Great job Balto. I want you to try something.
He walks over to the spot where the dummies were and calls to Balto.
Harrison: Tackle me.
Balto: What?
Harrison: Just try to tackle me but don’t kill me.
Balto charges very fast at him leaps up. He pushes Harrison to the ground makes him slide on the ground. Balto gets off and look at Harrison. Harrison gets up and pats Balto on the head. As time passes Balto and the others train in running, jumping, agility and killing. The one day in May Balto and the other dogs are resting in there cabin and Harrison and Miles come in. The dogs line up and Miles comes forward.
Miles: Your guy’s training will soon be put to great use.
Harrison: We will be leaving for London and then we will proceed to Normandy, France. Everything that you have trained for will be put to great use.
Miles: For the flight you will be knocked out and then you will wake up and you will be told what you job is. Got it?
The dogs bark professionally and the solders leave. Two days later Balto wakes up in a tent and looks around and sees the other dogs sleeping. Balto goes outside and sees thousands of solders walking around. He goes deeper into the camp.
Balto: Wow. I can’t believe I’m doing this.
Harrison: Hey Balto!
Balto looks over and sees Harrison.
Harrison: Come here I want to show you something.
The walking into a tent and Harrison lays a map down on the ground and Balto looks at it.
Harrison: This is where we are going my friend. Tonight we will start Mission Albany.
He gets up and looks for something one the table.
Balto: Mission Albany?
Harrison comes back and shows Balto a dog tag. Balto looks and sniffs it. Harrison then puts it around Balto’s neck and holds it up into the light. On the dog tag it says “ Balto 101st Airborne”
Balto: Wow.
Harrison: Look here. Tonight me, a lot of solders, you, and the other dogs will land a take the enemy from behind. It will be in the dark.
Miles comes in.
Miles: Harrison, Gordon wants to see you.
Harrison: Got it. Balto look over this if you want.
Harrison and Miles leave.
Balto: Were goanna be taking the enemy from behind? That’s not a bad idea.
He looks at the dog tags.
Balto: This is cool.
Harrison: Alright Balto it’s about time let’s get going.
Balto barks happily at him. At Balto and the other dogs get on the plane and about 15 other solders. They plane takes off and Balto is ready to go.
Later
It’s pitch black out side and every thing is quiet. All of the sudden the planes are being shot at and Balto looks out and sees several planes go down.
Gordon: Let’s go!
Balto has a harness put on and it’s attached to Harrison’s. They jump out of the plane and parachute to the ground. Balto has is eyes closed the whole time. Before they hit the ground by a few feet Harrison cuts Balto’s harness loose. Balto lands on the ground hard but gets back up.
Balto: That’s the last time I fly. He looks over and sees Harrison’s rifle. He picks it up and goes over to where Harrison landed. Harrison gets up and removes his parachute.
Harrison: Where my gun?
He looks over and sees Balto coming over to him and Balto gives him his rifle.
Harrison: Thanks boy.
They hear a twig snap and Harrison points

This story was good. Great idea adding Balto into the fights of WWII.
Although, it did seem you rushed through it as it kept switching to a
few sentence scenes. I dont mean to be technical, but I've studied WWII for years, and I gotta let it out. Normally if the Army hires any native dogs from Alaska, they would be sent to fight the Japanise who where invading the Alaskan islands in 1942-43. Or, they would be sent to Norway, Eastern European nations like Poland and Yugoslavia, and most commonly to the Soviet Union to fght within the Eastern Front as war supplies from allied nations. Although, there have been reports of Alaskan huskies/malamutes fighting in the American campaign from D-Day, the Battle of the Buldge (there were quite a few during this), to the final battle of Berlin. Although, they would never put a paratute on a dog and put him/her into an Airbourne squadren. Also putting dates will help to, like the scene when Blato jumped out of the plane, put June 5, 1944 before it. And the endin was the most rushed. It ends off Harrison dying, then instantly back in 1946. How did balto get home? He still had almost a year of literal Hell to go though into the bloody road to Berlin. But overall, quite origional ideas going there. ![]() |
