Jaxson flew through the air, he felt his heart pound in his chest. He heard the sound of feet behind him. "Get back here!" He heard an angry voice yell. Hell no he thought. he ran into a dark ally, and ran around another corner. "Few, lost 'em." he sighed. He walked to his mother's den.
"Mah?" He called. "Jaxson? What are you doing here?!" She exclaimed in excitement. "I ran away.." He said. She understood, and hugged her son. "Where are you going to live?" She asked. He shrugged. "Imma just go hang out with Lightning tonight, bye momma." He smiled, Angel nuzzled him one last time before he left.
Jaxson had lied to his mother. He wasn't going to go to see his brother, he was leaving town. "Jaxson!" Someone called. He turned and saw his father, Jaxs. "Where are you going?" He asked. "I-I'm leaving.." He sighed. "Why- OH, your running away from the humans?" Jaxs asked. Jaxson nodded.
"Well, son, I'm not stopping you. I understand what you must be going through." Jaxs began. "But, its very hard out there. There are bears, hunters, wolves, and many other creatures that can harm you. Please, be careful." Jaxs whined. "I will dad." Jaxson nodded.
After they had gone their separate ways, Jaxson walked up a small hill, and glanced back at his home. "Good-bye, Nome." He whispered.
--
It was his first night in the wild. He had found a small burrow under ground that he was just small enough to fit in. He was scared, cold, and lonely. But he somehow managed to fall asleep.
"Hello??" Jaxson woke up, hearing a stranger's voice wake him. He poked his head out. "Who are you?" A large, green eyed wolf asked. "J-Jaxson.. Who are you?" Jaxson asked. The male wolf smiled, "I'm Keex. I was just wondering why a wolf was in a fox's den." He chuckled. Jaxson laughed slightly "Heheh, I-I'm not a wolf. W-Well I mean I'm part wolf, j-just have half husky, too."
"So, where's your clan?" Jaxson asked. "I.. don't have one." Keex mumbled, a bit ashamed of himself. "Oh... Well, I'm just passing through. So I guess I'll be on my way." Jaxson said. "Good luck. If you find a pack to join, come find me." Keex replied. "I wil-" Jaxson turned around only to see the wolf gone. Not wanting to stick around, he quickly left.
It had only been a week sense he left home, but he was having a bit of trouble keeping himself alive. He had lost some weight, and had some cuts from animals he'd try to hunt. He tried to find that wolf Keex that he'd seen a few days ago, but could never find his scent.
When night came, it brought a blizzard with it. Jaxson felt his paws get colder and colder. But then, he caught the scent of, something. It was similar to Keex's but, yet it was so different. he bumped into a rocky hill and looked up. When he did, he saw a small, grey and black wolf. A female wolf, but she was curled up in a ball. "Hellooo?" He called, the she-wolf turned he head slightly, but not enough to face him.
"Are you alright?" He called again. This time she didn't move. He found a way up the hill and approached the she-wolf. "Miss? Are you ok?" He asked. She just opened one eye and looked at him, the closed it. I need to get her out of this storm He thought. He picked her up on his back and walked through the forest until he found a cave. He walked to the very back and placed her down.
The next morning he woke early, the blizzard was mostly gone, it was only snowing now. He walked over to the small she-wolf. She was still warm, that was good. He poked her with his nose. "Miss, miss, wake up." He whispered as he nudged her with his nose. She slowly stood up and stretched, yawned, and blinked a few times. She looked at Jaxson.
"Where am I? Is this a dream?" She asked, looking around the cave. Jaxson smiled "No, I brought you here, to get you out of that storm."
"We haven't properly met." Jaxson began. "My name is Jaxson, do you mind telling me your name?" He asked. She shook her head, "I don't mind at all." She giggled. "My name is Dasha, but the humans from where I used to live called me Robyn, but my name IS Dasha." She smiled.
"I should get going, I'm sure you don't want me in your cave." Dasha sighed. "No, no, no, this isn't my cave. We can both stay here." Jaxson assured. Dasha blinked, this strange animal was very, kind. "Oh, th-thank you." She said sweetly. "No need to thank me. I've been very lonely lately, and could use some company." Jaxson smiled.
Jaxson's stomach growled. "Sorry, I haven't eaten in a while." He sighed. "Oh... I haven't either. Buuuttt I doo know where we can find rabbits." She smiled, rising her eye brows. "Really?! Oh that would hit the spot!" Jaxson cheered. Dasha giggled to herself, she found Jaxson quite...funny.
Jaxson and Dasha walked about five miles before coming to an open field in the middle of a forest. "There's.. nothing here." Jaxson said, looking around. "Ssshhhh! Just wait." Dasha hissed. Jaxson looked out into the opening, and saw it. A rabbit poked its head out of its den and crawled out.
"Shall we?" Jaxson asked. Dasha smiled at him. "Not yet, wait for more, it will be better to strike then."
"What ever you say." He winked.
"Get low, and walk towards that group of em' over their." Dasha whispered.
Jaxson got low into stalking position, he crawled over to a group of five or six rabbits. He saw Dasha on the other end of the field. He looked at her and she mouthed words to show him what to do. She was telling him to chase them into her direction, and let her catch one.
He liked that idea, but then he thought about it. He didn't want to make Dasha share with him, not because he didn't want to share with her, he wanted her to have her own food. But he did as she told him. He waited a few seconds for them to move a little closer.
It was time, he jumped out of his hiding space, he landed on one of the rabbits, not killing it, but crippling it enough to not move. He chased after the others, straight for Dasha. Just as they reached a few feet from her, she leaped from her hiding spot and landed right infront of the rabbits.
They froze, they looked around for some place to run to. But before they all could run, Dasha grabbed one in her jaws, it shrieked. She broke its neck and silenced it. Jaxson did the same to another rabbit, the rest of them scrambled.
Jaxson carried the one her caught over to the crippled on. He felt bad for it, it had tried to walk away, but only managed to get a foot or two. He put it out of its suffering. He then glanced back at Dasha.
"Wow.." She said, taking a deep breath. "Your... a really good hunter." She said between breaths. "Oh.. th-thanks.." He said, turning a tad red. "We killed three." She suddenly said. "Huh? Whoa, What?" He said, shaking his head. "You killed two, I killed one. There's three." She said. "Oh.."
"Well, there is one way to settle it." Dasha sighed.
"What?"
"You can eat the two you killed, and I'll at mine." She smiled.
"No!" Jaxson shouted. He knew for a fact that wasn't fair.
Dasha jumped a bit, and stared at the creamy hybrid. "We c-could share the last one." He said, looking a little towards his paws.
Dasha smiled at him, "Thanks, Jaxson. Thats very sweet of you."
The two gobbled down their own rabbits, then Jasxon trotted over with the third one. He plopped it infront of her and began eating. Dasha was tempted to join, and very slowly did. Jaxson could feel himself becoming scared, but, why? Why would he be scared about sharing with Dasha?
He shook that feeling off. He finished eating and let Dasha eat the rest. "Hey, there's still some left." Dasha said. "I know, but I'm full." Jaxson smiled, and winked at her.
Dasha paused. Why does he keep winking at me? She thought. Maybe its just what he
