I was watching Balto(movie) the other day and when the scene with Aniu came on, I thought, is she alive in this movie? I'm not sure, but it doesn't show in anyway that shes not living. She walks up to Balto and she doesn't vanish, she walks away and leaves pawprints in the snow. When she comes back though you do see her appear suddenly but it was a blizzard,  so she could have just stepped through the snow.

I'm also writing a fanfic about this, but I think that theres a chance that she was alive in this movie, although she could have died between the first and second movie.

I think she's spirit but I think she was alive... because I had a dread and Balto said:'' Oh Aniu.. she WAS a good mother....''

Here is what I think. I am pretty sure that she was alive during the first film, but I have a more practical theory. During the second movie, when Muru and Aleu are talking, Muru says that each animal receives a spirit when they are born to guide them. Also, you see Aniu as a spirit following and guiding Balto through his journey finding Aleu. My guess would be that Aniu was supposed to be Balto's spirit guide when she died. When Balto and Aniu were sepperated, she probably died therefore, making her his spirit guide. Thats just a guess tho. I do not know this for sure...

Okay!! Me time!! I happen to know that the white wolf is, well, kind of magical, if you put it that way. Oh, ya, those spirit parts, well, in the 2nd movie she dissapears with the wind, so you might think shes dead, but shes not!! its hard to explain, but believe me, shes not dead.

Anui wasn't alive in the movie. Balto only saw her spirit.

When Aniu howled goodbye and faded away at the end of Wolf Quest, you can clearly see she became see-through.

Actually, we can't even answer that because of speculation. The B1 team say that the White Wolf was never intended to be Balto's mother, and the B2 team made it that way in the movie because, well... Balto's mother was a wolf, and they were too lazy to make up their own lamey character. Therefore, the White Wolf/Aniu most likely was a spirit in B1, otherwise s/he wouldn't have been able to inspire Balto so much. Or maybe Balto's just easily inspired.

I realy don't like Balto2 because Balto1 is made from a history, a true story, with very least changes ( like, the real balto is full husky ) but to answer your question. you have to understand the 1st Balto team didn't expect that Balto would have a sequel. so, they made him/her an unknown wolf appears from nowhere to remind Balto of his wolf heritage. no one even know if it was a coincidence or he/she did it on perpose. ( notice that I didn't use "she" completely because when there was no sequel of Balto, the white wolf was unknown and had no name ) to : "I love Alue" how did you know? what prove do you have?

Thanks, and for people who are confused, yes I was asking if she was a spirit in the first movie, but some people did get what I meant.
