| O' Cap'n My Cap'n! |
Beauuuutifully put, Natti! I love that someone else cares enough to state these things openly, rather than worry about dancing on broken glass just to protect some "sensitive feewings". |

I can see some distinct irony in this matter, but I'll PM you about it
to avoid a major argument. I was going to send you a message anyway. |

I agree with this completely. The same reason I have stopped rendering
and removed all my renders from my gallery. There isn't anything I should add. You've covered it all. |

Thank you NattiKay for posting this ! I Agree All the way about
Same Body Structure as others And the Whole Render thing. I HATE
renders. I'll admit , I used to Use renders and Draw/Render Charecters
in the same Body bulid and Even mimic a Style of Movies , I Since Then
Grew up and Realized that was wrong.Drangon Tamer - Yes. Rendering over screenshots IS art theft. It was another artists art work. |

DT> Yeah, basically. All the work from universal is copyrighted. Many people do collages and images, but I personally think it is more serious to trace someone else's artwork you have to right to be using whatsoever. Yes, I've rendered before, although I' not planning on rendering again because I am capable of drawing things.(Not to mention the fact that it is illegal) But if your not able to draw something on your own, is that an excuse to use artwork that isn't yours? Besides, if you must make a reference sheet, there are countless linearts people are allowed to use. Not saying people who render are horrible, it's just, think. Think how hard much hard work went into making this movie. Then, people come along and just trace your work? I've been undergoing the same practice, and hard work most artists would go throw at my age. And knowing how much it took, I certainly wouldn't want anyone to use my work for themselves if I ever were to be on an animation crew. (Not that it would be my choice alone, since there are many animators involved in making a movie.) I'm simply saying, consider that. |

Not saying I disagree with you, but let me see if I understand this
correctly. You all are saying that using someone else's work in your
images - specifically the copyritten contents of movies - is wrong, am
I right? |

GOOD POINTS THANK YOU NATTI! Oh my gosh... builds.. I love builds.. it's like the most important part, it's what makes the character, a character! I try to make my builds as unique as possible. (My style is fairly realistic, so I don't exaggerate things that much, but I still try and give some a build different and unique) Lets face it, people who render are limited with builds. I'll say it, even though I HAVE rendered, it's not preferred in any way. In fact, I HATE IT. I completely agree with you. (I used to render a lot. I basically don't anymore because it is art theft. The Mock poster was more of an exception. Although I wasn't proud of rendering again.) Anyway, one of the things that gets on my nerves the most, is it seems as though people think higher artistically of people who render? C'mon. Artists work HARD. Developing styles, builds, characters, ability, everything. They should get their due credit. After reading this, it reminds me how serious an offense rendering is. You'll certainly never see another render from me again. |

Oooh, ouch, the truth, it pains ![]() I think the saddest part about the "Is it fair to copy someone else who's worked hard?" will usually retort with "Well if someone were to copy MY art, I'd be flattered!", and I think what's even sadder than that is there are even artists out there who find it flattering when people copy them and don't care if they get credit or not. It's people like that who give normal artists, artists who want credit for something they've done and to be KNOWN for it, that give people the mindset that it's perfectly acceptable to copy and/or trace. People usually have that mindset when they feel its convenient for them. If anyone believes that every artist is okay with being copied/traced/uncredited, then they're a complete irredeemable idiot who doesn't deserve a bit of respect from anyone. As for the Jenna/Steele/Balto/etc-clones. Just... stop. The only other option is to draw something yourself. And if that's too difficult then I'm going to be mean and say just give up if all you're going to do is recycle designs that aren't yours. |
Thank you for having the guts to put this out into the public, Natti :'D
I honestly agree with you. I know I'm not 100% innocent, all my old renders are still in my gallery, but I've since realised that it is a true form of art theft, and if someone traced over any of my artwork I would be thoroughly annoyed.
This art was well overdue
(and on another tangent, the structure designs you did at the bottom of the art are superb :3 You're really amazing at defining a character!)
