Break Free

Break Free

This is my new character, Phoenix, and this is a short paragraph from her story:
"So we all have souls?" Phoenix asked the wise elder with an inquisitive voice, "and mine is a Fire Bird?"
"Yes, just as mine is the Water Horse." The elder told, his voice croaking slightly with age, "if you ever wish to be able to let your soul break free, you must first find it."
"Have you, elder?" She replied.
"Many years ago, when I was your age, I went on a search for my soul by the great Loch of Scot. I walked toward the water and gave my heart to it, and soon, the water horse appeared in front of me, and I was able to become it."
Phoenix knew he wasn't going to live for much longer seeing as he was very old, but she did know that when he did die, he would be able to live on as the Water Horse.
"Elder Ness, if I do not find my soul, will I die?"
He did not answer, knowing that the true answer would be 'yes'. Phoenix knew what he was thinking, nuzzled him slightly and then turned away, facing the blazing sun, squinting her eyes to view the faint sillohuette of a large bird. It was the Fire Bird.
"Chase it, Phoenix, follow it, quickly, my child!" Elder Ness whispered sharply, "good luck on your journey."
"Thank you Elder."
She then took off, following the Fire Bird of the sun.

Have you ever wondered how the 'Nessie' of Scotland, and the 'Phoenix' of Myth came around?
