Wolflover201: Thank you too for all your help. I have tons of non-Balto related chars I have created for stories I've written that I will post somewhere else. Perhaps I'll create a blog on my blogger account to post them on... sorry, getting off topic. Yes, I will stick to Balto related characters here on the Balto source. That is all that really belongs here.

Thank you for being really understanding again, and yeah, you will definitely get off to a better start if you're first character is non-angelic, realistic, and has a strong Balto relation. Then again, I must agree with whoever (I think it was Aiyana Kopa) said that Aniu was a spirit wolf, so angelic (but not tooo sparklish) wolves with plenty realism too could be allowed. You've done the better thing though to not post them. Trust me, you'll get off to a better start without angelic wolves^^.

Thank you so much everybody for your time. I really appreciate it. I think that just to be safe, I'm not going to post any of my angel characters on BS. It seems like that non-Balto related chars annoy people, and I understand. According to the link that Nattikat 8 gave me, my characters would be considered "sparkle" dogs on the lighter end. I know now that this is not the place for angels, and I never really thought so in the first place to be honest. Thanks again everyone!

As far as the "yellow" color, I agree with what Wolflover201 and Alphawolfjenna said--it all comes down to the hue.

Here's a chart of some yellow examples and what, in a wolf, would be considered "sparkle" and what wouldn't:

Now, I specify that these are with wolves because in other breeds, a Golden Retriever, for example, you could get away with darker or brighter yellows and still have the character be realistic. With wolves, however, those kind of colors simply don't occur.


As far as being Balto-related goes, these are my opinions on the matter. If your character isn't Balto-related, I personally would say to not make him or her a character page (characters CAN exist without them!) I'm with Wolflover201 on this in that I really don't think they should have the non-related option, but y'know.

But anyways, when it comes to fancharacters, I would say that you have to decided when you create them. You can think, hey, I want to make a Balto fancharacter, and them bam, go ahead. However, what I personally encourage NOT doing is creating an independent character and THEN adding a small or insignificant relation just to call it a Balto fancharacter (ie "was once friends with Dusty", "had a crush on Steele for a while", "Balto's cousin's mother's sister's great-aunt's best friend's great great grandson twice removed"), because those sound more like excuses (and usually are) than the character being a legitimate fancharacter.

Basically, no, characters you make don't have to be Balto related, but I think that you should only make character pages for them if they are. There's nothing wrong with having non-related characters--I have several myself--they just don't belong here. You can post them on dA or another site or not post them at all. I use both those options. -nodnod-

I guess that depends. For example, Aniu is a spirit wolf, I guess you could call her angelic in a way. If it has wings, it has a less chance of belonging here, as it is more of a sparkle dog, but if it just has powers, it should be fine.

if your "yellow" character is really more of a cream, I'd say it's fine

#1. A really bright yellow wolf would be considered a sparkle dog, there are not really YELLOW dogs, it would be blond or tan. not yellow

#2. non- balto related characters really means to most people that there are in the balto story but not in a relationship with any of the balto characters, to others it means lives in nome/ Alaska but not in the balto story, to most people it means, no relation to balto or the story, to me it really means related to the story, but not so balto. people take it different ways. in my opinion, no character that is not balto related (as in the story) does not belong on BS.

Neither am I really, I'm pretty new here myself. Do the "angelic" wolves have wings? Because if they did, many of characters that could be classed as sparkle characters (even without wings, but with odd colours) have been deactivated. But I don't see anything wrong with non-winged characters, which obviously, do have a relation to Balto. You'd get a better start with characters if your first submission was a realistic dog without wings, or neon colours.

When I had my previous account before I deleted it, I had made many characters who got deactivated for unexplained reasons, and it got very annoying. I hope that won't happen anymore... No problem, thank you for being very understanding, Marine. If only more things turned out like this here on AS. But, if you do have any non- angelic characters who are related to Balto, you could post them up here. As long as they are not at all really what might be classed as "sparkle".
