followed too, and I could hear my Mother trying to hold back more crying at the sight. With a paw on top of his head, I pointed the doctor’s gaze from the inn to my Mother. Now he knew why I was going. It wasn’t for the gold. I was going for my home, and for Mother.

He turned around soberly and walked back to the squire’s house. Once we were all back and the door was shut, he faced us. “So,” he replied, “Let’s go get the treasure.”

“Then you’re coming?” asked the squire.

He raised one wing feather. “I do have one thing I am still vorried about.” He pointed at Squire Trelawney. “You. The men after us are dangerous, and you cannot hold your tongue!”

I considered pointing out his previous outburst, but Mr. Trelawney nodded. “You are right. I will be as silent as the grave.”

To Be Continued...

All characters so far belong to Universal Studios.

Based on Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson

* Aniu would rather not have any rum around, but in those days, an inn with no rum would have had hardly any customers.

** Gold and silver in their purer states are soft enough that they can be dented with little pressure. Bac when these metals were commonly used in currency, people often bit coins or dented them eith their thumbnails to ascertain that they were getting the real deal.

Well, it sounded that way in a Russian accent when he spoke in the movie.

And thanks for telling me.

With all the times Boris begins a "w" word with a "v" sound, I'd swear he's actually German. Oh, by the way, it's spelled "alcohol". You misspelled it in the description.

Ice --> Yeah, it's too bad. Billy's past caught up with him and everyone else at the inn, and now Aniu's only hope of getting her home back rests with letting her only son go on a voyage he might never return from, just like his father. And Balto... talk about pressure.

This wasa really good. I felt sorry for Aniu and Balto but Billy Bones seemed okay to me it's hard not to feel sorry for him! Awesomeness as always though!

Croc --> Thanks. I'm glad to know I did a good job of writing in the first person, since most of my stories haven't been in this format. I've found it a bit limiting in some cases, but it is extremely useful for adding drama and realism. Moreover, the original Treasure Island was first-person (or at least every version I've read was), making it the reasonable choice.

keeper --> Thanks, it's always good to hear that from a fan of the original. It wasn't easy in some cases to balance the plot of Treasure Island with the characters of Balto. More on that in later parts. Thank you for the good wishes, and a Happy New Year to you as well.

Angel --> Hey, come on. At least I told you some points in advance over the summer.

All I can say is well done, I've read the book and so far just like the book with a first person Balto twist on it. I actually felt like I was experiencing it from Baltos' p.o.v and it was another great story by you. Again well done and have a happy new year!

DT, you've delivered once again a story that everyone can enjoy :) I'm really impressed how you made this a first person account, when I try to do something like that I epically......fail LOL. Can't wait to see part 2.

God bless,
