I loved the forest I moved into, and so did my pack. Nice fresh, green leaves, flowers, and nice soft grass. I always wanted to live in a place like this, but there was a huge problem. Aleu, Balto's daughter, was leader. I never really liked Aleu, she was so bossy, so sassy. But that didn't bother me right now.

I walked with the rest of my pack to the new territory. When I first stepped in on the grass, it was like feathers on my paws. It was that soft. I loved the smell too. Fresh flowers were growing in the middle of our territory. I think they were daisies, or something like that. I was about to explore, when Aleu made an announcement.

"Hello everyone. If you do not know, I am your new leader for this pack,"

I rolled my eyes. There was something about Aleu, I didn't like. For whatever reason, I wanted to get outa' there and explore. As she was still talking, I sneaked away from the rest of my pack.

When I was safe on the other side, I started off with a small jog toward the outside of the territory. I didn't know where I was going, but I smelled something strange ahead. It was Niju. I snarled. I knew Niju. I almost broke in a fight with him back at our other home. I hated Niju.

I knew he was close, so I began to crouch down on the ground so he couldn't catch my scent. But it didn't seem to work. Niju spoke.

"I know your out her kid, I can smell you. I can also smell fear in you." he growled.

He walked right past me, as I was hiding in a bush. Niju began to circle around me now, probably knowing I was in the bush.

"Well, Legolas. I guess I need to go take over the pack that you serve. As well as kill the leader that almost defeated me before."

That was enough to anger me. I pounced out of the bushes, and landed right on top of Niju. I bit the scruff of his neck, as he began to turn in circles, trying to kick me off. But it didn't work. I grabbed him by his left ear, and began chewing. He howled in pain, and tossed his head back, hitting mine. I flew backwards, and landed on my back. Niju then flew in the air, and bit a blow in my neck, digging into my flesh.

I didn't know if I was going to die, but I was feeling very dizzy, and blackness was taking over me, as Niju bit deeper into my flesh. Then, I felt the body on top of me get ripped off, by someone. I looked up to see Aleu?! She was snarling over me. I looked up to see Niju turning over on the ground. The rest of the pack, snarling, jumped at Niju. With no fight left in him, he ran away yelping.

"Legolas! Why did you go off like that!? You could have been killed!" she yelled.

I stood up angrily, and faced my enemy.

"Well, it just so happens, I would like to adventure, and see our territory!" I yelled. I had never been so loud in my life, or so angry. I knew I had to tell Aleu the truth, about how I feel with her being leader.

"And also, I don't think you deserve to be leader, as well as bossing me around all the time! You don't even know how to be a leader!"

As if on command, the other wolves ran at me snarling and growling. I growled back, for I was angry. But I couldn't help it.

Aleu looked at the ground for a while. Thinking about what I said would be a better idea for her. I didn't mean to be cruel, but she needed to know I don't like being bossed around, especially every minute of the day. She raised her head, and spoke softly.

"I know this is hard for you Legolas, but..."

She took a deep breath.

"It is hard for me too. Your right. I don't know how to be a leader, and I shouldn't boss everyone around, especially you."

I didn't get it. Especially me? Why? There was no way she'd like me in a million years. I didn't like her either, but I was wondering.

"What? What do you mean by me?" I asked slowly.

Aleu turned her head to me. Her eyes latched onto mine as we stared at each other. Aleu spoke slowly.

"Well...um...since you...are, well the bata...I shouldn't order you around."

I raised an eyebrow.

"Really?"

"Yes really," she said sternly.

"Ok, well, we should be heading back, Niju has a tight feeling about me being alone in these trees."

I had to admit, I was worried. Niju was strong. He could almost take on two wolves. But I felt angry also, that he would kill Nava to become the leader, as well as wanting to stay in the valley. He's also, a fraidy cat. Niju never wanted to swim the great water. But I don't know if he was even scared.

It was getting dark, and I headed over to our territory with my pack. Along the way, my stomach growled. I forgot all about food as I was talking to Aleu. She seemed to sense I was hungry, so she called the pack out for a hunt. Along the way, I spotted a small rabbit eating a plant. I growled.

I crouched down on the ground, and then, I pounced! I knew I could run fast, but this rabbit was faster! We ran around a few trees, jumped over a lake, and ran flat out. I was getting tired, and knew I was going to loose it. But then, a stray wolf, jumped on top of the rabbit and killed it.

I caught up to the wolf, panting hard.

"Hey! That's my kill!" I yelled.

The wolf laughed.

"Hah! I bet you couldn't catch a ball if your life depended on it!" he said, still laughing.

I growled.

"Give that to me, now!"

The wolf ignored me, and began to slink away. He wouldn't get away that easily! That's when I attacked!

I ran at the wolf, knocking him down. The wolf struggled to get to his feet, but then I was upon him. I grabbed the scruff of his neck, and shook him, knocking him out. I didn't mean to hurt him, but what's mine, is mine. I turned around and grabbed the rabbit with my mouth, and ran back to my pack.

I didn't know if they caught anything. But since there is more of them, they probably took down a caribou. I was right. The pack caught a caribou. First, I ate the rabbit that was rightfully mine. Next, I helped the rest of the pack carry the caribou to the territory.

A few days flew by, and I had to admit, I started to look up to Aleu. I felt weird doing it, but I had to say, I thought she was kinda' cute. Of course, she can be a pain in the butt, but she was kind to me. I was the bata though, so there was never going to be a chance for me to become...well...the alpha male if I am mates with Aleu, but that might never happen.

Alot of things had happened since we moved over here. The stray wolf I fought never came back. But that was good news. I never knew if Aleu had a crush on me, but she kept it a secret, a secret I will find out soon, I hope.
