Ok I was wondering if we made our own version of Dingo or Saba would we (c) them to Universal?

If you make your own version and give them there own story and
personality, then yes you can copyright them as your own.

Also, their names (except for Dingo because it was mentioned in the movie) don't have be the popular names (Dakota, Saba ect..). You can name them anything you want...

Yeah. But if you don't change those kind of characters then you have to copyright them to Universal since they were in the Balto movies.
