Kodi: My Version
Here's my version of Kodi. As explained in my Aleu drawing, it is he who responds negatively to being part wolf. I've decided that his reason for this is because his friends speak negatively about wolves and, yeah, bad influences. We're not actually given a reason as to why Aleu disliked the idea of being part wolf (other than them being 'wild animals') so it's better than nothing.
Appearance-wise, this was a tad bit harder than Aleu. I tried mixing colours again, adding just a tiny bit of orange/brown to Kodi's coat here. There was also the problem of markings, whether or not to keep the nose bridge (the only thing that makes him somewhat unique) and then I remembered Aniu's markings. So, his eyes and nose are outlined like his grandmother but he has eye patches like his father, although they're a bit smaller. I also added Jenna's arrow thing, since I still wanted him to resemble Aleu and his mother. There was also a question of his eye colour, as I do believe the blue eyes on Aleu's original design have come from either of Jenna's parents or Balto's father so it didn't hurt to play with blue eyes... or the possiablity of Jenna's mother or father having two different coloured eyes. In the end, Kodi has one brown eye (from Balto) and one blue eye. Just to add another unique taint so he doesn't look like a complete clone. I also got rid of his black ear tips and his eyebrows and nose are the same colour as Balto's.
In terms of personality, Kodi is pretty much the quiet runt of the family. Complete opposite of his cocky and popular sister and very much like his father before he saved Nome. He's not unfriendly but he severely lacks confidence and confidence is what he gains on his journey across Alaska. So, rather than going from immature teenager to a inexperienced leader, Kodi actually gains self-esteem during his journey. In the end, he finds out that it's not his wolf heritage he is fearful of but himself.
OK, coming up next: my version of Dusty. Everyone seems to be messing about with trio so I may as well have a whack at her.

Thanks for the advice, Cat. I'll be sure to post an unshaded version
of him soon. I had a lot of fun with his design so I'll be drawing him
again. ;D |

I like what you did with the eyes. Bi-eyed husky/wolves have real
characteristics. Another thing. I love how you made him a little more orange than red. (Although, that may be just the shading. Shading can make a difference) |

Well whatdya know? A character that learns self-confidence through
character-building treks across dangerous terrain? If only the other
movies were written well enough to pull that off  Every character
that goes through a "change" it happens ALL OF A SUDDEN and is paced
terribly and unrealistically. As for his design, I see his shine that shows his true colors, but they're kind of hard to make out since you chose not only a blue setting, but a dark setting LOL You should do a colored version of him in natural sunlight. Him having resemblances to Aniu are a nice touch, since everyone makes Aleu have "Aniu-esque" looks to her. I'm excited for Dusty tho. |
