I forgot to say this in my last posting(about 2 minutes ago)
but have any of you been to Nome? If anyone has plane
tickets take me with you!
(My real name:Steve)
I now I already said this but for those of you who are
curious, I mean Balto's actual body. It's stuffed and they
had him on display in Cleveland but I think they moved
him.(By the way I have also seen the Statue!)
living 30 minutes away from Cleveland is quite a blessing for
me. but the odd thing is, i've only seen him three times! it
really is an incredible thing to see him but the downside is
that his exhibit is so small. it really is a shame that all
he has is a nice display case to be housed in, a small sign
with his name on it, and a tiny screen showing the same
images over and over again. but, there is something special
coming to the museum in February! please read:

I have never seen it (not yet anyway). However, while I
would like the chance to see the mounts of Balto, and Togo, and Fritz
(Togo's in Wasilla, AK, and Fritz is in Nome), I think it's not as
terribly important as visiting the places where the real serum run
occurred. After all, the sparks of life which dwelt in
those bodies are no longer there. Those are just empty
shells...nothing more than the tanned skins and fur
stretched over framework. Balto, Togo, Fritz, and the other
dogs - they live in the hearts of those who remember, love,
admire and respect them.
And the echos of what
they have done still resound in the tundra of the Seward
Peninsula...and the wash of the waves of Norton Sound...and
the wind which blows across that same land.
Was
that too profound? Heh heh. But it is how I feel about
this.
