ONE MONTH BEFORE BALTO IS DRIVEN OUT
The black and white sled dog walked silently through hte snow, his footprints quickly being covered by the prints of the large black dog that was following him. The dog growled.
"Steele, i told you. I don't like this plan. I want revenge on the wolfdog also, but i don't see why we don't just kill him?" The dogs's voice was deep and low. Anyone who heard it would have shivered on how cold and evil it sounded.
"I told you Rector," the black and white dog hissed, getting tired of explaining it over and over again. "I want to humiliate the wolfdog. He stole everything from me! Killing him won't do me any good! It won't fill the lust i have for revenge!" The larger black dog, Rector, grunted and continued to follow Steele farther into the town. Rector was not used to the smell of humans and he growled again.
"What now?!" Steele whispered angerly.
"Humans." Rector answered coldly. Steele snorted and continued walking. Finally, they reached their destination. A large barn stood and in it, a sled team that had to run every day to deliever mail to other towns. Right now, inside the barn, two dogs sat huddled, watching their pups play while the rest of the team slept in another barn to let the couple have some peace for the pups. They wouldn't be allowed back in the barn for many more days until the pups, though their eyes were open and they were tackling eachother, had gotten used to the rest of the team.
"What's in the barn Steele?" Rector asked.
"There are two dogs in there. Their names are Kodi and Dusty. Dusty had her pups with the son of the wolfdog. The red and white one is Kodi. I just need you to run in and grab Dusty. Leave the pups and Kodi to me." Steele said. Rector nodded and crouched down, teeth bared.
"NOW!" Steele shouted, running into the barn. The pups shouted with shock as Dusty screamed. Rector had immediatly gone for her and now had his teeth latched around her throat, ready to kill her if need be. The pups all shouted again and ran for their father. There were two of them, one red and white like it's father and one cover in gray fur except for a few white patches around it's face.
"STEELE!" Kodi shouted, jumping to his feet and running at Rector. "LET HER GO!"
"I would stop if i were you." Steele said. "The closer you get, the more i'll tell my friend to crush her throat." Dusty coughed as Rector started to close his jaws.
"Stop! Please stop this now!" Kodi gasped, skidding to a stop and running back to protect his pups. "What do you want?"
"So what are the pups names?" Steele asked, sitting down and enjoying the fear and anger in Kodi's eyes.
"Steele," Kodi growled and Rector tightened his grip. "Their names are Boris and Lela." Kodi said quickly.
"You named one after a goose? How pathetic." Steele laughed.
"What do you want Steele?" Kodi shouted, his voice full of anger.
"I want your help Kodi." Steele said. "And i suggest you agree to help me unless you want to see your mate and your pups killed in front of your eyes."
"You monster!" Dusty gasped inbetween Rector's teeth. "Kodi, forget about me! Take the pups and run!" Or course, Kodi refused to leave his mate.
"What is it you want Steele?" he asked, gritting his teeth.
"Oh i'm not going to tell you just yet." Steele said. "I'm going to take pretty young Dusty here and we're going to walk out. If you follow us or go for help, i'll kill her myself. I'll be making visits back here to tell you the plan on what i want." With that, Steele walked out of the barn, Rector and Dusty following. Soon, the night swallowed them up.
TWO WEEKS BEFORE BALTO IS DRIVEN OUT
"Kodi? Are you here?" Steele once again walked into the barn. Immediatly Boris and Lela ran into the basket where normally their mother would be. She had not been in the basket for almost two weeks.
"Steele." Kosi said. "Are you finally going to let Dusty go?"
"No!" Steele hissed. "You ask the same question every week! I'm not letting her go until my plan to get rid of Balto is complete. I saw the rest of your team yesterday. I understand they are to return to the barn?"
"Yes." Kodi said. "For Dusty's sake, i will not tell them what is going on."
"Good." Steele grinned. "Kodi, today i am going to tell you my plan. I had to earn your trust before i told you."
"I will never trust you!" Kodi growled. Steele ignored him.
"I am going to call the dogs of Nome together. I am going to tell them that Balto is planning to kill them all using the power of the wolves. I want you to come out and agree with every word i'm saying. If you don't, i'll give Rector the order to kill your mate and your pups."
Kodi gasped and took a step back.
"I............i can't!" He looked away from Steele and down at the floor. "My father..................i can't say that! No! Please! Dusty.................Balto...................."
Immediatly Steele was on top of Kodi, pinning him to the floor and the pups were crying.
"You'll do as i say or watch your life be taken away from you like mine was taken from me!" Steele shouted. "Now i'm going to tell you again. You WILL agree with every word i'm saying!"
Kodi was trembling as he stared up at the face of a monster. Finally he whispered, "I'll do whatever you ask. Just don't hurt my pups or Dusty!"
"Very good." Steele said, smiling and climbing off of Kodi. "Now that wasn't so hard was it? The meeting is in two weeks. You'd better be there and you'd better stick to the plan! Tell anybody and i'll slit Dusty's throat myself! Now start practicing what your going to say and make sure you don't mess up. Your family will pay the ultimate price if you do!"
With that, Steele walked out of the barn, leaving the red and white husky on the floor. Quietly, Kodi began to cry.
Many people are wondering why Steele is so evil! Well, i like Steele and all, but at the same time, i think he could also be portrayed as an evil dog!!!!!!!!!!!! If you disagree and you like Steele, then i suggest you shouldn't read the rest of my story! Part four is coming soon!!!!!!!!!!! It's going to go back to Balto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
