Oh, dear, this is really going to turn into a mini-project of redesigning all the sequel characters, isn't it?
Now, I hated doing this in hindsight because I really did like the fact that the Trio in Balto 3 broke the tradition and had a female member. Oh, well. Looks like Ralph or Kirby are going to be the unfortunate replacements. Sacrifices must be made to build up on underdeveloped characters.
I've also never been an avid fan of the whole DustyxKodi ship and, with him conveniently removed from the picture, you'd think I'd ship Aleu with Dusty, bypassing controversy by making Dusty a male? Nope. I have made Dusty a male here but mostly because my brain keeps telling me that the name suits a male more. I've also made him grey rather than greyish-brown, since dust is grey and I don't want him to look too much like Aleu. I've kept the dark blue eyes. Nothing much has changed except for the sex and his role.
My version of Dusty is actually an old-timer from Balto's generation, a mentor for Aleu and her fellow dogs at the post office. He takes a particular shine to Aleu because of her heritage but she constantly lets him down with her arrogance and inexperience. In time, he teaches her the ways of the sled dog and they form something of a brother-sister relationship, especially after Kodi disappears.
I'd also appreciate some name suggestions for Ralph or Kirby's female versions. mahahuaha

Personally, I like that they balanced the team out some by adding a girl, though it would have been better if the fact that she was a girl had played into it somehow. Not even in a romantic fashion as such, but just having a feminine perspective. I'm saying this as a guy because even though girl perspectives often seem to make things more confusing (to me at least), I like it when characters bounce off one another.
