I couldnt help but ask why Togo wasn't apart of the movie also. He was apart of the serum run, and ran the longest distance in real life. Even though it was Balto's story, why didnt they just include him in somewhere to show that Togo was also a large part of it?
I'm asking because I always thought that this is kinda strange...

It's a product of the imbalanced way in which the real Balto was
credited, by the press corps of the time, with being THE hero of the
serum run, when in fact there were many dogs who worked just as hard,
and many who traveled much farther. And a few who died during (or
shortly after) the run.
It is also interesting to note
that, of the last team (Gunnar Kaasen, a young Norwegian, was the
musher), only Balto was given any credit. None of the other 11 or 12
dogs (it's alternately said that Balto's team numbered 12 or 13) were
given any credit whatsoever. Balto didn't carry the serum back to
Nome, in the home stretch, by himself after all.
Not that
Balto was a bad dog who didn't deserve credit. Nor was it his fault
(at all) that he got all that attention over the other dogs. It was
the fault of the press corps, as I said, and everyone else down
through history (to the modern day, and even here) who has supported
and perpetuated that imbalance, and the myth that he was the one and
only hero.
