The idea of making Balto's long lost father has most likely been used already (I wouldn't know. I don't look at a lot of Balto fanart) but, who cares, right?
This is Raider; Balto's purbred husky father and mate of the white wolf, Aniu. After Balto was born, Raider was shipped off (against his will) to New York to retire as a stud. But, because he loved Aniu so much, he refused to mate any other female. By the time he was sent back to Alaska, it had been several years, and Balto wanted nothing to do with his estranged father that he felt abandoned him and his mother.
Raider, now almost 8, still communicates with his grandchildren, but has yet to give up on his son. A prideful beast at heart, Raider always has a tall, dominating stance and a cold stare in his eyes (Balto feels inferior next to him: another reason why he hates his father). Unlike other huskies, Raider loves wolves and feels Balto should embrace his wolf half; not be ashamed of it. Raider is unhappy with the fact that Balto chose a dog to be his mate rather then a wolf.
