Which one is balto's owner? leonard seppala or gunner kaason??

MightyBalto1925 has it right...it was Leonhard Seppala, a musher with the Hammond Consolidated Gold Fields (formerly employed with Pioneer Gold Mining Company, which was bought up by the Hammond monopoly), and a supervisor of the gold mining crews. Balto would have worked as a freighting dog (before the serum run, obviously), participating in a work team that would haul supplies and run men and equipment. He may also have sometimes worked Leonhard Seppala's "pupmobile"...a small rail car hooked up to a dogsled gangline with leads and harnesses. Many of Seppala's dogs did so, and were rotated in that capacity.
Gunnar Kaasen was merely the musher of Balto's team during the serum run in 1925. And had it not been for Kaasen's strong liking of Balto, and his willingness to disobey Seppala's instructions to put another dog (Fox, an experienced leader) in the lead, we probably would not know much about Balto today, and the movie might have been called "Fox".Or it might have been something else entirely (that gets into a larger aspect of the serum run history that goes beyond the scope of your question).
